I have come across this bollox and I can't seem to even touch him. My party is a Lvl 40 Monk and Sarevok at Lvl 30. I cannot use magic to lower his resistance and so I cannot hit him. Am I wasting my time trying? I was thinking of getting Edwin or Aerie to lower his resistance would this work? Thanks

You don't need to lower his resistance since you will be physically attacking him. You need to remove his protections. Rod of Reversal is your only hope I think. Or you can GWW him until his protections are destroyed.
He uses Aura of flaming death so protect from fire (and from everything else you can ;) ). |

Use Ruby Ray of Reversal-from the Rod-and hack away with GWW and WW. And have a lot of healing potions. [ 09-22-2003, 03:12 PM: Message edited by: Xen ] |
Check his party, Xen.

I must edit my previous post! |
Well, I got Edwin cos I reckon I needed a Mage. I will give it another go. At least he can use the rods of Breach and Pierce Magic. I thought there was a bug that Monks could use wands? I did before. anyway...thanks

Get Edwin to use improved haste on your two main fighters then protection spells/protection from magic weapons (very important!!!) on himself.
Get him to literally stand in front of demogorgan and absorb his attacks whilst blasting down his spell protections with ruby ray. The monk and Sarevok can simply beat the living snot out of Demogorgon whilst he wastes his attacks up on Edwin. Easy stuff :D |
Spoiler
. . .. . . . . . . . . . .. . .. . get jan, give him 100 in traps, get special 20d6 traps, put 7 around him and he is a walking corpse. that is how i always fight him. he does not have a chance. But hey! this is the way i kill irenicus and amellisan. What a chaaaaange. |
Ah well. thanks for that. I did kill him eventually. What I did was move Sarevok and Edwin into position to as far as they could go to the left of Demog and then brought main char down. I then used Ed to cast Breach, Ray etc on your man while I ran around the place dodging the Mariliths and Demo. As soon as Demogorgons protections were gone I had Sarevok kill him with his Crossbow. Easy. Well not quite. It took a while.

Congratulations! Laying traps=Cheesy!
Cowards! Fight like a man! Mano-a-mano! :D :D :D ADD]Did you play on Insane? [ 09-23-2003, 03:14 PM: Message edited by: Xen ] |
Insane no. No way. I stuck to Normal. Insane, I am getting dizzy just thinking about it. I found it hard enough on Normal. I couldn't kill him for ages even with Edwin. I am not used to playing Mages, I should really for a laugh. I usually play with Fighter types, I love getting all the new weapons etc. This Monk business is all new to me.

I suggest that you play Mage once. He is the most powerful character in the game!-well Sorcerer is even more powerful but for starters you will really enjoy it. |
I did start as a mage in ToB but I started again and continued with my monk. I can't remember why. I think the first battle in Saradush changed my mind. I will though soon. I bought Icewind Dale 2 and I have yet to play that so I might start as Mage there. Or sorceror. The sorceror appeals to me the way their spells work. I found a handy way to kill Demogorgon in my troubles. I might post it for others who are having troubles with him.
