<font color=skyblue>If we were told that a new expansion would be ready before the end of next year and that it would be as good or better than HotU...what would you expect or hope to see in it?

For me, I would like to see:</font>

</font>
 • More avatars from a real artist that does it right.</font>
 • Fix that stupid problem where casting a breath weapon spell involves raising one's hands as if casting a spell.</font>
 • More beholder-kin. There are some good ones to have!</font>
 • Dopplegangers</font>
 • Attack plants</font>
<font color=skyblue>
That is all I can think of now. Not enough to warrent an expansion...so can anyone else plan something better?</font>

Good idea....the only way I would play the game is if it was 2D! I love the concepts, the music , the art, but I WISH it was 2D!!

SpiritWarrior 12-10-2003 10:19 PM

What I want is :

</font>
 • More avatars</font>
 • MorePC heads</font>
 • I'd love that breathe weapon problem to be fixed too and it could easily be done with a freeze effect or such. While were on it lets fix the gaze attacks so medusas don't have to raise their hands when they look at something.</font>
 • More soundsets and portraits. I want to see some evil soundsets, monstrous/demonic. After all, we can choose hellspawns and assamir as PC's...</font>
 • Undead beholders, gorbels, green slimes, grey oozes, mustard jelly, mimics, nightmares, unicorns, pegasi, treants (!), strangleweeds and more fiends (new fiend avatars, c'mon people the balor can only be reskinned so many times).</font>
 • A Lycanthropy effect incorporated into the engine like poisons are, rather than being scripted (hey, I can dream).</font>
 • Masks and hats that are wearable and removable magical/nonmagical.</font>
 • The wizard spell 'Fly', or It's likeness adhering the the engines limitations on flying creatures, hey even levitation would be cool.</font>

IŽm completely with you on that one spiritwarrior heh heh

IŽd like to see a plot where the main character becomes involved in some kinda intrigue between Thay and Aglarond ( perhaps ) and has to make up his mind...I mean...not so linear a plot...but a possible two-line plot where main character could choose to stand with the red ones ( Nice one of U happen to be evil alligned dragon diciple )or U could stand behind Aglarond and the simbul...

More heads and soundsets...I love those *LOL*

And more robes and stuff in game...perhaps some set-items so if U gather boots, armor and helmet UŽd get somethin Xtra

IŽd like som expansions to harper scout...it is SO lame right now...the worst class!!!

Anyway...the only D&D book I have is about...Forgotten Realms but it is an old thing from 96...but it is actually quite good for ideas when making modules to NWN

Legolas 12-11-2003 04:56 AM

-More scripting commands to really access spellbooks, the spells in it, which ones are memorised and so on
-More of the simpler low-level monsters such as xvarts, gibberlings and brownies
-A tool to auto-download haks would also be very welcome
-A number of non-combat oriented spells like Speak with the Dead, Levitate and Rary's Telepathic Bond. Why? Because.
-Non-detection spell (scroll). Wheee!
-Perhaps a number of epic feats that allow you to bypass immunities, and turn them into resistance instead. Enchanters and Immune to mind affecting spells, Weaponmasters and Immune to criticals, Rogues and Immune to sneak attack... It's rather annoying when you try and perfect a skill, only to find the majority of the enemies you get to face at that level aren't particularly concerned about it.
-Boots, I want boots to show on the character model.
-More skillpoints so you can actually pick one or two feats that aren't mandatory for your class. Especially with so many skills around now, it would be nice to actually be able to select a few of them.
-Underwater tileset(s) and creatures

I'm probably forgetting the really important stuff too.

<font color=skyblue>I also do not like how I am not allowed to change the clothes of any NPCs or monsters...only the NPCs that have specific names like Linu and Sharwin are allowed to have clothing changes.

Also, have you noticed how many Drow there are in the "elf" section...but for the other elves there are only like two heads, one male and one female? I need more diversity!</font>

That's cuz they are skins rather than items. You need to make your own NPC's from scratch selecting the 'Human' or 'Elf' avatar and placing custom stuff on them.

Larry_OHF 12-11-2003 11:55 PM

<font color=skyblue>I need you to explain that a bit more to me. I have attempted to make custom people or elves...but I am never able to put custom clothing on them...they are always in their default drag,,,no matter what I do to them. I also am pissed that there are only two elf lady heads. Linu and the blond mage elf's head. We need more NPC options!</font>

SpiritWarrior 12-12-2003 12:32 AM

They are default elves. Anything that has something like 'Elf Male 01' or 'Human Female 04' is default and is not customizable. The clothes are actually part of the creatures in-game skin as is the face and other appearances. They're like Goblins or Balors - you place armor on them and it won't show through in game.

In order to create your own Human, Elf etc. choose the avatar appearance simply titled 'Elf' (male/female) or 'Human' (anything without the numbers on it). These are like PC avatars and you will see that your 'apperance' tab is not greyed out allowing you to customize all you want .

JrKASperov 12-12-2003 02:12 AM

-better frickin' armor looks
-better frickin' weapon looks
-better frickin' head looks

etc.etc.

WOLFGIR 12-12-2003 04:48 AM

Real subclasses and ecl creatures that are playable.

Let us play a real tiefling, aasimar or drow if we like.
They don't have to give us all, but at least some puuuulease.

- Deathknights. Something that really is Greyhawkian in theme but well.. they make for good enemies.

- Some more custom things for character generation. More heads, more avatars etc.

- Some more prestige classes for all classes to take, like archwizard, Hierophant, ninja of the cresent moon or some other more monk influenced prestige class, Planar warrior (or whatever its name is). How about some for rangers, and not so many race exclusive, unless of course they open up for bladesinger....

- A plane hopping adventure for Epic levels are always nice. Well, anything that actually can take one away from Faerun would be nice cause I am actually getting a bit boored with Faerun right now.

Larry_OHF 12-12-2003 09:04 AM

<font color=skyblue>SpiritWarrior...I finally found what you were talking about. I could not figure out why you were using numbers beside the creature titles...but I did find that I could create custom creatures under the wizard tool at the top of the screen. I had never used that before, only the category to the right of the screen.

Still...sadly, the create creature wizard only allows you limited things. I am only allowed to change her head, neck, add wings and a tail...besides clothing...but I am not allowed to change her arms, body, nor legs, even though the spots are open to make changes.

I just want all creatures as customizable as your own PC.

By the way...thanks for getting me this far!</font>

SpiritWarrior 12-12-2003 12:45 PM

The wizard tends to be awkward and time consuming if you are creating multiple NPC's since you have to start from scratch each time. Let me show you in this image (sorry about the format quality as I saved in JPEG so not to clog up on loading times).

http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0TQAAA...51013177553471

Create an NPC from the monster painting tool > NPC's > Elf Male 1. Paint it down and click the appearance tab. You will see that you can't change anything there as It's a default NPC Bioware used in the OC and left there for us to use as we will but not to edit. TO make your own quick, customized elven NPC choose 'Elf' like you see in the picture above and paint it down. Now check the apperance tab and you'll see everything is cutomizable including clothing/armor. tattoo color, skin etc.
You do the same for Humans or Dwarves or any NPC race. Once it does not have a number at the end of it (Elf Male 2) you can customize it as these are the generic skins made for builders.

With me now ?

All the tileset really adds are jelly/star/normal fish placeables, shell placeables and sunken ships. The rest is a matter of using the proper lighting.
What I think is lacking are moving sea creatures (you have to use green slaadi and elves with blue skin currently ), floaty/swimming animations and, just as importantly, sounds. You could claim the ocean floor should really be soundless, but that gets rather boring after a while. Plus you'd have to remember to place a lasting 'silence' effect on the PCs too, or it would look utterly ridiculous ;)

That's not to say I don't like the module, just that the tileset doesn't contain the additions I need. Additionally, adding the tileset in the hypothetical expansion would do away with the need for underwater hakpacks.

Larry_OHF 12-13-2003 10:01 AM

<font color=skyblue>Wait...I am not getting what you say I should be by these directions...</font>

monster painting tool > NPC's > Elf Male 1.

<font color=skyblue>When I go to the monster painting, then to NPCs, I have a list of races adn other. When I scroll down to elves...and open the hidden subcategory...I get drow assassin, drow mage...etc...nothing about Elf 1. The only place I have ever seen elf 1 is in the wizard tool.

Why can I not find the area you are talking about?</font>

No the Elf Male 1 and such are apperances (I used a dual example in my text which served only to confuse, apologies).

Look up at the screenshot and you will see they can be found on the apperance tab. So lemme retry this.

Creature painting tool > NPC's > Um..lets go with 'Drow mage'

Paint this down and then right click on the NPC and select properties. Checking the 'Apperance' tab you will find you can't edit the drows' armor, tattos etc. since It's all greyed out. Go back to the 'Basic' tab and select the appearance toolbar like you see I have done in the picture. Now change the Drow appearance to 'Elf' and you'll be able to edit that NPC's apperance from head to skin color as It's a generic NPC. Of course, in this case you started out with a drow so you'd have to delete the drow description, special abilities etc.

Ok once you have that down and your NPC created, right click and slect 'Add to Palette'. Now your custom NPC should be part of the custom creatures category under the name you gave it. The next time you need to create lets say, 3 commoners you can simply paint down your NPC 3 times and edit 2 of them to look different and have different names. This saves you the trouble of using the wizard to create a new NPC from scratch each time you need to fill up space.

Z-AXIS would be nice and then we could get things like FLY,JUMP and SWIM.

Larry_OHF 12-13-2003 10:56 PM

Done. I have finally got it...thanks for your patience.

HolyWarrior 12-14-2003 02:34 AM

An expansion where you have control over a PARTY, not just one character and a henchman.

In HotU you can have more than 1 henchman. It's not like a party but it comes closer

SpiritWarrior 12-14-2003 03:27 PM

Now that I think of it every expansion heralds the addition of a new DnD aspect, in SOU it was pretige classes, in HotU it was epic levels. I think the next one should give primarily give us more Races/Subraces and new core classes. A few suggestions:

Classes

Psionics
Shaman
Purple Dragon Knight (Prestige)
Runecaster (Prestige)
Shadow Adept (Prestige)

Races

Drow
Lizardman (shaman anyone?)
Avariel
