Flail of Ages, of course :D

Xen 07-27-2003 05:50 AM

Foebane and FoA

Dace De'Briago 07-27-2003 06:54 AM

Purifier +5 can be very useful for the Wizard Slayer/Thief dual-class. Foebane +5 as the primary weapon...

Nice.

Sir Exxon 07-27-2003 07:33 AM

<font color="gold">Flail of Ages or the Ravager. Can't pick just one of them. </font>

thandril 07-27-2003 08:10 AM

True_Moose 07-27-2003 01:06 PM

Quite a selection there ;) .

My fav is Foebane +5 and Angurvadel +5

Pirengle 07-27-2003 09:21 PM

Clay Golem manual. Helps to have a summonable that's immune to piercing and slashing damage.

Bloodtitan 07-28-2003 04:46 AM

all those items with instant kill abilities.

Xen 07-28-2003 04:49 AM

Wait. If i think better this item is nt upgraded.

KILLSW01 :D

True, but you can only get that through the CLUA

Xen 07-28-2003 03:54 PM

Yes i know. I was being a little sarcastic

SixOfSpades 07-28-2003 08:06 PM

Foebane, followed closely by Axe of the Unyielding. (Good in the on-hand, good in the off-hand! Why can't I grow a 3rd hand?)

I've never understood what was so spiffy about the Dagger of the Star.

True_Moose 07-28-2003 08:25 PM

Think about its advantages for non-swashbuckler thieves... ;)

Pyrenk 07-29-2003 07:36 AM

Exactly. You can't stealth in battle, but you can go invisible...and you don't have time (or UAI, or mage dual/multi) to cast invisible. The DotS has a 15% chance to make you go invis, and to do 1d8 fire and electrical damage, to boot =)

Gangrell 07-29-2003 05:20 PM

My favorite Upgrade Items are Axe of the Unyielding +5 along with Water's Talon, it was killer for my 32nd level Kensai

Dirznolu Ousghym 07-29-2003 06:28 PM

Foebane, FoA +5, Clay Golem manual and Staff of the Ram +6
Aslyferund Elven Chain +5 seems kinda useless in ToB cos there arent a great deal of enemies that use normal weapons at this point in the game

You can always import the game back into SoA though

Jim 07-31-2003 04:24 AM

My 2 fav's are the Staff of the Ram+6 (absolutely hands down the best weapon to backstab with :D ), and the Ravager+6, which is the most ridiculously over-powered weapon in the game!!

Xen 07-31-2003 04:44 AM

Yes it really is Jim,but FoA is over-powered too. Cumulative Slow is just sick.

Jim 07-31-2003 07:07 AM

Aye, the Flail of Ages +5 is superb. The reason it's not my fav though is because it's obtained so near the end of the game, there's hardly any time to enjoy it. Cumulative no resist, no save is indeed sick though, and over-powered.

I have fond memories of the Ravager. Giving it to Sarevok with some special gauntlets ( ;) ) and improved haste, and then letting him single handedly go wild with Yaga-Sura's entire army is entertainment maximus. *vorpal hit*, *critical hit*, *deathbringer assault*, *stun*, *poison*. Every hit almost guarantees something's going to happen with this pair working together.

Dundee Slaytern 07-31-2003 08:28 AM

Stun? Is this from some custom gauntlet?

Xen 07-31-2003 08:35 AM

I know that Ravager can inflict Poison but Stun?

*Me wonders too*

No, by gauntlets I was refering to the GOES to maximise attacks. The stun is one of Sarevoks Deathbringer Assaults. Not looked fully into how this works, but it's something like 3% chance of a deathbringer assault, which is 50% chance to do 200 piercing damage and 50% chance to stun the victim for 2-3 rounds with no save. If this is not how it works, then it should be 3% chance to do 200 piercing and 3% chance to stun with no save. Which ever it is, I've definately seen him stunning victims (although for a short period) upon a successful strike, and in his kit description/biography, it states:

"He studied the art of intimidation, the cruelest and most brutal styles of combat, in order to become a Deathbringer that could paralyze an opponent in melee through fear alone...as well as sometimes killing the most powerful of opponents in a single, massive blow"

Well slap me silly and spin me around, one still learns something new everyday. Is this confirmed and verified through the game coding? Man... you have to admit though... the ability is virtually neligible.

1) DA is rare enough as it is already, much less a 1.5% chance of stun.

2) Target has to survive the DA before the chance to stun.

I personally have not seen it in action before, but then... I have only used Sarevock once.

Sonic 07-31-2003 09:11 AM

I think (And like)The holy avenger Carsomyr +6.Its absolutely the best pala weapon you can get and +50%ms is Quit powerful agenst wizards

Dundee Slaytern 07-31-2003 09:23 AM

Not quite +50% MR... To be more specific, Carsomyr adds 50% to your BASE MR. Additional MR from items will be ignored.

*Slaps*, *spins* :D

I've not confirmed it through code, but I've seen it in action. Many people miss it because there is no console text or graphical indication (a la 200 damage assault) to state what's happened. You just see an enemy freeze in place, and of course, then die very quickly indeed.

1)True, although I'm not sure if it is 1.5% chance for each, or 3% chance for each yet.

2)Not necessarily, the stun assault is completely independant to the DA, so the target doesn't have to survive the DA first. They could I suppose both kick in at once via the 3% and 3% theory, but this chance is minimal.

The stun still has its uses. I've used Sarevok about 4 times, and only in the most recent game did I notice the stun (and once I knew what I was looking for, it happened relatively frequently).

[EDIT]Welcome Sonic!![/EDIT]
