I saw on a post (but i'm unable to find it now ..) that there were some important rules about the develpopment of a magic user (i remember something about not learning spells at the guild but using points for those ... grrr cant remember if its this or learn at guild not from books.. )
Any advices? All of those are welcome :) (I just started the game yesterday) Thx already |

Welcome to the board, Arfie!!!
You'll find lots of friendly advice here! We've got the best posters anywhere!! Keep us posted on how your game is going! Wyv |
Darn! I'm late for the party. Well, welcome to the boards anyway, Arfie. May your travels through the Gael Serran bring you fame, fortune, and friendship.
I see Packrat's already pointed you toward some of my old words. You might want to peruse the Best Tips thread for more suggestions and specifics about almost everything. One warning: the information in there runs from very general to very specific, and is very full of spoilers. Keep us posted on how you're going along. |
Welcome to the board Arfie! I see you already have some good information, yes, go to the 'This Thread' and also Wyvern's best tips (probably the same thing). At the bottom of the page is a printer friendly version and if you have plenty of ink, I advise you to print it off. My printer printed printed 69 pages, but it is worth it. There is everything you need to know there and I am still after playing the game several times, learning new things to do. This forum is the best way of finding out more. Happy gaming and "May your travels in the Gael Serran be Good"! Watch out for the Mantraps after Ishad N'Ha is all I am going to say though!

Welcome Arfie,
As they say around here "THEY WILL HUNT YOU DOWN" :D : |
1 minor tip for the mantraps: they ALWAYS use long range attacks n as they say..
THEY WILL HUNT YOU DOWN TILL THE APOCALYPSE ARRIVES!!! |
When you say learn spells at the guilde, is it from booksor is there another way?
Whatt should i Train at the guild ? Spiritualiity or Vinecraft ? :) (yes i just created my cleric... second member of the party, first one being a human warrior (guess what.. she's female ))) |
Arfie,
It is better to train vinecraft before spirituality until you have it at level 7. It is important to get your level 7 spells before you change roles. It is much easier to train up at the guild except for the 1st level because it only takes 1 point. It is also better to learn induvidual spells from experience then from spellbooks because you do not get any mana boost from spellbooks. |
Arfie,
Training at guilds doesn't matter a whole lot in the long-term play of the game. Before you get near the end, you'll be at least level seven in every spell school you can get. That being said, I'd get up to level 4 Vine ASAP, and then go to level 7 Spirit. There's a certain level 4 vine spell that's very handy when you get to the serpent temple... and just a short review of the short list of spells should identify the little gomer. And I always train spell schools at the guilds (with the exception of level 1, and in rare circumstances, level 2). Spend all those skill points on sorcery instead. |
