Is it just me or from viewing the trailer could episode 2 be worse than episode 1?

Campino 03-17-2002 04:35 AM

I'm affraid i have to agree with you.I've seen some footage, and i wasn't particularly fond of it.Let's hope the entire movie is better.
Part 1 was good imho, but i had to get used to it after seeing parts 4,5 and 6.Took some time.

Lord Killjoy 03-17-2002 09:25 PM

Campino,

Yes I would have to agree somewhat with your assesment. The first time was a quite a shock and the second time it did seem a little better. I will have to watch it again to judge the further affect.

Well I've only seen the love trailer (which most people say is the worst - very Days of Our Lives ;) ), and I think it looks cool . Very stylish, very George ;) .

And I liked The Phantom Menace! Okay Jar Jar was a buffoon, and little Ani was a little annoying at times, but I think people have over the years made the originals into something they're not. Now I LOVE ANH, ESB and ROTJ (heh, true fan here :D ), but in so many departments, the same departments that people critised TPM about - acting, stylised scripts etc, they were not so great. Overall vision, storyline etc they were amazing, and I think when we have the whole prequel trilogy finished we'll say the same thing.

Lavindathar 03-18-2002 04:38 AM

Episode 1 was good.....the characters might not have been what most people like, but hey, some aliens are like that!!!

And episode 2 I'm sure will be good also! How do you think those two guys that started queing ages ago (someone posted about it) are doing?

P.S - I thought the trailer looked quite good!!!

Jorath Calar 03-21-2002 04:05 AM

I'm not going to say anything about it until I see the movie, watching the trailers I get very mixed feelings, I hate Anakin (whiney maggot), but Obi Wan looks very cool.

I just can't wait to see it...

!!! I don't think you have seen the newest trailer, then!!!
The last one I saw was so full of action tht I was screaming for the movie to hurry and be released! It is the trailer where Anakin jumps out of the car that is flying at the beginning. Tbe end of that trailer is so awsome I keep having to go back and see it one more time!
This one will certainly be more action-packed than the previous...

Really?
I've always heard the exact opposite, that it would be worse then Episode 1 because it contained too little action and too much romance.
???

see ya!

Larry_OHF 03-21-2002 03:00 PM

Well, there is one trailer that is all romance-based. That is not to say that the movie is like that. I saw the most recent trailer that is on movies.go.com (I think) and it had no romance at all in the entire thing. It was all action. ALOT of action. The kick-ass and don't even bother to tke names kinda action! If you have not seen this newest trailer...er...see it!

Cerek the Barbaric 03-21-2002 03:09 PM

So tell us, Larry, what do you think of the latest Episode 2 trailer?

Larry_OHF 03-21-2002 03:13 PM

Ok...if I can't post the picture...I will atleast offer the link to the official poster of the movie...

Oh,,,and that trailer I was referring to is called the Clone War Trailer...#4. Is this the one that was originally being discussed? I am confused. Me dumb.

My foavorite part of the whole trailer is the last scene. I paused it and counted twelve Jedi knights, in a circle, all of them blocking laser-fire from thousands of androids that have them completely surrounded.
Man...that is going to be one big scene...

Rokenn 03-22-2002 12:33 PM

I have read a couple of reviews of a rough cut of AOTC. They seem to agree that it is a much better film then TPM. And that it actually makes TPM a better movie, as the character development in AOTC puts some things into focus. Here is a mildly spoilerish review of the rough cut :

Thoran 03-22-2002 01:00 PM

I just saw the non-romance trailer yesterday (took my 6 year old to see Ice Age - good flic)... but the AOTC trailer looks incredible. This movie should kick some serious butt. The last scene where the Jedi are surrounded gave me shivers... pretty titanic like... you know they're all gonna die but man they go out in style.

Rokenn I just read that review... I don't think I've ever read a more positive review in my life! If the movie lives up to half the enthusiasm I read I'll be seeing it twice the first night! (only ever did that before with Matrix)

Here are all the trailers... I'll download the latest this weekend, I can't wait to see it

OK and what's with the freakin androids. IS the movie rating system so messed up that I can't watch a few stormtroopers get blown away without an NC-17 rating. GEEESH George you write let James Cameron or Speilburg direct they now how to do a battle scene...George you getting old and yuppified. Pull the parental advisory sticker off your ass and loosen up. BAM!

What NC-17 rating?
What are you talking about?
Why are you angry at something that is not true?

Sir Mandorallen 03-22-2002 02:37 PM

Okay now... lets see... Episode II.
I am a fan of Star Wars, but Episode I disapointed me alot. Episode II also looked like it would dissapoint cause I dont want a Star Wars movie turned romance... but that was before I saw the other trailers and got the latest edition of the Star Wars Insider.

I agree with you all the jedi in the circle looks great but you left out Obi-Wan's battle with Bobba Fett's dad! And the scene that shows all those clones in white armor (like storm troopers) walking up a boarding ramp into a ship. It looks AWSOME!!

Personaly I want it now. But I'm not one to camp in front of a theater. ;)

Well...I probably won't be able to get in for a couple weeks, anyway. I remember trying to get into LotR. It was not a pretty sight. People would be in a line and then the register would close because the guy up front had just bought the last ticket, and all these people were cussing and shouting and calling on their cell-phones to tell their family that it wouldn't be happening for them that day. Man...talk about horror! We were close to riots and fights!

Whoa. Maybe you should come on up to Western New York. I got outta school early went and saw lotr in Rochester and no one was there!! There were about twenty people in there. And this is one of the best theaters near us... and its in a city.

MILAMBER 03-22-2002 03:37 PM

This guy seemed pretty impressed with it. I personally don't really know what to expect, but I do know for a fact that I will go see it.
