Maybe if you lower a different variable. I'm not sure. I'm working on a new experiment. I'm not going to go to server. Don't have the time. YOu might parallel me by making a new save gave and experimenting on your own.
ADVICE: Make a new save game and experiment with that character. Not the one you want to fix. |
YOu might want to try the dm_modifyWIS command and the dm_modifyXXX where XXX is the 3 letter (all CAPS) abbreviation. YOu can use + and - variables. Such as dm_modifyWIS 3 and dm_modifyCHA -3
I don't know if there is a command that can unlevel you. I don't know them all. |
I think when you cheat it must toggle a flag in the save file. I haven't hacked them out yet to check. Cheating will definitely make your character invalid for multiplayer and will even block you from going into a new chapter. I tried changing the str on mine and then changing it back using the cheats and I was still invalid.
Maybe someone here has found a way to remove whatever toggle is used when you cheat. |
So, obviously, has anyone found out a way to make your character legal after editing. I am not cheating big time, all I want is a high Wisdom. My druid is pathetic in spells, he can only get 2 lvl 9 spells because he has a low wisdom, thats all i want to cheat for!

I believe there's a walkthrough at GameFAQs.com that includes cheats like character editing, and a way to make that character "legal" after being edited (at least to go between chapters). I have no idea if it will make the character legal for server play, however.

You could try making a module and creating an item that gives a plus to wisdom permanently. I haven't worked with the editor much, so I don't know if this is an option. If it works, load your character into the module, get the item and use it. Then load back into the main game. Make sure you do this near the beginning of a chapter, because you can't load into the middle of one in a single player game.

Not sure how into programming that you are, but you can hex verify an "original" character (copy of the character, never play with the original) at level up when you are advancing to get an attribute change. Then save the same character with the attribute changed, and then compare to the "legally" modified character. This will show you the bits/bytes you need to modify in order to make your own modifications. If you don't have any hex editors that can do bit compare, I would recommend finding one on the net as this makes things much easier. Course, the other option you could do is make some mods that will give you XP you need to get what you want, allocate points on initial character to what points you would have LIKED to start with. Then run the character in your module and let the XP raise you levels. (Depending on your skills, this may be the easiest, safest way to go.) Then allocate the points how you want for each level up, adding to the scores you need to have. (Time consuming, but will make for a legal character.) When you change a byte in the character without compensating for a bitset, that is why the character is not coming up legal. The program knows that you changed something in the character (not always what was changed, but sometimes). If you follow the "legal" bitwise editing, you will know what memory locations are affected and can then raise /lower scores as you see fit. The game may have programming in to determine if skills are raised above a certain level, so you may want to take that into consideration when editing (Don't get crazy with the numbers, try adding 1 first before adding 10. LOL)

you can create a new character in the prelude and save character quit game got to multiplayer and connect with one of the servers that will give you free HP to get you to level 20, save character. go back to nwn and create new game selecting premade characters, select char you just saved from online and level him up all at one time. select the attributes you want and your characters ready for play. Its not a cheat because you havent got anything more than what the game gives you and you havent hacked anything. experiment with it it works.

http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/modules...49559682.shtml Not sure if you can create Quest items, but it could be helpful. If nothing else, you can recreate your character allocating points to the stats you "messed up" on when you were making them and since it uses game play leveling, will not make you illegal. |
