I'm in the middle of Lothander's quest to get rid of his geas. So far I've been to the priestess of umberlee and she wants a book of wisdom, which is located in the Lady's House (the one for the godess Tymora) Problem is I don't know where to find it. Also I need to know where the Blade and Stars is. I don't want step by step directions just general locations. (e.g. NW or SW section of BG city)
|
To get the book you need to talk to one of the two cleric in the building.
The blade and stars inn is in the area between the city gate and the harbour. |
Ar'cunin,
I didn't need to know how to get the book, but rather the general location of the building. I may end up locating it before I receive the answer I seek; however, thanks for the other information, which was exactly what I sought. |
The Lady's House (Temple of Tymora) is in the Western section of BG City. It should be marked on your map, although admittedly some of the labels on my copy of the map are kinda difficult to read.

i allways end up getting poisoned (i don't know if i'm actually poisoned at the time it happens for the 2nd time tho.. )twice.... stupid bug..
|
I took care of lothander's quest, and I'm still wondering if I ever actually got poisoned, because the only thing I had to go on was Lothander's word. but anyways I drank the potion and to date there are no effects seen of the alleged poison. Now I'm stuck on the Lycanthrope's chief (Karoug?) There's definitely something fishy about that village and I don't mean the houses to the south. Please no hints one what is to come; I'll find out that much on my own. So far my only clue is a secret passage in one of the houses that I cannot seem to open. Perhaps the ship holds the key.

hehe you die within 10 days if you do not drink the poison... the whole party dies...

Drinking the Antidote (yes, even Marek's special Antidote) does NOT cure you. The only thing that will turn off the "party is poisoned" variable is by completing the quest correctly: If you killed somebody, earned 20,000 Experience Points, and saw the message "You have been cured of (someone's) poison," you did it right, and are safe. If you did NOT see that message, you're in trouble, and you'd better beat the rest of the game within 10 game days. |
well then its a good thing I still have that back-up save from when Lothander spoke to me. Cuz I don't remember getting any message of either being poisoned or being cured of poison. Do I have to drink the potions in any particular order?
|
I assume you have cured Lothandar of his geas. Have you looked for and confronted his companion? If you have, then that's it. If not, then the quest is NOT over yet, and the clock is ticking...
|
Lothander was cured of his geas. But all he gave me is what seemed to be an ordinary antidote potion. He told me where to find Marek I went to the blushing Mermaid, killed Marek, and had every member of my party down some of Marek's antidote. There was no 20k exp or message that I have been cured of someone's poison; however, it has been well over 10 days since the incident (considering the time it takes to get to Balduran's Isle, the time spent there, and the time it took to get back to Ulgoth's beard.) I'm not currently seeing myself in any danger; none the less, I do believe in precautions so I still have the Back-up save of when I first spoke to Lothander. So if I suddenly keel over with rest of my party then I just relode and do a few quests again.
|
Good--keep that backup Save. Not that you were going to delete it, of course.
You may have gotten the EXP and the message, but not seen it--it's only a text message, so you might have scrolled right past it without even noticing. Drinking the Antidote has no effect whatsoever on this poison--but it's perfectly good on all other poisons. Incidentally, the time it takes to travel to Balduran's Island is precisely zero. You can even do it again, if you want: Go back to the mainland--you can travel back to the island by normal Traveling means. (Can you say bug?) Too bad you can't get off it again, though. |
The temple is located in the upper left hand corner sector
|
As an aside, does Marek's antidote ever get depleted? If not, it might be useful to have that rather than carry all those 'normal' antidotes around...
Just a thought. |
Marek's potion has a total of 10 uses. Sorry not infinite. I would love to be able to CLUA in a wand of one type or another with infinite uses, but the closest I can get is giving one a couple hundred charges. Oh well.
P.S. I started using CLUA cheats when I was in middle school (for you out of towners that is 6-8th grade in the American standard grade system), so I unfortunately developed a fairly strong reliance on it, which I have finally shown signs of breaking. |
i quit playing Baldurs Gate for an entire year because
of this stupid Poison Quest spoiler .... .... ..... ..... . . . . . . . . . . . . . my party killed Marek during the first encounter when they threaten you. they drank his potion of antidote as needed over the next few days until it was gone. Lothander shows up later and sez "aha! yer poisoned!" i completed all the quests show up and he sez "great now go see Marek in the blushing mermaid" well needless to say he wasnt there... and i didn't have a saved game left from before drinking Mareks potion up. so i was screwed! my party each time died a few minutes after starting the game up so i took my BG disks and threw them about the house angrily vowing to never play the @*!%%@$! game again until one year later.....and here i am :] |
Why do I get the feeling that I'm going to be saying this until I'm blue in the face?
DRINKING MAREK'S POTION OF ANTIDOTE HAS *NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER* ON THE POISON QUEST. IT WILL *NOT* CURE ANY MEMBER OF YOUR PARTY, NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THEY DRINK IT. The "party is poisoned" is a variable in the game, and completing the quest correctly (which requires keeping Marek alive long enough to fight him in the Blushing Mermaid) is the only thing that can turn the variable off. |
