Where can I find a description of the little images that come up over the characters. Both good and bad would be great 'cos I just don't know what some of them mean?

adam mage 01-15-2001 07:29 PM

this I know of so far...
skull with crossbones = poisoned
chains = paralyzed
bugged-eyed face = blinded
green face = gassed/sick
gray face = stoned

to add:
foot w/wings = haste (speed)
arm w/lighting = heroic might
shield = armored
cross = blessed

Magnus 01-15-2001 07:34 PM

Thanks I'll copy it down!
P.S. The monsters west of ishad'na are way tougher than on the east. I went to get some experience there after finishing the serpant temple but I really got mucked!!

adam mage 01-15-2001 07:40 PM

make sure you build up on those experience, roles, and major damage spells!

Magnus 01-15-2001 07:43 PM

What do you mean by experience, roles?
(The spell part I got)

adam mage 01-15-2001 07:48 PM

roles = higher levels
experience = to increase your hit points

Magnus 01-15-2001 07:54 PM

The hit points issue is a major frustration for me. Yes, I do save the game before level up but the amount of times I get 1 hit point is just crazy. And I'm refering to my Samurai,Paladin or Monk. Sometimes even my Barbarian! I think there should be a minimum for each class (not count the class changes level ups)
I think it also makes more sense to base hit points on race instead of character class.

adam mage 01-15-2001 08:52 PM

here's another bad one... it just happened to me...

cross-eyed face with red top = insane (hint: it doesn't wear off)

Lily the Ranger 01-16-2001 12:44 AM

Sazerac! Great picture. That one is my favorite. That was how I saw mine . . . twas almost a shame to kill it . . . but considering I also had so other fellow tapping me on the shoulder (two-headed ogres) had to be done . . . was kind of surprised not to find pictures of these little icons in the book with at least a definition of what they are and hopefully with a description of how to fix things. I suppose you could view it as a puzzle but I wasn't amused . . . especially by wasting disease and insanity (Lily had 5 crazies to haul back to Brimlock Roon). At least the Paladin had exorcism.

Lily the Ranger 01-16-2001 02:06 AM

I think you mean insanity and true to medievel times beliefs you need an exorcist. Requesting another chart with these silly symbols . . . cant believe I am supposed to go thru the game not knowing!

Sazerac 01-16-2001 03:59 AM

Yet another one: the face with "green duct tape" across it means "Silenced." Ghosts and Wisps love to cast that one on you.

And the little guy standing in a yellow aura is what you get when you cast "Merlin's Shield".

Sazerac 01-16-2001 04:03 AM

And another one: the drowsy-looking eye icon means "Asleep." Your character will probably also be greyed out as well.

On the Insanity thing, Lil: both Restore Health and Exorcism remove Insanity, except Restore Health you can get at Level 6. Exorcism claims to be able to uncurse you, but it neither works on the Boogre curse nor on any cursed items you have equipped, so it seems to be useless except for curing Insanity (and Restore Health does that for a bit cheaper spell cost, plus heals you up to full HP). Exorcism is, in my book, worthless as a spell.

Elara 01-16-2001 01:08 PM

Gee, Sazerac, I've never been able to get Restore Health to cure Insanity. Is there some sort of trick by race or role I don't know about? Would save alot of reloading..

Few more icons:

little purple "o" = shadowed
stick man radiating blue light = invisible
red drop of blood = bloodlusted
muscular arm = toughened
green leaf = vine of life'd
foot with orangy bottom = lavawalked

Sazerac 01-16-2001 06:52 PM

Elara: No, Restore Health has worked fine with my guys, from Paladin to Priest. However, Sorcery skill may have something to do with it. All mine were casting it with Sorcery > 5th level. (BTW, I've got my Ninja -> Zenmaster at 11th level Sorcery! YOW! )

adam mage 01-16-2001 07:05 PM

what's this?

Lorelei 01-16-2001 07:51 PM

Adam Mage --
that one is "cursed"

adam mage 01-16-2001 08:00 PM

Lorelei - thank you thank you then my icons finally worked!

adam mage 01-17-2001 04:52 AM

Ok my icons are up and working at the icon thread I started on this forum 'Icon Images'
Lily and Sarerac can see them!

I need your help identifying a few of them!

Moonlight_Assasin 01-17-2001 09:15 AM

You forgot one, there is a skunk for repel.

adam mage 01-17-2001 09:48 AM

Moonlight - If you check the other thread: Icon Images, note that I have asked a question about the little image that supposed to resemble a skunk... actually it looks like a small tornado to me....

when I get them fully identified, I'll post them in a new thread either in this forum or the would-be new forum....
