Firt part has to do with the game cheats. When I get into the game and press [Ctrl]+[Tab] nothing happens any idea why? The second part has to do with a topic I heard you guys talking about. What do the golden pantaloons and Drizzit have to do w/BGII?
|
I thought you needed to press control and the space bar to activate cheats? I've never really been big on cheating so I'm probably wrong ;)
With regards to the pantaloons, they are one of the few items you can take through to BG2. Eventually you will be able to combine these with an item you may find in SoA and another in ToB to form a suit of magical armour. Drizzt is a dark elf who you meet in BG1, and who also puts in an appearence in BG2. |
I think the spacebar combination works for BG2 only, and in BG1 you need to press Ctrl + Tab.
Maybe this is too obvious, but Hawkins, you did enter the line "Cheats=1" into the right place in your Baldur.ini file, right? [ 04-22-2004, 05:30 AM: Message edited by: Melusine ] |
I enterd Cheat=1 under game options yes. I normally dont cheat either but I am playing a game through with a friend and needless to say we are fighting over who gets the tomes. That is the only reason I am trying to use the cheat. I have beaten the game befor with out them with different charecters, but the two we are playing with now are going to be carried over to the second game. Does the fact wether or not you are nice to Drizzit or if you kill him matter in BGII? Is he the one who is about to be burned at the stake? Or is that a different char. Havent played BGII in a while.

Add the lines "Cheats=1" and "Debug Mode=1" (yes, spelling is very important) under the lines "Game Options" and "Program Options." Quote:

Yes I know exatally where your comming from, and we both are planing to dual class. The problem is the stats we originally start out with are in anticipation of receving the tomes. For example , Dex at 15 /getting bonus' at 16 , Wis at 14 / getting bonus' at 15 / Cha at 12 / receving reaction bonus at 13. So on and so on. Thats why I figured we would try to take the easy way out. I know I know cheating sucks but I find this situation to be semi-acceptiable.
|
But not really... It's common sense. You each get three tomes, and, depending on the class, you probably only *need* two each. I like Six's idea... Give us classes and maybe we can help you out.
|
I say fight over the tomes. The one left standing gets to have the spoils. Or do paper, scissors, rocks.
|
Awww, let the poor blokes have those tomes already. :D
Have you tried Six's suggestions Hawkins? If they didn't work, you could download Gatekeeper, it's a really easy to use editor for BG1 save games and characters. Using GK you could manually insert the Tomes into your character's inventory. Only if you promise these nice people that you won't use it to cheat on any of the other items, of course. ;) |
Why don`t you two just throw a coin for the Tomes? If it tails you get it if not he gets it.

Not just a different Drow, but a later installment in the BG series

Anyway as has been said that's a different Drow. |
As far as the tomes go, one little stat point here or there is not going to make or break your game. Don't sweat it. Play nice and share.
Drizzt plays a minor role in BG2 and your actions in BG1 could affect the way things happen in the future. You can meet the other drow in both BG1 and BG2, and she makes a fine companion later on, if you know what I mean... Although the special "garments" that you can find throughout the game made a cute easter egg, the end result was never really that useful for me. Yes, it's a fine suit of armor but by the time you can assemble it, you won't really need it. |
Melusine was right we wanted to find a way to get all the tomes. Each of us. And yes the drow being burned at the stake isn't Drizzt, It's some chick. However I have to strongly dissagree about the one point here or there not making a differance. What if your a dwarf and only have 18/04 str , 19 con , and an 8 for cha. Putting 1 point in str will make a diff. to your hit & damage. 1 point to con will allow him to regenerate. And 1 point to cha will change his reaction to player char. So if were both playing dwarfs????????????????????????
|
Easy. It depends on which one is going to be the 'leader' and interact with NPCs.

Sorry Mel, I hadn't read your post I was responding to Dron_Cah. Not everyone has the patience to read the entire thread prior to making a post.

Your right Ill Drat, I'm not dissagreeing with you , Six , or Mell one bit. But the two of us plan on playing a two member party and want to play through as close to the max as possible. Part of that includes the fact if you played through the game by yourself you would get +1 to STR / DEX / CON / INT & CHA, and +3 to WIS. With the two of us both being fighters the tomes of STR / DEX / and CON are important to both of us, I myself am dual classing as a cleric and would be the leader so of course I would get the pluses from CHA and WIS. We are simply trying to save time from playing the game through more than once. I aprecieate all the help and input from everyone though! :D

W-e-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l................
If you insist on CLUAing in the tomes, the most legit time to do that would be when you're in the city of Baldur's Gate itself. If you were actually in a city like that, I would imagine you'd be able to find those kinds of items. They're not common, but they're also not unheard of. You should consider wasting several thousand GP for each tome, to make it fair. |
