A few specifics to mention include some of the improvements to the henchman system--we're working on improving henchman AI, as well as giving the player control of the henchman inventory. The first expansion pack will be similar to the original Neverwinter Nights where the player will have one henchman accompanying them on the journey, though we have an additional goal of making the henchman much more interactive, and we're exploring the possibility of having more than one henchman in the second expansion pack. BioWare's upcoming Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic will feature an expanded party system, as will the new PC intellectual property we're currently working on, but not yet talking about.

With regard to the new monsters, they can best be described as "bigger and scarier!" As Ray mentions above, we are able to pull out all the stops in our expansions and sequels as the designers have greater skill and experience they can apply to creating new content. Not only will the monsters in this second expansion pack be bigger and cooler, but they will also be considerably smarter as we have plenty of time to design new and powerful AI systems for creatures and enemies to use.
Cool!!!! 3 new tilesets, new monsters and AI! All sorts of new stuff! I'll definitely buy the collectors edition to help fund these!!!

I was just about to post it, but saw it then :D

i posted a while back that the expansion pack would be called Shadows of Undrentide, everyone denied it, so there,I was right! :D

Edit: forgot the word "back", so...

Any idea when either of these is going to release?

Micah Foehammer 11-30-2002 09:29 PM

Udrentide is supposed to be out in spring of 2003 and the second expansion in summer of 2003.

Of course, there is always the witchwork series to tide you over.

Darkman 12-01-2002 02:05 PM

Well the unfortunate thing about this is that modules made with the expansions can only be played with expansion versions of NWN. This would force people to go out and buy TWO expansions if they wanted to play any new modules. That sucks. I sure hope the xpacs won't be too expensive...

Memnoch 12-02-2002 04:37 AM

Looking forward to this. Anything that improves the toolset's functionality will be a big bonus.

T/-/alali 12-02-2002 03:58 PM

Yay I hope there are more feats to choose from and your sub-race will actually help deturmine some of your skills and things.

Micah Foehammer 12-02-2002 04:06 PM

If I read the Bioware forums right, you can still influence what will be included and what won't be. The mods / designers are scanning the boards for suggestions / requests. I think some Prestige classes will be included as well as additional feats and skills. Not sure about subraces, although that would be nice -

EDIT:

Prestige classes are DEFINITELY in - NW Vault took a poll on their forums and here are the results of what people WANTED.

Arcane Archer (583) 10%
Archmage (618) 11%
Assassin (739) 13%
Blackguard (481) 8%
Divine Champion (308) 5%
Divine Disciple (95) 2%
Divine Seeker (77) 1%
Dwarven Defender (323) 6%
Guild Thief (235) 4%
Harper Scout (259) 5%
Hathran (33) 1%
Hierophant (143) 2%
Loremaster (230) 4%
Pple Dragon Knight (286) 5%
Red Wizard (373) 6%
Runecaster (280) 5%
Shadow Adept (223) 4%
Shadow Dancer (464) 8%

Bioware is NOT saying yet how many are in, or which ones are in ....

If I was guessing I would say anything at 8%+ for sure and possibly 6% or better from that list made the cut, but that's only because I want to see the dwarven defender in and NOT because I have some secet pipeline of information into Bioware's plans. lol Ooops .. that can't be right because Harper scout was already confirmed, so MAYBE the cut point is 5% ... lol

Attalus 12-02-2002 07:51 PM

Whohooo, I will buy them both, I don't care what they cost. Wow, Prestiege Classes. Heck, I'll buy two of each. Wait until I tell Piestrider!

DraconisRex 12-03-2002 04:40 PM

Thank you all for the posts and updates. It'll be nice to get back to this game once they "finish" it. (It came out half-baked, IMO.)

Volguuz RageWaar 12-04-2002 01:28 PM

AAAAHHHRRR , Dammit, i live in Portugal Men, do you know what that means???
Oh yeah the most probably of things is that i have to pre-order them, it sucks, you see is that when NWN got out in Algarve after 6 months the stores were still full with it, aaaahhhhrrr ... you lucky ones....

Micah Foehammer 12-04-2002 01:49 PM

Draconis,

Having NWN "finished" seems to me to imply that ALL of the content that can be added will have been added - no more tilesets, monsters, new classes, new races and subraces. I just don't see that happening in the near future. NWN is Bioware's "cash cow" - and it's a brontosaurus sized heffer at that! lol Don't expect NWN to be a "finished" product anytime soon.

Attalus 12-04-2002 02:22 PM

LOL, I predicted this. NWN has too much potential for money-making for them just to up-stick and move to another, unproven game. After the expansion packs, look for NWNII (And Baldur's Gate III) :D

What?!?!? I already spent a small fortune on NWN---now if I want to furthur my gaming pleasure with these expansions and/or mods built upon them, I have to spring for *both*? Cash cow does not begin to cover the concept!

::shakes head:: No, no. Going to stick with plain vanilla mods/games.

Attalus 12-04-2002 06:28 PM

Not me, Garnet! I'll buy anything that has NWN on it. Or Black Isle... But, I'm not gonna buy Knights of the Old Republic. Too raygunny.

HEY!!! I was in line first!!! lol

Attalus 12-04-2002 06:37 PM

*Reaches past Micah F. and runs off with the last box, laughing maniacally.*

Micah Foehammer 12-04-2002 06:41 PM

*casts time stop*

*runs up and grabs the box from Attalus*

*casts invisibility*

*casts Non-detection*

*slinks off into the shadows*

Granamere 12-04-2002 09:55 PM

Cries Thief! Thief! Thief!

The city guard come and because they are unstoppable catch you and haul you off to a dungeon. In the midst of the commotion. I step in and quickly buy the last copy and run off into the night.

Granamere

I hope no one has read any of my post on my favorite class to play.

WHA??? I'm gonna be all over Knights of the Old Replublic like white on rice.... well, processed rice, anyway. But I agree with you guys; if it's Bioware, I'm interested, and if it makes NWN better, I'm DEFINITELY interested!

Now there, finally we're speaking, can you imagine NWN with a story such as BG, OwO, eh, beautiful, how many times had i said that i lost the count... :D

Not even NWN is better in it as BG, (just imagine BGIII - Bhaal's Awakening...)

Micah Foehammer 12-05-2002 05:00 AM

Granmere,

tsk tsk

The city guard don't have the requisite skills to detect invisible

*smiles silently and stifles a chuckle*

*continues walking away as the guards wander around aimlessly and grab at the air*

Garnet FalconDance 12-05-2002 08:25 AM

Ok, Attalus. I *might* look into one of them........

Whoa boys! Slow down and stop your fighting. OR this little half-elf might just have to settle the matter and claim the prize for herself! looks over the box and wonders.... :D

Attalus 12-05-2002 09:27 AM

Not fair! Those spellcaster types pull tricks on us paladins all the time! *Realises guiltily that a paladin wouldn't swipe the expansion pack away from his friend...thinks "NWN Expansion Pack" ... hovers on the fringe of "Fallen Paladin." ...*
EDIT: to add: Nice sig, Micah! ;)
