With your solo game, what level are you? Are you still a Ranger?

BK

Wyvern 05-28-2001 03:09 PM

Think he must be busy zipping his game! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

But I would like to know too!! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

'Sup BK !!!

Thanks for asking, I was just reading your post. BUSY GUY !!!

Yes, I'm still a Ranger, at 16th Level. (7th Level Warrior -starting point)

Things seem to be going well. If Wyv can get me out of a jam (I lost a key) I'll finish the castle inna bit, then head to the Stout Mines. or the Booger Prison...

You seem to be flying along...

BTW, post your strat tips on the new TOB demon memnoch mentioned yesterday. I want to keep that thread cheese-free, and your input would help...

Ah, but I'm trying NOT to spoil it for me. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif Decision, decision. And don't tell anyone, but I've played 28 hours so far this weekend. Isn't there a place for gaming addicts? LOL Not sure what it is, but if it has five heads with each a diffenent color and looks kinda like a great wyrm, my advice: run like heck. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

BK

Black Knight 05-28-2001 03:21 PM

You're roleplaying this as a Ranger, not just playing it as a ranger, right?

BK

Black Knight 05-28-2001 03:28 PM

If so, are you wearing armor better than leather?

OK, then, never mind. I got a direct challenge on it (Can a solo Archer take out the (insert demon name here)) so I'm beefing up my strategy...

The thread I started is already getting hit by the cheese patrol (and I asked 'em NICELY not to do that)

And, yes, I'm trying to roleplay a ranger, as well, not just using the character class. So the Stout King is worrying me, as I don't have a pickpocket skill, nor would I want to kill him. (Unless I discern that he really IS evil)

Ah, yes...
The game is allowing me to wear the chain mail, but I just found some Leather +1. It's not as protective, but much more in-character.

Not if you want to have any sort of stealth skill, which is highly desirable in a solo ranger ...http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

As a solo ranger, RudeDawg, the only thing you'll be able to "bless" is the Artifact of Vine, which adds Toughness (unbreakability) to an item. You have to get the Cabalism trait (available at Temple Guild level 4) and then start training in "Blessings" skill. Each skill level lets you place an additional blessing on your armor/weapon/item.

For others: depending on your Artifacts skills, you can place various blessings. Artifact of Fiend lets you enhance how much damage a weapon does. Artifact of Spirit lets you bless weapons and items with bonuses to Hit and armor and items with Regeneration bonuses. Artifact of Stone lets you enhance armor and items with AC bonuses, and Artifact of Vine lets you add toughness (durability) to an item.

The best ones, IMO, are the Artifact of Fiend and the Artifact of Spirit for weapons, and the Artifact of Stone for armor.

Ryanamur 05-30-2001 03:00 PM

OK, to bless, you need to acquire the Cabalist trait from the temple (available after a certain level (about 4) and then raise your Bless skill. For each skill level, you can bless an item once.

To Enchant, you need to acquire the Occulist trait from the magic guild (available after a certain level again (about 5) and then raise you Enchant skill . For each skill level you can bless an item once.

Note that enchant and bless are cumulative. IE: If your Enchant level is 3 and Bless level is 4. You can decide to enchant your item 2 times but then you'll only be able to bless it twice.

Hope this helps

Ryanamur 05-30-2001 03:01 PM

Great post Saz http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Great timing to http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Sazerac 05-30-2001 03:20 PM

LOL Ryanamur! GMTA!

OK...on the blessing thing, if the weapon is ALREADY enchanted (when you examine it in the inventory screen, it'll say something like Enchants +x), then that's already a "used" enchantment. So, if you have a +1 Longsword (enchant +1), and a Blessing skill of 8, then you'll only be able to bless it 7 times. The more initial enchantments it has, the less you'll be able to bless it.

-Sazerac

Oh, one more thing, BK...wearing chain mail doesn't hurt your stealth in this game. Your level of stealth skill and the Sneak trait are what determines it. Sneak is available at Thieves' Guild level 3 and Stealth/Cloak of Night are available at Thieves' Guild level 5, or Bushi Dojo Guild level 3.

Ryanamur 05-30-2001 03:22 PM

Hmmm, Interesting. I could have swore that I was able to bless my Main Gauche +2 twelve times in total... Is this a patch/unpatched issue?

Radek 05-31-2001 10:57 AM

Sazerac is correct (unpatched game).

Saz, I'm not saying you CAN'T do it and have it work. Which is quieter, Leather Armor, or a few thousand chains clinking together ... Roleplaying wise, to be able sneak around, you need to have 'quiet' clothes ... http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif
