I uninstalled and reinstalled and .....
still get these stupid error messages 2 minutes into playing causing the game to freeze. The latest error message from the ruins: Bmp16_Load Error On portrait/pchead18.bmp I want to play so badly....... but get tired of saving my game every 2 steps I even did the full install!!!!!! Hardware acceleration is off!! Are the error messages tied to my save games? Even though I reinstalled is my save game toast too? |
Hi coach!!
I'm beginning to wonder if your problems aren't in the saved game. Can you take your next nearest save (you are saving in more than one slot aren't you??) and play that for a while and see if you have the same problems. Hope we will be able to figure out what the problem is!!!! Wyv |
Yep, played one of the other save games and still getting errorss.
Latest: Unable to open journal file: journal.003 unable to load animated texture efxgfx/particle/astor.ant *sigh "We're going to die, were all going to die" The last words of my party. LOL |
Coach,
Just to confirm that your saved games aren't corrupted you might try sending me one in zipped format via e-mail. I can then play it on my system to see if it's OK. At least this will definitely eliminate one possible error source... ------------------ Rick Help, Hints & Walk-Throughs at The WWHAP |
Never zipped anything before gonna have to help me....
|
Download a copy of Winzip here. Then install and run the program, select one of your save game files from the C:/Activision/WizardsWarriors/Save folder and zip it. Then create a new e-mail message and add the zipped file (about 200-400K) as an attachment, and send it to me at rick@volberding.com

OK I downloaded the winzip but it wont show any save games in the folder when i try to create a new zip file?
|
When you created the gamesave zip - did you click on the gamexx.sav you were trying to include?
First you name the zip file then you should tell winzip which files to add to the zip. If you have now an empty gamesave.zip - click on ADD and then point the prog to your W&W save files. Hope that helps. If not coach - you can always send me (or Xignal) an unzipped copy - will just take much longer to upload/download. Or if you have some place to which you can ftp a copy of your save game - that would work too. Wyv |
OK, emailed savegm.zip to Rick. Now crossing fingers for diagnosis...
Does Rick know the HEALING REALM spell for savegame files???? |
Gosh coach - I doubt it http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif but I'll keep my wings crossed if that will help!

Hi again, Coach! You are probably hoping this is Rick coming back with your diagnosis, sorry to disappoint you, but just wanted to take this opportunity to tell you what a wonderful Warlock/Wizard Rick is and just his diagnostic alone will most likely help to solve the problems, whatever they are. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif
Anyway, I, along with lots of others, are cheering for you! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/cheer.gif Hope you let us in on your adventures once the game problems are fixed. Stay close! Mammawlin http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...t1lg_opt60.gif |
FYI for everyone - Coach's save game was just fine. We'll need to explore other possibilities.
Coach, 1) Try running ScanDisk on you hard drive (Start|Programs|Accessories|System Tools|ScanDisk) to see if you have some directory or file problems. 2) Ensure you have plenty of free space on the drive continaing the game files. 3) Try installing to a completely new folder (or disk partition if you have one) in case some of the non-removed files from the previous installation are the culprits. Anyone else? Rick [This message has been edited by Xignal (edited 05-18-2001).] |
Yes, actually I have one...but I hesitate to suggest it.
ONLY do this as a last resort. 1. First, uninstall Wizards&Warriors completely. 2. Go to My Computer, click on C:, then Program Files, and delete the Activision folder. 3. Empty Recycle Bin. (take a deep breath) 4. Click on Start, then Run. In the Run box, type the following: regedit 5. When the Registry Editor comes up, click on Edit, then Find, from the Menu Bar. 6. Type in "Activision" in the box and click on "Find Next". 7. DELETE every folder (key) that refers to Activision. 8. When it finishes, repeat steps 5-7, substituting "WizardsWarriors" (just to be on the safe side). 9. Close the Registry Editor. 10. Reboot the machine. 11. Reinstall Wizards and Warriors...full game. There are no guarantees that this will work...but it's the next best thing to reformatting. WORD OF WARNING: never edit your Registry, folks, unless you know what you're doing! -Sazerac |
Saz: what if he has other Activision games? Wouldn't they be affected by the registry modifications?
Just a thought. |
Yikes, yes he would, Ryanamur. Thanks for pointing that out.
-Sazerac (who only has one Activision game...and plans to keep it that way!) http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif |
