OK I just have to know who all out there are going to buy this?

http://www.ideazon.com/nwn/index.htm

I am thinking about it hard. I went ahead and bought the base unit and will post what I think of it when I get it. I ordered the base keyborad from Amazon for $31.99. It is over $25 so I did the free shipping. Who knows when I will get it but the NWN part does not come out until 7-25 so I am in no big rush. www.gamestop.com Has the NWN top listed for $19.99 so if I buy it I will go that route.

Thanks,

Granamere

Weird..and nice but no way. Money-making scam IMHO. I guess for hardcore collectors this would be something...but then again I didn't buy the CE, lol.

Just as a matter of interest, why would you buy that, Granamere? Hot keys and the like do all they need to do. Just look at they way the try to soup the whole thing up, selling it on comments like 'Imrove your gameplay performance' so people will rope in under the illusion that this would make their game better.

This board is a good Idea for some games but it doesn't seem that there is much difference between My Logitech keyboard and this Z-board other than the lables on the keyboard them selves and the spaces between the keys in order to make room for the labling. I have played NWN enough times that I have the Hot-keys memorized and so do most people that I know that play NWN and SoU. Now I can see this system for some of the other games that they are advertising but not for NWN.
Anyone that has the extra $50.00-$60.00 to buy this key board system and doesn't want to just look at the keyboard hot key list that comes free with the game thats fine with me but, I don't think I'll buy the Z-board myself. I'll use the money to by The Temple of Elemental Evil when it comes out in aug. or sept. this year instead.

I've got some waterfront property in Saskatchewan, I'd like to sell you.

SpiritWarrior 07-11-2003 10:16 PM

LOL! You nut.

TheCrimsomBlade 07-11-2003 10:27 PM

Hay Animal are there any beach front areas? I could build a dock to park my canoe with the 350 chevy engine in it so I don't have to paddle up stream. :D

This looks like it may help me be a better, faster DM. I suck at rememebering and keeping track of hotkeys, my fingers just dont hit the right keys. This is much simpler and the mouse alone is too slow. Thanks! I'd pay $20 for this.

If anyone wants to sell me any property anywhere for $20 PM me. I bet I can sell it for at least triple. ;)

It's funny. I'll not buy it however. I hardly use the keyboard while playing, the only important button is space, for other things I use the mouse

Granamere 07-12-2003 11:06 AM

OK you must remember you are talking to a guy that owns one normal NWN. One collectors edition at $50 and two more at $30 for a total of four copies of NWN. Two copies of both the origianl strategy guides for a total of four guides. I currently only own one copy of SOU and only one gudie for it.

With that out of the way.

I am very picky about keyboards but I keep wanting a better version of the MS Sidewinder Strategic Commander. This keyboard says it come with software I am guessing the it might let me program the normal number keys to be like shift-F1. OK I do not get to see all of the keys unless I press the shift key but it would make things easier if I had just a few more hot keys for spells and wands. I really wish they had the whole three rows of keys at the top. F1-F12, Shift F1-F12, Control F1-F12. Then if you print your own stickers that would fix everything. That is one of the big reasons I do not want to play online that much. I need pause to go find something in alternate key lists. It kind of sucks to pause an online game with a bunch of people in it. I do not use the Strategic Commander because I would need a hand for the keyboard, a hand fo it and a hand for my mouse.

The reason I posted this here was to get feedback from people here to see what everyone thought of it. Amazon says the base until has shipped so I should be getting it sometime next week so I will post a review of it before I even think about buying the NWN top for it. If the keyboard does not feel right that will end it there for me. If it does suck $32 for a backup keyboard is not that bad.

Chewbacca Just to make sure you are following. You have to buy the base unit for about $32 then buy the NWN top for about $20. If anyone can find better prices let me know.

You don't get out much do ya Granamere? (Joke ). You are nuts though lol. I can understand the multiple copies and even the CE but come on man, the strategy guides?! Everyone knows that's just the companies last shot at making a cheap buck. Don't tell me you bought the SOU one too...seriously when I saw them advertise that I just rolled my eyes and groaned. If you really insist on getting detailed walkthroughs on the OC and 'character building guides' you can find it all online you know. Oh well..

I don't use hotkeys that much at all anyways. Everything I do is mouse-driven except for voice commands. I PVP all the time this way and win alot of battles too, so I guess I'm pretty fast with the mouse.

Chewbacca 07-12-2003 07:18 PM

Thanks Granamere for clarifying.

I'm willing to bet Bioware gets a cut of these add-on products. Supporting them is reason enough to by the "extras" in my opinion.

GForce 07-17-2003 11:57 AM

nah. don't need that. looks like another keyboard. btw i use a a logitech wingman rumblepad and keyboard. works great and easy on my hands & wrist. better than the mouse IMO.

Bruce The Aussie 07-17-2003 02:39 PM

well...although i don't really wanna buy the NwN top...i do love the desighn. if they bring out more tops, say for deus ex 2 and such i so wanna buy it. i worked out its about £30 for thwe base unit and £12 for the new tops, which as keyboards go is damn good. also, if your enough of a nut to buy four copies of the game, i understand why you might want the keyboard. sounds good though...4 copies. wish i had that much sparte cash...ofcoarse i'd prolly just save it to buy a radion graphics card...but thats just me

Granamere 07-18-2003 01:29 AM

Still playing with the keyboard. Tech support for Ideazon needs help. If you get the keyboard and you have trouble with it let me know I might be able to fix it for you.

The split spacebar is funky but not bad. The hot keys are great! I now can hit one button and bring up bioware web site another brings up google. You get 9 keys you can have launch an application, document, directory or a website. They are the ones at the top of the keyboard. They do have pictures on them but you can still reprogram them to do whatever you like. They do not light up. I was wishing they did. :( I received the IE keyboard with it. If you are like me and know that the “windows logo key” on the keyboard can do so funky things if pressed with the right other key but you can never remember which ones do what this is the keyboard for you. Below several keys it shows the “windows logo key” and tells you what that combo does. Like “windows logo key” and “L” does lock, “windows logo key” and “F” does Search, etc. I know there are a bunch of other keyboards out there that do the volume and mute thing but this one does it also. No big deal but my old keyboard does not do that so it is an upgrade for me. Also you can have the software utility auto launch the software whenever you put the keyboard in. so if you removed the IE keyboard and out on the NWN keyboard NWN would launch. Again no biggie but kind of neat just FYI this is disabled by default.

Bottom line. If you need a new keyboard think about this one. If you see a function on this that looks good to you get it. Otherwise wait for your current keyboard to break before getting this one. I am going to go ahead and get the NWN top for this one. Hey it is only $20 more so why not that was the reason I wanted this one.

BTW I use the keyboard and Trackball. It also helps out with wrist problems. Also remember I bought two of the collector's editions for only $30 each. The shirts are worth that to me.
