It's out! Go to the vault for links to the downloads. It's slow though but well worth the download time

(EDITED BY ZIROC: You can download it at Ironworks too, scroll down to the bottom of the screen)

Yayyyyyyyyyyyy :D .

Albromor 03-24-2004 11:23 AM

philip, for we ignorant types, a.k.a. me!, what will this mean for the NWN community who not only build modules, but play them as well? I have played some top notch modules by community members and if means even more improvement then by all means this is a great thing. Please explain what this provides and do those who simply play need to down load it?. Thanks!

philip 03-24-2004 11:32 AM

It's a collection of high quality custom content. It was composed by the CEP team and the content itself is made by different community members, I think on the Bioware site there's more info on the team itself.

The idea was that a lot of different hakpaks with the same content in it is annoying, so the team made a selection of the best files and put them all in the hak. So module makers can add this in their modules instead of loose haks with of the same content. For players it means they only have to download the hak once and they can play all modules which requires it.

edit: errors

For you local IW folks, you can download the entire file here at IW:

Download Here - 122MB

Don't share this link with anyone, because if we see it posted out on the Internet, we'll be slammed, and I will have to remove it.

Let's ALL download it! My Mod, EfU will be using this HakPak SOON!

TheCrimsomBlade 03-24-2004 07:26 PM

I have high speed internet and it only took 2 Hr and 40 min to down load so every be patient, there must be alot of people tring to get this Hack pack at the same time.
So now that I have the "Z" pack I'm not going to load it into my game until You say your EfU Mod has it unless I can still play on the Mod before EfU Has it Please let me know or I'll ask This question in the forums where you will see it. :D Thank you very much.

Ziroc 03-24-2004 07:32 PM

Yeah, it'll be a few weeks MAYBE sooner, if I really get into it, and can't wait ;) . I'll make the announcement the second it's added to EfU.

You can install it now, it'll just sit there and will only be used when it's needed, so go ahead and install it if ya want.

Totally sweet! The first thing I did when I got my PC out of the shop is dl this sucker ( took 5 minutes on cable from the vault). Wow, its totally free yet I feel like I should pay for such excellence.

I will have a special edition of the "novice to epic character maker module" up at the vault in a week or two (edit- well, on second thought... give me a month at least) that has this attached. It will include a new arena to face the new monsters and new merchants to buy the new weapons and other items.

The little I've seen of it looks impressive, but I'll check it out fully when I've downloaded it.

Anyway, I've got two questions:
1. Why are there several versions of it, newbie and pro?
2. It's not gonna mess up any modules that doesn't use it, right?

philip 03-25-2004 01:09 PM

Pro is for people who want to install it theirselves from what I gather. Also pro allows you to edit/add stuff or something like that, I read that on their site.

No it won't mess up modules that don't use it. It's just there in case the module needs it.

Stratos 03-25-2004 04:19 PM

Thanks!

SpiritWarrior 03-26-2004 12:24 AM

"Pro" is a manual install whereis the exe does it automatically. The manual install is especially useful for builders who have altered their 2da's or tlk files for instance.

You may, however run into problems if you use the cep and another hakpak however so It's best not to.

Ziroc 03-26-2004 06:04 AM

I wish they added the Displacer Beast to CEP. I figured they would, but nope.. :( No biggie. I will add it along with CEP maybe.

Larry_OHF 03-27-2004 04:49 PM

How do I get a CEP creature into a mod that I have started building today?

They do not show up anywhere except for that open day mod that came with the download.

HELP!

Chewbacca 03-27-2004 05:20 PM

Larry-
here is a link for the CEP builder's guide. FYI- It is a PDF document.

http://www.nwncep.com/downloads/buildersguidev1.pdf

It will outline the exact steps to add the CEP to your module. Look on page 7.

Basically you want to goto module proerties and select the custom conent TAb and then add the CEP hakpaks in the order described in the guide and then add the CEP tlk file.

That is all I did to get started and it works fine.

Malavon's Rage 04-06-2004 09:11 PM

Two new dynamic creatures suitable for PCs: the Wemic and the Brownie.

^^, so...how exactly do I play as these characters?

SpiritWarrior 04-06-2004 10:20 PM

Too much hassle to DIY trust, me. Even custom prestige classes are a pain in the ass nevermind races. Wait for someone else to do it (a few are currently) and then download it on the vault.

Do It Yourself.

Chewbacca 04-12-2004 01:54 PM

I have added a CEP edition of the +Novice to Epic Character Maker to the NW Vault. It includes lots and lots of new CEP items and over 50 CEP monster opponents in the small arena.

Click here to goto the module page.

Only problem I've had with it (in CEP mods) so far is the metal shields that show as a black 'empty' spot in the inventory and as a huge bag attached to the adventurer's arm and one NPC who was headless yet carrying on an animated conversation with another NPC.

Otherwise, it was well worth the 6 hrs it took to dl on dial-up.

***Chewie, I adore your Novice to Epic mod! Haven't dled the new CEP version yet but the old one has come in handy for a lower level character who needed some serious training before he went into a higher level mp mod with Septfox. Cheating? Nope, kept him well within 'normal' for xp range armor- and weapon-wise so he wasn't uber.
