Is NWN a single player game as well as internet play. Is it like BG2 just with 3rd edition rules :saywat: ?
|
Yes NWN also has a single player game about the size of baldurs gate 1 & 2(or so I have heard)
|
Two big differences: You won't be able to assemble parties of six as you did in BG. Instead you will have one 'henchman' you can control to some limited degree. And you will play without pausing (which was only necessary because of the burden of having to control up to 6 characters anyway).

I like mages, and I would like to pause when I'm scrolling through spells at least offline. |

So, one character per player, minus any followers or such your character might have, but you can hang out with your 63 friends in one giant adventuring party if you all so desire. |

I heard that you do can have a party in the single player game, made of NPCs which you have very limited control over. You can give them items and stuff i think (although i'm not sure) and you can give them suggestions, but the control is nowhere near the level of bg2 for instance. as for the campaign, i think it's quite a bit smaller than bg2's and there are fewer paths to take. more like an expansion pack i would think. anyway, the point is to get you into the game really and introduce you to your character. the nature of your party in the single player game will be similar to online play, because you wo'nt be able to directly control your fellow adventurers, only suggest things to them. |

I hope ya control one character that is alot better. And npcs in your party is cool long as you don't gotta control them its annoying . I still like bg2 though its alot of fun.

In the first message the guy said (above) wot do u mean like bg2 just with thrid ed rules, bg2 already uses the thrid edition rules |
No, BG II does not use 3rd edition rules. PoR II sort of used 3rd edition rules, but not really. NWN will be the first CRPG to use 3rd edition rules.
|
i coulda swore that bg2 used 3rd ed rules, cuz it has the 3rd ed classes like monk and sorceror etc and u can duel weild weapons and stuff, i thought it was third ed rules that let u do that and i could have sworn that on the box it says it uses 3rd ed rules, somebody pls correct me if i am wrong.
|
If I remember right you will be able to control your one NPC. The catch is that when you're controlling him, your own character won't be able to move. I don't think your NPC's will carry over to online games though.
Oh and I read about the control system. They might have hotkeys but are really pushing a new control system instead. Right click and then push your mouse in three different directions. For example up, right, right, could be magic missle. Up Right Up, could be fireball etc. I'm taking a guess here, but that gives you a lot more options than hotkeys. |

As for pausing: yes, it is in the game, but only the standalone module. Understandably, it can't be supported in multiplayer mode. (This last point I have directly from the developers.) |
Who told you you couldn't dual wield in 2nd Edition? I know, since i own the DM guide, that you can dual wield in 2nd edition and im pretty sure Barbarian, Monk, and Sorcerer are in the second edition as well.
|
so how come monks etc werent in the first bg, also u couldnt duel wield in bg 1
|
Dont get me wrong i arent stil arguing that bg2 is third edition but i think i now agree with what somebody said above that some elements from third ed were added to the second edition in bg2

Various kits and specialized classes found in the numerous 2nd edition AD&D supplements allowed you to play as Barbarian and Monks, and possibly even as something similar to Sorcerer. Barbarian and Monks were both classes in 1st edition AD&D, though the Sorcerer was not. |
So tell me, i know NWN is gonna be mostly a muli-player game, so is accessing multi-player gonna be easier? i mean i never did on BG2 cause it was way too confusing. If youve played Diablo or Diablo2 multiplayer, you know how easy it is to access. So will it be easier or the same as it is now?
