I'm playing with 6 character. so I want to have a rogue as a scout ( he got high hide and move silently skill ) and as a sniper ( using a bow )as well. Is this good or am I wasting a good talent? does the sneak attack also work with bows?
|
I don't think it work with bow.
|
no? gee..that's sucks. back to the drawing board then.

Nope it doesn't work (it did in Neverwinter Nights and made the Rogue the perfect sniper).
You can get Envenom Weapon to work with any weapon, bows included, which is pretty cool. Still it's only a once a day thing. The best sniper in this game is probably the Fighter since he can load up on feats that would help out archery the most. |
A rogue with a good bow and rapid shot can be quite effective. Whenever you're not backstabbing, you can mow down the opposition that way.
By the strict rules, a rogue can sneak attack with a bow if the target iswithin 30 feet. I don't know if that's been implemented here or not.
Nightowl2
|
Gimli : a fighter ( or character ) who do not hide and move silently but still uses a bow to shoot a monster is not a sniper. he is a sharpshooter. there is a difference here. ;)

Heh - well after the fighter gets turned invisible by a Wizard, he'd become a sniper

Hmm... I use my thief to eliminate a troublesome enemy after the fight has begun with my tanks. The theif then sneak attacks a spell caster or similar character. I like arterial strike for this, so that I can (theoretically) make them fail a spell. heh heh, they need to have low cons for that though. ;) The damage though, puts that caster mostly out of comition. The dualwielding assassin then finishes the wizard off and tries to avoid the enemy tanks.

I now notice a problem. whenever my rogue sneak up to a monster. she then fire an arrow. after that she just completely stand there looking at the monster charging up to her. why won't she continue fire another arrow?
|
What level Rogue? And does she have the Rapid Shot feat? If she's low level and doesn't have it, it will take longer in between shots. Also if you're going to have her use the bow exclusively, you should take the Point Blank feat too.
|
level 3 already. just entered chapter 1. I want my rogue to exclusively use bow only because I'm tired of using rogue with dagger/short sword.
Rapid shot? I know it's useable when pressing the special abilities option. can you use it more than once without having to rest? [ 11-07-2002, 04:42 AM: Message edited by: Kakero ] |
Yeah, you can use it as many times a day as you want
|
Why shortbow?? Use longbow!
Rogues are BAD snipers but RANGER/ROGUES ARE GREAAATTT snipers!!! I have a ranger/rogue she's great!! Dual wielding short swords, deadly with her bow! 10 levels of rogue is enough believe me! (to get special rogue feats) put rest in ranger or ranger/fighter to get more feats!! I love my ranger/fighter/rogue (no xp penalty) |
"Rapid shot? I know it's useable when pressing the special abilities option. can you use it more than once without having to rest?"
Yeah, no resting required - you turn the feat on and basically just leave it on and you'll be getting an extra shot per round (does make the shots -2 to hit though, but it's worth it). |
At level 3, rogues have one attack per round. Two with a bow and rapid shot. Longbows are generally better than shortbows. As mentioned above, rapid shot stays on until you turn it off. Same for things like power attack and expertise.
