Well I just got the game and installed it just fine. Sound and graphics are just fine. Made a few characters leave town and now whenever I try to move "CRASH". Usually kicks me back to desktop sometimes locks up.
I'm running a PIII 1ghz,nvidia 64mb, SB Live,30 gb hd, 128mb ram. I have up dated all my drivers,and shut down all other programs and tried all the hardware/software graphics settings in the game. This is driving me nuts. I hope someone can help I don't know what else to do except bring the game back for a refund.(and I don't want to do that) I also tried the patch from Heuristics.

I had this same problem, it ended up I didnt install it right....There was two files I needed to unpack first, and had to click on some reg file hehe.

Do you mean you installed the game wrong or the patch or what??

I still can't get this game to work! I can exit the town but after a few steps crash.
I hope there is somebody out there that knows what the problem is. I would hate to miss this game looks great.

You said you tried all the hardware/software options - are you now running the game in software mode? That seems to be the most stable mode and has the least amount of problems.

Well Im not really running the game at all can do anything but crash. The software setting seems to be the worst for me, crashing when I select a char. The hardware choices lets me make a party and leave town, crashing at the encounter with the Traveller. Thats as far as I can get. Anyone know if Heuristic Park has people you can talk to to fix this kind of thing?? The Activision site is just a waste of time.

Did you try installing the patch? I had a problem fairly late in the game. Whenever I killed the hydra, my game crashed. I installed the patch, and the problem was gone. No more crashes.

There are a few hardware things you might try:
- nVidia has posted new versions for their Detonator 3 drivers only a few weeks ago: get version 6.50 at http://www.nvidia.com . Officially the Detonator drivers are not supported; perhaps if you can find older drivers you might try those.
- I have troubles with Soundblaster LiveWare 3.0 and higher. Only version 2.1 works well for me. Don't know where you can still get those though. You might try to search the net.

Yet another dead-end. I am having the exact same problem as Ezarharden. No solution yet. Nothing from Activision either. They never have done a good job of supporting thier games anyway. Keep on trukin'. Maybe I'll get to play this game someday.

Did have an email conversation with someone who had crashes too, and after upgrading from 64 MB to 192 MB internal memory, the problems had disappeared.
You might also make sure the swap space of Windows is at least 300 MB large.

when installing i wonder if you re-installed direct 7x over the one you allready had. if ya did, that sometimes causes problems. maybe you should just uninstall the whole thing and start from scratch, maybe even restore your system to a previous period of time before you originally installed the game (assuming you have mellinium). there is a phone # on pg 80 of the W & W manual, might want to try that. Good luck.

Chech your directx version, if your direct x didnt load right your game will crash i had to reload my direct x before it would work. you need to have seven or later
