ASCENSION FINAL BATTLE-MAJOR SPOILERS(I SUPPOSE)
Ok. The party consists of: PC-Cavalier-level 45 Sarevok the arrogant bastard-level 35 Tashia the Sorceress-level 35 The never-dead-Johnny Boy and his Fallen Solars were easy, pools were a little harder but this? I failed to change Sarevok`s aligment during the game and now the arrogant bastard joins Melissan and The Five. I see 2 options here: 1)use SK and change his aligment(that would be cheating and every role-player must except the conesquences 2)dual class the boy of wonder to mage and he just stands there like a drooling idiot(i wonder where that came from Any tips? |
How about,
3) Fight him when he's on the Bad Guys' side, like this battle was meant to be. ? [ 06-05-2003, 04:52 PM: Message edited by: Alson ] |

Hey, how about me ? ;)
Sarevok is the easiest of The Five (hmm, Six ?) and you can ignore him for a while or just kick his butt in two rounds. But I suspect you will be quite busy. :D |
Good luck, Xen, though I'm sure you'll do fine without it, too.
As a powerful opening gambit, charm Sarevok with one of the Mind Flayer Control Circelts (you did save those, right?). He's one tough cannon fodder, and it's one less opponent you have to deal with. |

Because IIRC, they're immune to it.
Here's what you can do. Cast Protection from Magic on Sendai and Abazigal, and cruise to an easy victory. Make sure that Protection from Magical Weapons is always on Tashia, or she'll be killed by arrows from Ilasera, or by Melissan. The Cavalier also can use some Hardiness. Since Ilasera's arrows hurt to much, you wouldn't hurt yourself by equipping either a Belt of Inertial Barrier and/or using the Purifier and the Shield of Reflection. Anyways, Good Luck! |
Funny thing is, actually, as I finished Baldur's Gate II last night again I noticed that it's not six but seven people sitting around the table in the end movie. Now who are they?
EDIT: Posted here because I recall that people thought them to be the Five. [ 06-06-2003, 02:41 AM: Message edited by: Link ] |

Hmm I really like this forum |

* * * * * Illasera:Human. quite possible, except none of them seemed to be female to me. Yaga-Shura: Fire Giant. those dudes didnt look quite that...well...big to me. Sendai: Drow priestess. none of them seemed to be women to me, and certainly none had black skin Abazigal: Dragon. Again, not quite that big, and even in human form he had blue skin(according to the portrait) Balthazar: Human. ok, this is the only real possibility out of the five |
Yes but no one has Tatooed arms. Balthazar is tatooed all over his body.Makes me wonder why
|
Take note that out of the 7 hooded figues sitting around that table, we only got a good look at FOUR of them. So being Female or having blue or black skin cannot automatically disqualify you. As it is, the only one of the Five who could not have been there is Yaga-Shura.
Not that I believe that theory is true, however, my view of the Seven is somewhat different. |
Hmm. How much diffrent Six? :D
|
My Interpretation: I had them pegged as 7 very high-ranking worshippers of Bhaal, who are now working to secure his resurrection. They have discovered Melissan's plans, and are now working in opposition to her and the Five. Of course, since you're a Bhaalspawn too, then you'll have to die as well, although the Seven would be perfectly happy to let you keep destroying the Five for them. (Of course, that's a delicate game: The longer they wait, the more of Bhaal's essence accumulates at his Throne, and the more trouble they will have dispatching Melissan.)
You are first tipped off to their presence after killing Yaga-Shura. After Melissan pops up and gives her spiel about Sendai, Abazigal, and Amkethran, then a Priest of Cyric shows up and marks your map with the location of the Calim Desert, the hideout of the Seven. You can go there anytime you want....but sooner is probably better, as they have some juicy items that you're going to want. If you *never* go there, they'll show up during the final battle, shooting anything that moves. The battle I had planned with them is decent: You get teleported into a room, you've got about 5 seconds to buff before the 7 Dimension Door in, spells start flying. Nice battle, pretty battle, one of them casts Wish (once) and refreshes their spells, but it's nowhere near the munchkin level of the "Weimer-cheese" thread Alson & I were battling over. [ADD:] The reason a Priest of Cyric tips you off about the Seven is because Cyric is worried (and rightly so) about his old enemy returning to get his own back. Cyric can't interfere directly, so the oblique approach is to send Gorion's Ward off to kill the Seven, with the goal of killing off everybody who knows the rites to resurrect Bhaal. Or perhaps he hopes that you will strike up an alliance with the Seven, and face Melissan together. Either way, it is in Cyric's interests to have the battle for the Throne of Bhaal be as bloody as possible: The greater the amount of Bhaal's energy expended in the struggle for the Throne, the weaker the resulting diety (if any) will be, and the easier for Cyric to overthrow or subvert. Cool, this would make a nice MOD. I'd like to see that.

I assume you are also going to prebuff the mages? Understandable because they KNOW there is going to be trouble, but combined with the spell refresh, they could be a big pain in the bum. Saying that, I'd like to see them take one of the sexy Wizard Slayer/Thief combos :D |

As for making it into a MOD, let's just say it'll have to get in line. |

Well if you/anybody makes this MOD i would really like to play it. |
Gul'dan? Isn't Gul'dan the name of the sorceror guy from the Warcraft series?
|
My take on the Five or Seven is that the Five run by Mellisan was orriginally more but weaker Bhallspawn. When Mellisan found out about the more powerful Bhallspawn she cajoules them into helping her, feeding their bloodlust by accidently telling them where the old members of the seven are hidding(sound familiar?) Of course Six's explanation is way more involved and IMHO and neater story, as for the Mod. If Six ever gets around to it, I'm sure that is will be very well done. It is an awsome idea after all.

There's also a nice little fight before you meet the Seven, though, and those guy are named Janine, Peter, Ray, Egon, Winston, Melnitz, Venkman, Stanz, Spengler, and Zeddemore. Name the reference. |
You now have the Ghostbusters theme stuck in my head. Thank you oh SO much, Six. Whatever happened to dwarves, or deadly sins, or powers, or virtues?
And if you're going to do that, you have to get the Spectator Beholder back to ask the same list of questions Janine asked Winston. ("Do you believe in extra-sensory perception, ectoplasmic manifestation, reincarnation, the Bermuda Triangle, poltergeist activity, the Von Daniken hypotheses, psychokinesis, ancestral memory, and the lost continent of Atlantis?") Ah, heck, just bring the Spectator Beholder back! |
