i need some help. I'm on chapter seven and i'm heading to Saverok and that lady (forget name) comes up to fight me and everythings going smoothly and then the game freezes. I kept trying and everytime it froze. Sometimes the screen blacks out to the descktop and a screen comes up saying "D;/BGsourceUpdate_TOTSC/dev/Baldur/CPathsearch.cpp at line 724
After this i'm going to download some patches, but in case it doesn't work heres my contigency plan. And what bad timing for this kind of thing!! now i have to wait at least a day before i can finish BG forever. grumble grumble. feel free to ask me for all the info u want, i accept any advice and help. |
oh yeah heres some more info: This is the very first time it has frozen or done anything like this.
2. My disk (disk 3)is scratched but not seriously, and finally 3. I'm pretty sure i have the latest version. This also has never happened to me in BGII so i don;'t think its a com prob (think). and i'll post back later if the patch doesn't work. thanks to anyone who helps in advance! |
okay another update. just found out i didn't have the latest version and downloading patch now. i'll be back in 57 mins to see if anyones anwsered my distress call. see yas till then! (wish i had broadband...)
|
okay some bad news. The patch site says that i don't need a patch cause i got the original saga. So heres my own personal contingency plan :Rest com, restart com, try again, if it doesn't work i reinstall. But don't think i have things under control! its probaly worse! okay i'll try that now. sees ya's all in thirty minutes.

As you can see he has just restarted the computer and we are all very, very, tense at this point and time. We are unsure how things are developing but it is certain that this will be the most strenuous point.
On a side note it might be that the disk is scratched, as you stated earlier and that could be the problem. You could reinstall the game of course, as you also said before. I to have had problems with BG at times, and resintalling does help, but if it still gives you grief than it is either one of two things. The disk is scratched, or...bad bad news here...your save game might be corrupt (which I doubt, but it has happened to me in BGII) |
'Puters just ain't bright, and for no reason whatsoever, they'll mess all over your bright, shiny saved game. If so...you might have to pray that your last save isn't too far behind your "final".
Let us know how it goes. If the pathc doesn't work, you might have to reinstall. Sorry about that. |
If nothing else works and you have a save just before the bowl quest help the fishermen instead. Then work your way to that part of the game again.
I know it is a pain but it could be the scratch and you may be able to avoid it but not having to deal with the wench. |
im not that good with computer s but here what you could do. Go to the bldurs gate part of your comp go to saved game take out the file and put it on your desktop. reinstall then put the file back in. of course ur disck could be scratched.
|
Let me re right what I said because it was pretty bad. Go to black isle/baldur,s gate/saved. Then take out the goood file and put it on your desktop.Reinstall the game and put the file back in black isle/baldur's gate/saved and try the game. may work may not . good luck.

LORD BRASS YOU ARE BRILLIANT!!!!!!! I just figured out that i may be going back to the wrong saved game after i installed my patch. Since i saved it between showings of the movie that kept repeating itself over and over that saved game could be corupt....All I should have to do is go back to the auto save previous when I first walked in the door and I shoud be golden,....I can't wait to get home and try it. ALL HAIL LORD BRASS!!!!!

No problem, but you solved that one on your own mate. You've been at this a while too now don't forget. :D
I must admit that I've used the Auto-Save more than once to save the proverbial bacon for the party. We really shouldn't, as these can become unstable for no real reason too. In fact, one of my groups is b*ggered at the moment, as I was fiddling with Gatekeeper, and I failed to make sure that Dynaheir's spells were in the correct place. Subsequently, her neutralise poison tried to turn up in her level 3 mage spells list. Now, she has no special ability, and can only memorise one 3rd level spell instead of 3 (she's level 6). I wasn't even doing anything, so it shouldn't have gone so badly wrong. Oh well. I'll have to bite the bullet and get Xan or Edwin for the first time. This party is really designed for me to take people that I don't normally bother recruiting, so maybe it isn't such a bad thing. |
I'm back and i got good and bad news. the good news is the prob is over, the bad news is its not really "fixed"/well heres what i did. ignoring everyones advice like the donkey i'm, i loaded the game from the nearest point rushed up and killed the women really really quickly(about 20 secs) then rushed into the temple of Bhaal where i saved and proceeded to kick Saveroks arse. so really the prob isn;t "fixed" but i finished the game so who cares. and by posting i DID help one guy cause another guy helped him. O-kay well i won't be seeing this part of the forum(except to help) again for some time so see yas,
|
Ah it didn't work....either the patch was not the problem or both my saved game and my auto save game is corrupt.
|
Don't quote me Mr Underhill, but it may be that you have to start again if you patch mid-game. The patch may not take affect thus, leaving your data hopelessly corrupt (still). Sorry about that.
|
If start again I must then BEHOLD THE BIRTH OF THE ALL THIEF PARTY!!!!!
