Is it NWN1 or NWN2?

robertthebard 01-28-2007 02:44 PM

Neverwinter Nights 1. Should have made a note of that. Still up, looking for opinions.

Larry_OHF 01-28-2007 08:53 PM

<font color=skyblue>I'll jump in there tonight about 10:30pm or a little after if that's cool. </font>

robertthebard 01-29-2007 09:07 AM

Ooops, sorry Larry, if you tried to go. I had to do some repairs, and forgot to put it back up after I finished. I added some updates today as well, and will be fleshing out the areas between the first town, and the first major quest today. Not to mention I may get the residential part of the main town finished as well. Then I can unlock that gate, so people can go look.

Marathon 01-29-2007 10:20 AM

I was in there for a short bit yesterday - just enough time to make a guy and run around the main town (Temple of Lathander - may have to make a Paladin...). Tried to go back last night, but it was down. I'll try to get back in one night this week when the kids decide to actually sleep at night...

robertthebard 01-29-2007 11:53 AM

Cool, let me know what you think. I've added a lot of stuff this morning, and the updated mod is up now. Check the bulletin board in the temple area, it has quests listed that are either ready, or that are coming. The Graveyard quest is fully fuctional, as is one quest out of the tavern. There will be more quests out of the tavern soon.

Garnet FalconDance 01-29-2007 02:16 PM

Well, I was just romping through The Labrynth. I encountered a couple problems. PMed them to you.

LOTS of potential.

robertthebard 01-29-2007 08:05 PM

I've made some modifications, particularly in the area of bugs. I've put some new stuff in too.

toot033 01-29-2007 08:37 PM

I could not get teh spider quest to work in the tavern. But it looks awsome RTB!!!!
P,S I'm leaving the spelling misatkes....

robertthebard 01-29-2007 09:24 PM

It was broken, but I fixed it. One of the bugs I was referring to in my last post. Hehehehehehe...

Larry_OHF 01-30-2007 12:15 AM

<font color=skyblue>I tried last night...and yes it was down. I'll try again tomorrow I hope.</font>

robertthebard 01-30-2007 08:35 PM

toot033 01-30-2007 09:39 PM

I was running around and really enjoy everything you have done. ( a ceratin thing did kick my butt). I hope some Monk gloves will be added soon!
Keep up the great work!!

robertthebard 01-31-2007 12:05 AM

Thanks, dude. A monk specialty store went in on tonight's update. I've got so many ideas, and so much more story to tell. It's going to be interesting, but I can see this module getting up to 100-150 areas, and still not being done.

Larry_OHF 01-31-2007 12:52 AM

<font color=skyblue>Here are some random thoughts in journal format that were going through my head up to the point that I was slain and eaten by undead zombies.

xxxxxxx xxxxxxxx

Spoiler Warning

xxxxxxx xxxxxxxx

1. Man! Who doesn't have a shop?
2. Ooh...I like the shop inventory on the racks. Makes it feel realistic.
3. How in the world am I ever going to afford anything in any of these shops?
4. Cold Storage? My journal says Grave Yard quest? I have a key to the grave yards...so where's Cold Storage?
5. I need more Healing Potions! I cannot rest anywhere!
6. I am finding a lot of unidentified items, but how will I afford to have them identified?
7. Finally! A cape that I can wear without needing to ID it! Its a +3!! Woo!
8. Crap! I open one tomb, and four zombies come after me! Why? Why? Why? Wh...
9. I...died. Freak. Oh well, its time for bed anyway. I wonder if I have to save my character or is it auto-saved on the server? Oh well...I'll save it anyway. I wonder if I chose the right class...</font>

robertthebard 01-31-2007 08:33 AM

You can rest in the catacombs, you just have to get to a spot where there are no enemies. I'm waiting for a consensus of more than 2 to figure what to do with the zombies, as I have 2 votes, one that likes them, and one that got eaten. I got a rogue quite far into the crypts before her first death, so a ranger should be ok.

Garnet FalconDance 01-31-2007 10:13 AM

Pfft, I have a ranger who was handed her arse by a mob of zombies in the catacombs, remember?

Larry_OHF 01-31-2007 11:02 AM

<font color=skyblue>I took two levels of ranger and then one level of rogue last night before I died. I was pleased to see that I leveled up that well in only one area, but I never made it through the entire last area. I was almost there. I opened the first coffin at the opening to the last room when 4 zombies jumped me and I could not fight them off fast enough. I look forward to trying it again tonight.</font>

robertthebard 01-31-2007 01:04 PM

I discovered what you meant about the cold storage/temple thing too, it was calling the wrong journal entry. I fixed that, as well as added another lower level quest. Your char will now spawn in by the bulletin board after you have talked to the portal. It seems an inconvenience right now, but once I get a few more areas in place, it will start becoming a long walk to get back where you were, and I intend to use the portal to jump you to the last area you have a key for. Well, it will jump you to the beginning of the next area, so if you have the key that unlocks the door to lvl 2 of the labyrinth, you'll start at the beginning of level two. I'm also going to try and find a way to make a special thieves tools thing to act as a key ring, so that you don't wind up with 500 keys.

Larry_OHF 01-31-2007 11:38 PM

<font color=skyblue>Is it not going to be up tonight?</font>

robertthebard 02-01-2007 12:23 AM

It's up and running. I had it down to reset it, but that was only for a minute. I had some journal issues to work through, but they are all fixed. You must have hit it right when I pulled it down for the update.

Edit: Note to self; write all journal entries after the fact, and apply them where applicable. I've spent 4 hours trying to figure out why I couldn't get my OnDeath journal entry to overwrite the initial quest entry, only to end up re-writing the whole thing, which is what fixed it.

<font color=skyblue>I was on there for more than 2 hours yesterday, having a great time. Here's how it went down.

******* *******
Spoiler Warning
******* *******

I was surprised to see that upon dying and reentering the tombs, all the monsters AND treasure in chests were restored. This gave me the ability to earn more XP and more money.

I was sadly surprised when I got near the end of the tomb walk and ran into my second Zombie Lord, but this one was immune to my attacks! I had to run from him and go all the way back to town...forgetting that I had that map thing...and with all my money, buying a +1 longsword, the weapon of choice for my ranger/rogue/shadow dancer. I am not sure I want that character anymore. I may want to start taking levels in brute-fighter, but I'll think about it.

I got all the way to this one particular chest that held a greatsword, but since I was playing a ranger/thief, I knew that my agility was key, not strength...so I just packed the thing away in one of my two Bags of Holding (thank the gods that they are both a -100% bag). When I go down the stairs into the room which is the lair of the necromancer...I was shocked. There were SO MANY undead and I was so low level, I thought I stood no chance. But then I had an idea. I looked into my bag of holding at the Great Sword that I had gotten, remembering that it was one of few good items I had thus found that did not need to be ID'ed first. It was a Sword of Lathander, a Paladin-looking thing. It had magical abilities that I could not even use, but it was a special against undead. I thought...well...let's give her a try! I jumped in and began slaying those undead in such a horrific way, it would be rated R for extreme violence. I tore into them with such a wicked gleam in my eye, scattering their bodies everywhere and leaving green ichor in the wake of destruction. I was averaging 24HP per hit compared to my +1 longsword/guild dagger combo of 11HP/hit. It was such a thrill.

By the time I reached the lead bag guy, I was a Shadowdancer and could hide in plain sight. This kept me alive against his magic, because I ran from the battle twice just to rest and heal. I could not backstab for any good damage, which I missed, but I at least I ended his meager life, finally.

In other news, I had earlier been subjected to a trap that lowered my strength, and the thing would never go away until I had a priest lift the curse.

I also found a sneaky way where I could earn enough gold over a short amount of time to buy me some boots and a couple rings. I am afraid of telling you where it is because I don't want to lose it! Lol!</font>

robertthebard 02-01-2007 12:26 PM

I'm glad you're enjoying it, Larry. I've added a simpler quest for low levels, as well as fixed the quest the commander gives you. His reward is going to be a bit better than it is right now, but I have 198 lines of code to debug to get it to work. So far...

PS: Some of those chests respawn so that all players have a chance to get the treasure within. Some of the items will be upgradeable, as soon as I make the upgraded versions, and add them to the forge. Doing it this way, I don't have to worry about resetting the module every day, or having it reset on empty. It's pretty close to persitent that way. The Road to the Grove, which happens to be what the Commander refers to as the East Road, has a massive update, as of today. I'll be working on stuff in the residential side of town, as well as laying a few more quests, or at least the groundwork for them.

Larry_OHF 02-01-2007 01:11 PM

<font color=skyblue>What's the deal with the storage facility in the Tavern where some thief guild members were hanging out...and I asked for a key to that door down there and he gave it to me and it led me to a temple-looking room, but there was nothing there to do.

I was trying to find the so-called cold-storage, which I have not yet found. </font>

robertthebard 02-01-2007 05:29 PM

Cold storage is right behind the tavern, it looks like a hobbit house. That tasty room in there is going to be a subquest that you will be eligible for, since you got the key.

Larry_OHF 02-01-2007 06:43 PM

<font color=skyblue>Ah...okay...I'll just keep my thief/ranger/shadow-dancer active then. I was sorta thinking about taking some thug points, but maybe I'll just take more Ranger points and raise some strength up. I had too much fun with that Great Sword last night.

BTW>>>HOLY CRAP! I never saw that link to evanescence.com before now! I LOVE this rockin' chick! I have not been so adamant about attending a concert since Metallica was touring with Suicidal Tendancies and Alice in Chains back in the day! There's just something about her voice in front of that guitar, man. </font>

robertthebard 02-01-2007 07:18 PM

They are Internationally known, but relatively new. They had a couple of songs on the Daredevil Movie/Soundtrack; Bring Me to Life, and My Immortal, the latter being one of my new favorite songs, despite my own Metallica bent.

robertthebard 02-02-2007 01:41 AM

Variables, integers, they are all the same, but not if you don't put them in the scripts that way they aren't...The commander is fixed, and there's a new quest related to that one in as well. I nerfed the archers a bit as well...

Larry_OHF 02-05-2007 12:53 AM

<font color=skyblue>First time I've loaded up the game since you saw me the other night. I notice that my journal is completely empty on to-do and completed tasks.

A bothersome thing was that when I was in that new town that links to the farm, I was in the Inn and I'd pick the locks of the doors and they would open, but while I was inside they would quickly close and relock, so I had to repick them to get out.

Thanks however for offering a thief something to find in those rooms. ;)

</font>

robertthebard 02-05-2007 12:17 PM

Bwahahahaha, set up for my ultimate trap...

toot033 02-05-2007 07:52 PM

I found 2 bugs today:
1) When I had 2 kamas equiped 1 was +5 and 1 was +1 but would regererate, my ab was a 9/4 ( as if I had only the +1 equiped). whenI removed it my AB jumped to 15/13 and would jump back down if I re equiped both.
2) Whe I tried to leave the pass to the gnoll area, it would not let me leave.

robertthebard 02-05-2007 09:28 PM

I think your first bug was probably a build thing, if you don't have the Ambidexterity, Two weapon fighting feats. I'll look into the the transitions though.

If you're talking about inside the keep, that part isn't finished yet. Sorry, I've been jumping around trying to keep enough stuff done to keep people playing.

I fixed the multiple zombies spawning on top of chars in the catacombs, should only get one per coffin now.

Edit: The .hak files I am using can be found here:
