Found the book gave it to the ghost but i have a feeling it still Aint over, what do i do?

Arledrian 04-21-2003 05:19 PM

What do you do? Get over that feeling. It's over, dude the monsters will just keep respawning so don't feel like you haven't killed them all or anything.

Dar'tanian 04-21-2003 07:41 PM

Im a bit dissapointed I excpected more no rep. and the guy stays as a ghost!

Arledrian 04-21-2003 08:57 PM

I know, it's a shitty quest really. Unrewarding. Still, it's only meant to be a 'filler' - and you get quite a bit of experience from all those vampiric wolves, spiders, and jellies in there.

it was a bit dull wasn't it?

having said that i ended up playing it in a window with the sound off and 'auto-pause when enemy sighted' is making me very lazy ;)

good quest for a barbarian & thief combo i reckon (hack-hack-hack-pilfer-hack . . . . )

there is a second part of the quest that Ulcaster can do for you, if you find highlight the text for spoilers the broken armor from the Firewine bridge, and IIRC the ring of folly (if not the ring then another cursed item) he'll make an enchanted sword for you {/end spoiler}

InsaneBane's poiler is correct, but it's my educated opinion (my, aren't I the pompous one) that this "quest" would be much better if all knowledge of it dropped off the face of the earth. Really. It should never even have existed, and therefore, to my mind, it doesn't. It's pointless, adds nothing to the game, is utterly nonsensical and doesn't do anyone a damn bit of good, so I for one would be much happier if people would stop mentioning it to show off how much they know about the game.

Note that this isn't a rant directed at Morgeurat and InsaneBane, it's just that this stupid little "Easter Egg" really gets on my nerves.

That quest and it's completion award, is the WORST FRIGGING QUEST EVER! AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH! Stop telling people about it and just bury the knowledge that nobody needs to know.

YEAH! That's why I just give him the dumb book and NEVER bother with that sword!

AND I heard that sword is actually CURSED!

I heard that there's a trick that you can employ with this Sword, in which you can receive "free" healing.

But it seems to be more trouble than it's worth.

If you give this cursed sword to Kaigan or any NPC, then invite him back into your party and have him ATTACK your injured party member(s), it will actually heal the attacked person.

This obviously drains the attacker's health points, but in the case of Kaigan (I think it's because he's a Dwarf) he will regenerate his health after you dump him from your party and leave him, then go back to him the next day after he regenerates health.

Do this whenever you need a quick healing. But like I said, this method of healing tends to be more trouble than it's worth.

Not much, but here's another thing about Ulcaster: The book which Ulcaster wants can also be found twice in Gullykin houses. Bring him those one by one and you'll get more xp.

InsaneBane 04-23-2003 04:42 AM

Never did the quest myself. Never did the stuff about giving Ulcaster more than one book either. I am an XP-holic, but not by cheese or cheating. It would be easier to just use an editor.

I was just looking at what you wrote Sir Heinrich and I am saddened by your lack of respect for the mighty Kagain. I too have tried the "use the sword to heal your friends" tactic and found it too much hassle to bother with, BUT I would never steal his HP and throw him out of the party. Now which of you is the evil character. Why would you want to ditch a great fighter (who regenerates HP), just to replace him with some pansy Elf or whimpy Ranger. LoL.
