You'll find a talking chicken early in the game. This is a quest and you'll find out that a skeleton head is needed. It involves a wizard as well.

You only need one skull, the others aren't worth a thing (well, 1gp in the right places)

Further Spoiler providing details to the chicken quest

In the northern part of the map south of the High Hedge (west of Beregost), you'll find a chicken under attack from a wolf. The talking chicken's named Melicamp and actually started out human. You can take him to the High Hedge, where lives a mage who can cast an anit-chickenator spell to change Melicamp back to normal. To cast the spell he needs a skull.
Sometimes the spell works and you get the experience, other times it fails, Melicamp dies and you get naught. Saving would be a good idea

Really?? I didn't know. In my game he died.

NiceWorg 10-18-2002 11:32 AM

I second Jan. Why do I always forget to save when you most need it.. but then, his death felt more like the right ending to that quest.

pritchke 10-18-2002 12:19 PM

Other than the quest mentioned the heads have no other purpose.

Hmmm. When I first encountered the flesh golems at the wizard's place, they attacked me. Nothing I threw at them worked, and my party was slaughtered. I reloaded, and picked a few skulls before again entering this wizard's castle at High Hedge. For some reason, the flesh golems didn't attack me. I always thought it was because I was carrying a skull, for some reason. Like, the flesh golems didn't attack, because they saw me carrying something they desired immensely : something made of bone, unlike themselves who were entirely flesh.

Crazy theory I know. I'm abit drunk.

k hold on.....skulls can be sold at officer vai's store in the southeasternmost inn, after nashkell mines, for 1 gp each. it adds up. also, flesh golems dont attack unless they are attacked first i believe. come in peacefully, have a mage in your group, and Thalantyr the mage of the chicken quest will open a cool store for you. Flesh golems are worth 2000 XP, invincible to non-magic weapons, and HARD TO KILL. They are found in 2 known places. High Hedge, 2 golems, lighthouse area south of candlekeep in cave. 4golems.

I thought there were only three golems in the siren's cave?

The golems will attack you at High Hedge the first time because they do not know who you are. If you're quick, and have one character rush over to Thalantyr immediately, opening the dialogue will prevent them from attacking (or ceasing hostilities if they have started). You only need to do this once it seems, as they know that you're there to trade afterwards.

Brainless One 10-21-2002 09:22 PM

you may be right about the 3 golems.. im getting too old.

I don't think you have to have a mage in your group to initiate dialogue with thalyntyr, or to start the chicken quest.

SecretMaster 10-21-2002 10:27 PM

Ok, there seems to be confusion with the golemns. What works for me is go in, run straight to Thalantyr, get him to talk to you, and purchase or sell 1 item to him. From then on, you can buy and sell from him without disrupting the golemns. The golemns are originally hostile. What I've also seen is when i first enter the building, with no golemns in sight, do what i just said, I go quickly find the golemns, and they appear to be hostile for a nano sec, then they become friendly.

In the lighthouse area, you can sleep, and more flesh golems appear. Nice XP!!!

Grungi 10-22-2002 06:29 AM

id already done the chicken thing, its random whether he lives or dies, better if he lives cos you get good exp.

the flesh golems in high hedge attack randomly they arent always hostile straight away and HAVE attacked me even after talking to the wizard, it might be dependent on charisma or reputation i dont know, sometimes passive sometimes attack, but if your reasonable level its worth taking them for 4000 exp.

in the sirine cave if you rest then you get flesh golems spawning again great exp, probably made about 16000 out of the caves just by resting and attacking theres only 3 fixed ones there though.
