Well, I've tried most possible shops within thirty miles of my house and still it eludes me. That isn't exactly my idea of customer satisfaction but at least I can laugh at my predicament and get back to my life.

well thats alright. it might give interplay some time to release a patch to fix the things they broke in HoW. a few items don't work correctly and the new thieving ability, "crippling blow" is broken too.
I trid posting a message about "where is the patch" on http://redqueendesign.com/ but they seemed to delete my message AND username along with several of the other posts from other users expressing similar dismay at the bug level. strange geeks at interplay

HoW is due out in the Uk on the 23rd of March

I can confirm 23rd March as release date for England.

I was originally told 15 March by EB on Oxford Street. I took them at their word, and spread this evil lie around on this board, as an unwitting party to the deception.

When I went to a different store today to pick up a copy, I got strange looks. Especially when I threw myself to the floor sobbing! http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...miles/wink.gif

But from what I've heard, it could be a bit of an anticlimax.

Hi Epona, EB on Oxford St. is not a good shop, the staff are some of the worst I've met. If there is a Game store near you they often have a releases board up, which tends to be right. (I know Game and EB are the same company, but they operate very differently).

PS I used to work 5 mins from EB in Oxford St. do you work in that area?

Forgot to say that 15th was never a viable release date as it isn't a Friday. All new releases come out on a Friday ready for the W/E

Not sure I agree mate - I thoroughly enjoyed it as I haven't gamed in a while and even though its rather short, it's an enjoyable old romp. Let me know how it turns out for ya http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif

Yeah, I didn't register that it was a Thursday when they told me, or alarm bells would have rung!

Because I live on the edge of the 'square mile', Oxford street area is my best bet for Saturday shopping, but I tend to avoid it because it's so crowded. I only went in to EB because I happened to be passing on my way somewhere else. My 'local' store is Game on Victoria Street as it's within easy reach of where I work (yes, I'm a 'Westminster Civil Servant', yawn) and they are much better and very helpful. They don't always seem to get things in the store on the release date though for some reason.

Oh, and incidentally, I was born and raised in Crouch End, just off of Priory Park (North East London I believe). We moved out when I was six on account of school bullies trying to kill me with a piece of rope and a tree (the rope was too short to tie around both separately but that didn't stop them, they tied it very tight and walked away laughing).

What sick b*stards!!
I went through a lot of bullying at school (in Surrey), so I sympathise - I know how badly it can affect you. I don't get to Crouch End that often, as most of my journeys seem to take me in to the centre of town rather than further North.
Do you like Bournemouth? I only tend to get there for my Trade Union Conference when it's held there. I'm not so keen on the town (I prefer the country), but I like the countryside around that area. (Sorry everyone else, I know this is off-topic).

I had the bullying too when I was in Yorkshire and when we moved to Lincolnshire it occured there too, so I too sympathise, Balgin.

Only 4 days to go (including today) Hopefully will finish IWD by Friday.

Looks like I was wrong, HoW isn't out today 24th, perhaps it hasn't made it here yet. Anyone know if it was out in London on the 23rd, Epona?

Sir Tainly, yep, out in London on 23rd as promised.

I suggest you harass your games store - get them to order one for you. It's not easy to spot when it's on the shelves, cos it's in a DVD style case rather than a box.

I have restarted with a new party, so won't actually get to HOW for ages (I'm just starting Dragon's Eye) but it's really good to have scroll cases, potion bags and gem bags from the start. Makes life a lot easier.

Probably take a while for stuff to reach us here in the sticks, I'll probably go into town later this week and give Game grief

Well I actually live part way between Bournmouth and Salisbury (I just say Bournmouth because it's nearer and incase someone on this board hires a hit man). I bought HOW on Friday and spent quite a lot of the intervening time trying to log on to this forum (and playing the game, playing a large game of Warhammer on Saturday for about four hours (it was a nice close one)). So as far as I can see there is a major downside and that is that they converted all of the characters and major NPC's into BG2 models. Unfortunately the BG2 models have the same fatal flaw that the Torment ones had, basically they always keep the shield arm facing you and bandoliers, belt buckles, shields etc flip with annoying frequency whenever the characters change direction or face in particular ways. This is probably the main reason why I stopped playing BG2 because it started to get annoying. I am also suffering from another minor bug. I can only hear the battle/fight music in the Vale of Sahdow outdoors. Everywhere else it just doesn't play (I might have this problem with BG2 as well but not with BG1 http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif ). I've heard some snatches of it in the Valley whilst hacking appart yeti's and lesser shades and thought that it was quite nice.If anyone knows of a patch or tweek to solve this minor annoyance then please let me know. Concerning the extra areas I took a look and then returned to playing the standard game with it's many enhancements (the key and scroll vendor in town seems to be refusing to buy keys or scrolls at the moment but it doesn't matter too much) and exploring the new spells. Incidentally me previous experience (your sympathies are greatly appreciated) has had little effect on my life other than to make me develope an odd habit of playing Paladins and other good characters.

You're no relation to "The Rad X" from the old board are you?

Never heard of any "The Rad X". The music bug was there before I got HOW. The character graphics bug doesn't affect gameplay, it's just annoying so I wouldn't wait Sir Tainly.

Balgin, that may well be a bug, but it's worth checking your sound options in the config screen if you haven't already. I don't know if turning on the 'dungeon echo effects' (or whatever technical acronym they gave it) interferes with the battle music when you are indoors, but it's a possibility.

Alternatively, have you downloaded the latest drivers for your soundcard?
You may well have tried these already, but just a thought!

Well Cambridge isn't really on the route anywhere, there's little of major national importance in East Anglia. I used to live near Peterbororugh, and there magazines would come out a week after they would in London. I know for sure having worked in many areas of magazine distribution. This is really unacceptable given the number of maagzine publishers in Peterborough, and the town I used to live in - Stamford. Emap is in P'boro.
