My fighter needs a new weapon to hit more creatures. It says that my weapon has not affect a lot of the time. In my 4 quick weapon slots, I have:
1- Sword of Balduran (I use the sword normally) 2- Mace of Disruption +1 (I use when I'm fighting undead) 3- Equilizer (For creatures like umber hulks and mages that cast mind spells) 4- Blackrazor (I don't really use it) I have 5 proficiencies in Long Sword, and I need a 1-handed long sword that can hit just about all creatures (like a +5 sword, not a +2 or +3). I was going to use the sword Angurvadal +5, it seems like a great weapon. The only problem is that it sets the users strength to 22, and my character has been through BG1 so many times that I have brought his strength up to 24. Other than the loss of strength, it seems like a very good weapon. I'm also looking for a weapon with a low speed factor, and by low, I mean from 0-3, although I don't really mind speed factors a little higher than that. If the sword is restricted to an certain allignment that you will (hopefully ) suggest, I'm a Neutral Good Fighter. Thanks in advance! |
Well there are quite good swors out there:
Foebane+5-very good bastard sword The Answerer+4-slow but powerful Long Sword Angurvadal+5-a trick. Equip Crom Fayer and re-equip Angurvadal |
Should I place Crom Faeyer in the shield slot or put both weapons in the quick weapon slot and then equip Angurvadal+5?
|
Pu it in the shield slot so you gain 25 STR and then just re-equip Angurdaval. Simple as that.
|
It's not working. I put Angurvadal+5 in my 4th quick weapon slot, but Crom Faeyer in my shield slot, and checked my stats. I had 25 strength, but I'm equiping both weapons, and I'm not proficient in 2 weapons at once. So them I took Crom Faeyer back out and put my shield in the shield slot, and my strength is back to 22. Can you say specifically what to do?

Yes like you could wield Flail Of The Ages along with a sword. FoA is good becuase it has slow effect. But as i said:

So it is up to you: you can deal more dmg per hit or you can dual-wield different weapons and have better offensive+deffenisve effect. |
I wonder, can Shadowkeeper edit items? I just download it to see if I can make it so that Angurvadal +5 sets your stregth to 24 instead of 22. Is there a way to do this?
Edit: If so, how? Another Edit: I just found the item on Item Browser, but not sure what to do. [ 06-24-2003, 05:01 PM: Message edited by: Lord ] |
You need IEEP...a program wich you can download form TeamBG site.
|
|
Why not use Angurdaval +4?
Or switch to the plain Answerer +4 |
Answerer is too slow, and I would like my fighter to use the +5 since it deals more damage. You gotta remember, every point of damage counts ;)

Of course, everything goes wrong for me, lol. I installed it and get an error during initialization that COMDLG32.0CX cannot be loaded or is out of date. I did a search for COMDLG32.0CX and found 3 files by that name. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Am I missing something?

You mean IEEP? Well there was a patch there IIRC. </font> |
I am completely lost on this. I selected ToB and got the choices:
Spell Maker Item Maker Store Make NPC TBG Maker Infinity Addon Patcher Dialog Fixer Dialog.tlk Editor. Where do I go to edit the Angurvadal +5? I don't see a file for a readme, so I'm not sure what to do, although my guess would be the item maker. [ 06-25-2003, 07:27 PM: Message edited by: Lord ] |
I don't know if this is safe, but at http://www.idi.ntnu.no/~joh/ni/download.html
there is a program called Near Infinity that seems to do the same things as IEEP, and it might even be IEEP for all I know, but it's got a different name. Is this a 'safe' program to use? |
<span style="color: lightblue">Near Infinity is, in my opinion, better than IEEP. The interface is actually useable... it takes a little while to figure out how to edit Items with NI, but it isn't too hard once you get the hand of it.
IEEP is wierd. Everything about it is wierd - I would recomend not getting it, when NI is easier to use to do the same things. And the extra package you need to use it works with alot of other things, aswell. So, yes NI is safe. Very much so. [ 06-26-2003, 02:30 AM: Message edited by: LennonCook ] |
Here's the thing, I downloaded Near Infinity and Java since it says that it's required to run NI, and then I burned it onto a CD and then opened it on my computer that has BG2 installed on it. However, I still cannot open the NearInfinity.jar file, so is there just another way to edit the weapon using IEEP? I seem to hit more using my Sword of Balduran than using Angurvadal+5 since my 'to hit' adjustment is 2 or 3 higher than if I use Angurvadal+5. But then again, the Sword of Balduran affects less creatures than Angurvadal+5. Can someone give me instructions on how to edit Angurvadal+5 using IEEP?

<span style="color: lightblue">Run the Java2 Runtime Environment first to install it. Then run NearInfinity.JAR, it should work... you may have to point it to the key file if you have more than one Infinity Engine game installed.
You will only have to install the J2 Runtime once, it will work after that so long as you don't uninstall it. |
