I have a kind of a hard desicion to make, I'm about to enter Baldur's gate and my party consists of:
Myself: mage Minsc, tank 1 Ajantis, Tank 2 (never played with him before and he is pretty good) Kivan (With bracers of arcery and Bow of markmanship... he takes outobgoblins and smaller enemies in one shot) Branwen tank 3 and healer. and Jaheira, which only job seems to be to die a lot. Anyway, I switch to Coran in Cloakwood and left Imoen there with a promise I would pick her up later (bad idea since Coran is terrible at finding traps). but now I have to get Imoen back but switched Coran for Ajantis. I'd like to finish the damn game with Jaheira in the party, for continuties sake, since I plan to import the party to BG2 and I feel kind of bad for leaving her behind even if she sucks... strange how these pixelated characters grow on you... So what would you do, get rid of someone else or abandon continuity? Any way to get Jaheira to be more useful, she hardly has any useful spells and really sucks with her weapon. |
Give her a quarterstaff +1 (+3 if you've got ToTSC) or the dagger of venom. She's a great character, good fighter and healer.

Er, who's your thief? You need Immy back.
|
Coran's his theif. Just wondering, how do you plan to import your whole party into bg2? Are you using bgt or something?
|
Kill Ajantis, he is a terrible tank and he dies in BG2 anyways...
|
I needed a thief, Imoen, Coran is already gone and all the slots were filled. I got rid of Branwen and gave Jaheira a change.
I wont import all the party, but I just wanted to have the same characters in the party as a are in the beginning of BG2 |
if i was you i'd lose Jaheira and replace her with imoen. Remember you can always kill jaheira at the start of BG2 (thats what i do anyway ^_^)

Alternately Jorath, just pick people if they fit in with your party concept :) |
I thought it was impossible to have Minsc in your party without Dynaheir?
|
Not if she dies...
By your or your enemies hands |
Yep Dynaheir had an unfortunate, ehrrmm, accident. Who thought going up against 5 gnoll elites with no weapons and armor would result in such a devestation...

I think it'd make plenty of roleplaying sense to drop Jaheira, since Druids are lousy in BG1, and no self-respecting PC would drag around a party member who can't pull her own weight and is liable to get everyone killed. Seriously, her only good stat is her 17 CON, and what a fat lot of good it does her.
But, if you're married to the idea of keeping Jaheira (and therefore Minsc for the same reason), I would swap out Kivan, and let either Coran or Minsc fill Kivan's slot. My setup for this party would be... Ajantis: Tank and party leader Coran and Kivan: Archers and backup Tanks (and Lockpicking, Backstabby types) Branwen: Priest (to be replaced with Good-aligned Priest later) Imoen: Backup Wizard and Trapmistress You: Duh But you say that "Coran is already gone," so that seems out. |
