okay...i just got BG and i installed it yesterday....today, my computer says that one of the files is corrupt...so i reinstall BG...still corrupt...run "chkdsk" program...still corrupt...im getting very aggrivated because i've have problems similar to this in the past...damn windows XP...

I have TotSC, if that makes a difference, and the corruption is with the temporary file "AR4200.exe"...can i just download something or what?

Remove the data completely from your computer, and then give it a shot.

This is a legal copy of BG, I hope? That could be a problem.

Or a damaged CD.

If its in the cache folder, delete it and a new version will be created.

My PC sucks too. I am able to play BG1 on it, but I wonder if it is able to run BG2 without too much 'lag'.

Well my PC has a mind of it's own!

We use our new PC for high spec games and an old Win98 PC for older games like BG1 and IWD. Now the old one has a bug - it won't switch off, no matter what I try, yet if I unplug it then it won't come back on again next time. I think it wants to stay switched on to play BG1 by it's self when no ones looking.

wipe your hard drive and re-install windows 98se. its better to just start over. If you can try to write your save games to disk or send them via E-mail to your other computer. if not, starting over isn't so bad I just finished reloading over 50 games after my computer went up in a blaze of glory. my old computer is now a boat anchor at the city dump.
good luck

My old computer is now sulking - I turned off the power at the wall (before it could complete BG1 by its self) and now it refuses to turn back on again - ever. Not much chance to do diagnostics if it won't apply the power, so a visit to the PC doctor may be in order. Hey ho!

My computer's not old but somehow it has the specifictions for games but they don't run or crash all the time. It's frustrating. Down with technology!!
