I know a lot of you play Paladins. I'm running one now. What is a good Paladin party, in your opinion?

Currently, I have:
Kalid
Jaheira
Minsc
Kivan
Imoen

I am on my way to rescue Dynaheir, and I intend to get Kalid killed so Jaheira won't have to leave - but maybe I'll just let them both go.

Anyway, advice requested. There are just so many NPCs. I really need a mage or bard - for the ability to identify if nothing else.

Hey, don't forget about good ol' Ajantis, he's a paladin.

I'm pretty darn sure that there are two Bards in the game, but please don't quote me on this, or else SixOfSpades will come over here and embarasse me!

One of them being Garrick and the other (name?) can be found somewhere in the Cloakwood Forest, can't remember exactly where though.

Also, there's some kick arse fighter chick named Shar-teel out there some where, but given the fact that I have never included her my party, I can't remember if she is good aligned or not.

There is Xan who is a decent mage, but he is neutral aligned, and then at the begining of chapter 5 there's my favorite Illussionist/Cleric named Quayle, who is also neutral aligned.

Maybe that little Yeslick guy is good aligned, atleast I think he is.

You'll never need more than one paladin or ranger in a party.

Dynaheir is the best mage in the game, but since she's she's an invoker I don't think she can cast Identify. Try dropping someone for Garrick. Or dual Imoen into a mage.

Invokers can't cast from conjuration/summoning and enchantment. It's the conjurors that can't cast identify.

The other bard is Eldoth, the evil bard. You can find him on cloakwood forest #3.
Shar - teel is a CE fighter. She's good, but her low Con comes to mind (9).
Otherwise you got them right.

Absent minded me. Thats even better. Get Dynaheir and just throw out Kivan or Khalid. Although Khalid is a fag I still would keep him due to his use as a fighter. I'll admit that Kivan is the better character and has some unique weapon specialties as well. Up to you I suppose.

Don't forget Branwen. I would personally rather have her (equipped with a +2 hammer, sling and shield) than Kivan. She is a good secondary healer, while he isnt, and also can be used as a tank in a pinch. If for some reason you lose Minsc/Boo then Kivan may be a substitute. If you need some magic power The Bard Garrick can learn some spells and be your ID man. He can also use wands.

Garrick however is isnt much of a mage - in my opinion the best way to have mage power is to make the main character one from the beginning.

My daughter is playing through as an elven multiclass. She has developed good thieving skills but as a mage she is little better than a bard.

my paladin party looked similar, with a few exceptions, first take Minsc OR Kivan, not both, if you add Ajantis you can use the free Prot vs evil twice as fast, heal extra times and it makes good RP sense to have a paladin ally with another with similar attitudes and goals. Dynaheir is great if you keep minsc (with the exception being that your 5th lvl spells will be limited to animate dead and cloudkill, as the rest are either enchantment/charm or conjuration)

Yeslick is indeed Lawful Good, a great rp reason to add him, in addition to his use as a fighter/cleric.

Imoen has an equally compatible alignment, being NG, and she can dual to a mage, giving you that firepower if you don't want Minsc(and the tagalong Dynaheir)

personally I'd say drop jaheira and Khalid, unless you want to see their "special" ending with TotSC Jaheira because she is dedicated to balance and complains nonstop when your rep reaches 20 from doing paladin type goodness, and Khalid is a pansy.

I think you are a little light in healing - though the paladin can cast from scrolls and lay on hands. But perhaps you dont get hacked up as I do.....


I need some healing lest my hamster become an orphan.....

I would suggest:

Paladin: Tank/healer
Minsc: Tank (give him Bracers of Dex 18)
Coran: Thief/Bowman
Branwen: Healer/sling(wo)man
Imoen: Thief/mage/bow(wo)man (dual classed at thief lvl 6)
Dynaheir: Mage/sling(wo)man
