Hi!
I have killed the troll that stole the Moonblade. However I have read in a couple of guides that you can get to keep the blade if you have done all the subquests in the Ford area (saved the druid and his wife as well as the villagers) but all I can get is 2000 gold for it from Emma. Is the blade only possible to salvage in HoF mode or do the guides lie? |
No it is possible to keep it in normal mode. Try a different character to tell Emma you've done her quest - I think some classes she won't give it to. Also I think you need to choose the dialogue option that's in the vein of, here's your moonblade back - she might offer it to you then. If you don't offer to give it back I think she keeps it.
Hope that helps |
I figured that out too. I just had to choose the second (!) variant of refusal with my Paladin and she gave it back to me with a nice XP bonus too..
I believe you can do it with any character, but you have to choose not to accept a reward (i.e turn down the 2000 gps) - the reason it worked for your Paladin is that Paladins automatically refuse to accept rewards.

[ Little spoiler below ]
| | | | | | | | You have to be of good or neutral alignment, successfully solved the quests of freeing the villagers and killing the Orc boss. If you decline her reward then you get the blade. It seems to be no matter of charisma or class - at least if you´re not a paladin. |
I get mine and then sell it... is this a sword worth keeping, or restarting a game over?
well I haven't played the game very much or gotten very far, but I think it's the best weapon I've found so far. unless I'm wrong it does 2D6 magic damage, and judging from other weapons I've seen... that's pretty damn good
The Moonblade is a nice weapon for this time in the game, but not worth starting over again to obtain. There are better swords ahead, so just keep going.

My paladin refused the reward and she didn't give me the sword or the cash... i got screwed
Or u could take theeasy way out and once you get the moon blade use it and then go kill Emma, but that only if ur evil i think. But i did have a good member of my party because the sword can only be used by a good aligned creature.
Paladins always refuse a reward. Its in their nature to do so. So when i found that out, i put my barbarian or the thief up in front to handle the conversations. When it came to the moonblade area, i played that part twice cause i made the same mistake as you did and then i took my thief to get the 2k gold. Yup the blade isnt worth having later on, there are other blades which are better. I would say part with it for 2k and get something off a merchant later on.
the best, xp and item wise, i've heard is to just keep it and go on, you'll hear from emma again...
strange, my characters ( all 6 of them )tried to refuse the reward but no moonblade given to me.
