This is what I've been working on 6 hours a day for the last 4 nights on and off, and half of this huge update adds LOADS of things:
*** TOTALLY replaced Undermountain Level 3. You'll be shocked at how different it is--and how many things there is to do there. (Some quests are in there now, so are in the other half of the update coming in a few days). Changed a few things in the Tavern, some NPC's looks, the Bedrooms a bit, Level 2 somewhat and a few other items. You REALLY need to check every nook in Skullport though, (level 3) to get the full experience.. Hidden doors, quests you get by READING letters or notes... Roleplaying. :D Please check it out and post your thoughts here! :D (And if ye see bugs, post them here too!! Thanks my victims...er I mean friends! ;) |
Way cool! I can't wait to get some time to play again! :D *wonders if her husband would miss her if she played all night on Fridays.....* ;)

Dang man...sometimes I think Ziroc is really Halaster. I mean,,,don't ya think it's obvious?

Z,
About Level 3: Is the 'Cornered Local' a quest? He asked for help, I talked to the guards, they went hostile and I killed them, but the local kept asking for help...is that normal? The guard by the docks said I need a pass, yet I havent found any sort of pass, I did however locate a different item that the guard looked at and said was a pass... but it wasnt. Wow thats confusing... but I am not trying to give stuff away. I cannot get around the bed to get a look at the safe, I destroyed 1 fancy stool and still cant walk around the bed. Toreg-akk looks like a mervhant or a npc to speak to, but dosnt respond at all. Ok back to looking around.... [ 06-08-2004, 08:59 PM: Message edited by: Teri-sha Illistyn ] |
Z, Can we still warp to 3 to have a look around? Or should we walk down there ?
I might be able to get on for a bit to night and check it out for you. |
there is still a way down to level 3, its not too secret of a way, I kinda like it as opposed to the portal
|
Yeah, I'll make it more secret. ;)
BTW, everyone, try to go in via normal routes(from level 2) just to get the full experiance, because the enterance has a BIG hidden quest. Now the guards have to unlock the 2 doors in the hallway to level 2, but you can click on the guards through the bar doors and she'll open it for you. BUT, if you haven't entered that first door, she will make you pay 200 gold to enter--don't worry, she'll remember you paid her to get back. I'm adding corrections and finishing the second half of the update now. |
Woo Hoo more secrets to find. Z my wife is gunna kill you. When you put all these secrets in there I have to spend more time trying to find them and less time with her.
Your getting me in trouble THIS MOD IS ADDICTIVE! [ 06-09-2004, 04:37 AM: Message edited by: T-D-C ] |

I'm actually finishing up one right now, and will be online around 8AM EST -5GMT. I love adding hidden stuff. and stuff for people that check every nook--a special treat. Here is how deep I go with plots and secrets: You see a letter in a container, and it says someone needs to hide from the guards, and where he hides his 'stash'. You then, can do find it. Later, somewhere, you may find the authors bones or dead body and on him is ANOTHER quest. I'm packing Skullport with this stuff. I kinda want it to be like a living underground city. I'll be doing the same with Level 13. |
My First trip to Skullport.
I went in to the new level three last night! Very nice, I think I checked every nook and cranny! I think I red every book in the book cases and cleaned out the store rooms. It seems like someone should challange you and call for help when you open the storage rooms! To just walk in and clean out everything was just to easy and no challenge was strange. You really need to make it so that only someone with thief abilities and stealth can enter that easy and only if they can get by some kind of securiety. I was useing my paladin and it was like I was picking flowers. Next I went to the docks and nobody challenged me on the way in. I cleaned out every Box, chest, cart, and container, still no challenges. Then I left the Dock and retuned to the gateway that return's you to the market area. Just after the gate opened and I started for the market and a guard asked what I was doing, I handed him the phoney papers I bought at the thief market and he said I could go to the docks. The only problem was I was leaving the docks not going to them? The forge Doesn't work! What do I need to do to make it do something? I did Right click on it and then clicked on the use button after which I placed a (forge)Sword and a(forge)Jewel in it then I closed the forge. I then reopened it and both the sword and the jewel were both still sitting there next to one another. I removed the Sword and jewel and went searching again. The new layout for Skullport is great! A 1000 times better than the old one. One thing I remember from the old PNP Game,"The Ruins of Undermountain" is there was alot of monsters just outside of Skullport on the same level. Then as you traveled from the Market area to the dwelling area or to the docks you would have to fight one now and then in fact that was where I first incountered The gellatiness Cube, and there were always alot of thiefs with a 25% chance of an encounter in the passage ways. I couldn't find any quests except the one guy in a cave room that had two thugs that were suspose to be after him. After killing them I went back to him and he said help I'm being attacked buy thugs again or something like that, it was the same script as when I first talked to him. I left the room and made a note to let you know. After that I left because I had seen everything that was there to be seen. |
amazing change! i just dropped by awhileago. Z may have noticed me cuz I thought for a moment i was really talking to halaester and he teleported me from lvl 12 to lvl 4 . so cool!
anyway.. i met up with roddybug and we were very determined to find the lowerlevel secret place. we scoured every inch of the blasted place and found all the secret doors that was placed in the book. honestly, i thought roddy and I was never going to find the secret entrance to the lower levels then poof.. i found it by accident :D . lucky me. hey Z, is the secret door with the thief has anything interesting? i talked to everyone.. there is nothing special in that room. also, i do suggest that if you are going to make a shortcut from the yawning portal to skullport im just suggesting that you should teleport them somewhere not near the entrance of the "secret" passage to the lower levels. that way people will still have to explore a bit. or not.. just my 2c. cheers! |

The secret from the Tavern Bedrooms isn't near the other secret--not at all. The dead thief is part of a hidden quest. You need to look EVERYWHERE. Every crate, bedroom safe, and behind the stores themselves. You'll find notes and such to lead you to things... :D CrimsonBlade-- Remember, this is just the first part. Since last night, I Have added the corrections to the scripts (cornered local) and added more npc dialogue. Also, yes, expect to be called out when you get near chests and stuff. I'm working on that now. Go to the docks, and go to the chests to the left. The guard will walk over and tell you to get away from them. It's hard to do so many things, takes time, but it's getting there. JUST for the cornered local, that took 8 scripts. (and 3 INT's). crazy, but the payoff is HUGE, and adds to the gameplay. I'll be adding all the final touches on it from today till friday!! |
I was loathe to steal everything on my first trip to the new lvl 3, I did peer into quite a few crates and got shouted at by a guard! Great stuff! I had visions of the whole level going hostile - I'll poke around more next time

Hey Z Looked around Skullport today and it was great. I love the place. Was determined to search the whole place and I like where and how you have hidden the teleporters. Makes it a bit harder for everyone to find them :D
I also like the new way from the Inn to Level 3. Kinda reminded me a bit of the Level 13 entry. Great Job Z! |

For those of you that have read the Series of Forgotten realms Novels known as "The Nobles" They are 5 books: #1.King Pinch, by David cook #2.War in Tethyr, by Victor Milan #3.Escape from Undermountain, by Mark Anthony #4.The Mage in the Iron Mask, by Brian Thomsen #5.Couneil of Blades, by Paul Kidd In the third book "Escape from Undermountain" when Halaster is finally found, he has built himself a complete living model of Undermountain! the adventurers find that (ZIROC) Halaster has modeled every room and every trap, monster, adventurer, and thing in super detail. Then He has taken to smashing the adventurers and monsters with a silver hammer or taking firey molten metal or rock and poring it on the now living models. Some times he will take a group of adventures and send each one to a different level and each one will have its own Dangers to fight or escape from, If they can or die. All the time this was going on they could here Halasters' Laugh echo threw the Caves. I think that Mark Anthony met Ziroc sometime before 1966 when he wrote the book, Escape from Undermountain. and now at any moment a big hammer is going to come smashing down on my hea NO !NO ! not that NOOOOOOOOOO SPLAT!!! |
