Why can't Drizzt be in the icewind dale game? Not only does he live there, but they show him in BGII, along with his party. I don't have any knowledge of Drizzt even being in Amn. At least have a little glimpse of Regis when you're in Lonleywood.

Thaziax 05-16-2002 10:00 AM

Icewind Dale is actually set 10 years before he came to the surface.

Morgeruat 05-16-2002 12:57 PM

He went through Amn on his way to Calimshan, the journey wasn't discussed overmuch because very little happened, and it was just the writers taking a little artistic liscense, else why would he be on the sword coast in bg1 (at the time the game came out I believe he was sailing on the sea sprite... i think, he may have been back in IWD

The Icewind Dale games take place before Wulfgar(Drizzt's buddy) is even born and also before the time of troubles

<font color=yellow> A few side notes:
I am hoping that IWD 2 will bring us to Bryn Shander! It would be rad to see how a big fortress such as that would look in the game! Also, Caer Dineval, and more of Lac Dinneshere would be cool to see.

Doesn't IWD 2 take place like 50 years after IWD? There may be hope that we can meet our little Drow friend and Wulfgar too! Lata!

Even if Drizzt and the rest of them were alive on the surface. They would really not be themselves because they would not have their original weapons or any of their experience or even Guenhyvear (the panther)

Thaziax 05-24-2002 06:41 AM

drizzt and bruenor would definatly be alive cause drizzt will live till he is about 600-900 and he is only 80-100 (not quite sure) and bruenor will probably live till he is 500, but i'm not sure how old he is at the moment (guessing 300-400).

But still how good could Wulfgar be without Aegis Fang and not knowing anything like he does now. He would suck.

Thaziax 06-13-2002 10:10 AM

he sure would...

Drizzt was still in Menzoberranzan, preparing to leave the city and live alone in the Underdark with Guenhwyvar at the time of IWD (1281, the Year of the Cold Soul).

Think of IWB as being set in the last few chapters of Bob Salvatore's book Homeland (IWD is set 90-odd years before the present time, which is the Year of Wild Magic - 1373).

To put things in perspective, this is what was happening in Faerun around the time of IWD:

</font>
 • The Simbul is not yet Queen of Aglarond </font>
 • The Shadow Thieves of Waterdeep are destroyed and banished to Amn </font>
 • Azoun IV of Cormyr, who recently died defending his kingdom from the red dragon Nalavarauthatoril, hadn't been born yet </font>
 • Amn is not yet unified as a country </font>
 • The War Wizards of Cormyr are not yet founded </font>
As you can see, still a lot of history to be made.

much can happen in such a short time....

Obsidian the Black 06-21-2002 09:41 PM

Drizzt would have gwyenavar as answer to malystrom and what is the storyline to IWD2

Obsidian the Black 06-24-2002 01:15 PM

Also in IWD2 you could roleplay Drizzt because you can be a drow by race and make your whole team with drizzts team in it!

Drizzt aquired Guenhyvar before he came to the suface from masoj hunett.

And as for equipment they have most of their famous equipment about 10 yrs after he reaches the surface (thats my guess any way, as Cattie Brie was about 10 when Drizzt reached the Icewind Dale and by the end of the Icewind Dale trilogy when she and wulfgar are getting married they are between 18 - 20 and Drizzt has both Scimitars by then (not his armour or bracers of speed though))

You could in theory, play as Drizzts party in IWD2, now that you can play as drow elfs n stuff.

BlakJak Birkin 07-17-2002 03:14 PM

I know how you feel Gnomes_rule! Drizzt is the coolest guy going, i'm going 2 get Icewind Dale 2 just to make him!!!

Malavon's Rage 07-17-2002 04:32 PM

It'd be cool if they made a forgotten realms game where you could actually go to the severed hand and dorns deep and choose to fight for one side or the other side or there could be a quest to kill Nym the drow to eliminate the probability of a war...what do you guys think of that idea?...

Pyrite, fools gold 07-17-2002 04:35 PM

R.A. Salvatore ranks high on my list of best authors ever, hes up there with terry goodkind and stephen king! (ps, what book comes after icewind dale trilogy?) anyway, im surprised that the time o troubles never had an affect on drizzt and freinds. and i heard that iwdII is staged in lonelywood, home of regis! just hope that he doesnt use his ruby to get you to give away your hard earned treasure, (though i doubt his freinds would let him.

The Icewind Dale Trilogy is followed by
The Legacy
Starless Night (here's where the Time of Troubles fits in)

... and several more, check out http://www.rasalvatore.com/books.html
