I'm beginning to get annoyed!
When I say the Ankhegs, I thought, "Yay! Those beasts I can never find in BGII but can be made into some really cool plate mail.". I found the guy to make the Plate Mail, but never found the Ankhegs! Now, I find 4+ Ankhegs every time I go through the area above the Friendly Arm Inn, and I can't find the guy to make the plate mail!!!! Put simply, where is the person that makes the Ankheg Shells into Plate Mail, because I can't find him and the Ankheg shells are weighing down my characters! Thanks, and thanks for listening (Or watching) me drone on! |
Taerom Furium Makes The Ankheg Armour, He's In The Smithy At Beregost. He'll Offer To Buy Them Off You, But Say That You Don't Wat To Sell Them, But If You Did, It Would Be To Him. Then He Will Offer To Turn It Into Ankheg Armour For 5000 Gp.

Thanks Beaumanoir! |
I Think You Can, Although I've Never Tried... A Pleasure. Well, There Is One Ankheg Plate Mail Pre-Made For You In Nashkel On The Feilds, But You'd Have To Get The x,y Co-ordinates to find it

You can sell them later on in the city of Baldur's gate. Put them in some sort of container and come back for them later if you are inclined to do so.

spolier
the smity in berg will also buy that at 500 a pop but whatchout he gives you 500 or everyone you have at once ie if you have one you get 500 if you have 5 you stil lonly get 500. What i do is putthem in a container near him then take themout one ata time and sell them to him then go get anothe rout of the contianer. |

I don't know if its meant to do this, but after I got the armour made, he has stopped buying the shells and doesn't mention them again? So sell up before you get the good protection would seem to be the plan.

i personally think that ankeg plate is not that great. it prevents you from wearing any ring, amulet, or ac lowering magic item.
personally i would stick with just regular full plate, that way you can wear the ring of protection +1 or eventually +2 !! but of course if you have more than two tanks in your party, then it might be tough finding a third full plate. and in that case i would probably go ahead and get it. or if your fighter(s) have medeocre strength which means low weight allowance, then it might be smart to get it too. |
Is there a bug here with Taerom? Lots of times when I played BG, I used to visit his smithy, and he and the other guys weren't there. Sometimes I'd leave the smithy then go back in again, and he reappeared, but this didn't happen all the time. Sometimes he was gone for a while.

Grimslade - No bug. He is only there during the day.
|
it is just bit or realism. They guy actually works 12 hr days. Even an npc needs some time off.
Yes once you have him make you the armor he no longre buys the shells then your only choice is the guy in bg spoiler The fact he is not there at night help you if you look around hi shop. [ 05-14-2002, 01:25 PM: Message edited by: Lanthir ] |
