SPOILER PROBABIBILITY

Hmmm, guys, I don't really know if this is a computer glitch, game glitch or what, but I think I found something really good that is an attack early on in ToB against Firegiants. I put SoulReaver on Sarevok, and this is what it said on the screen a couple of times when I killed some firegiants.

Sarevok- Did 23 damage to firegiant
Sarevok- Did 200 damage to firegaint <--- 200?
Firegiant- Death
Firegiant- Deathbringer Assualt

I'm not too sure what the deal is there, and the thing is, that didn't even come up as a critical hit either. Gemme some feedback on this.

Pyrenk 01-04-2003 11:20 PM

It's Sarevok's special ability-Deathbringer Assault. IIRC, it automatically does 200 damage, on top of the regular. Always 200+ though.

Gangrell 01-04-2003 11:22 PM

So, how do I do it again? He's never done it any other time except against the giants.

Pyrenk 01-04-2003 11:27 PM

I don't remember what needs to happen, but it is random. I'll go hunt now..

LOL. Small tip, when asking a question, check the forum first (there is a nifty search button on top...)

The Deathbringer Assault, just won my heart at first sight! I was amazed! I was usually doing like 220-260 damage with that move! Honestly, that is why I always say that Sarevok is the best NPC!!!

One question of my own:
When he executes his Deathbringer Assault, will he be able to roll a critical and add up the damage he causes? I never came across anything like that, or I did and I forgot because it's been so long since I have played the game..

No. The Deathbringer Assault damage is added after the regular damage. Jim showed this in his famous Most Powerful Backstab thread--the screenshot showed Sarevok getting a Critical Quintuple Backstab with the Staff of the Ram (for something like 462 damage), and then the Deathbringer Assault was added, bringing the total to 662 or so.

Shhhiiii---zu. Ultimate dragon buster right there man.

SixOfSpades 01-10-2003 05:57 PM

All Dragons are immune to Backstab, for reasons that I hope are now obvious. ;)

Gangrell 01-10-2003 08:04 PM

Yea, but Staff of the Ram along with Deathbringer Assault should be a major help right?

Raistlin Majere 01-16-2003 09:35 AM

I wonder why dragons are immune to Backstab. couldnt you just like climb up his tail telling him youll give him a backscrach and then, when he certainly wont excpect it, you stick youre enchanted dagger into his back. (hahahaa, stupid dragon)

just in case some of you think me crazy, this was a lame joke.

Pyrenk 01-18-2003 05:12 PM

Dragon's aren't exactly what I'd call a pocket tool...

If you were a giant, and a human stabbed you in the back, would you feel it? If you were a human, the blow would be distributed over a smaller area, but since giants are so large, it wouldnt do much, Now, dragons are a tad larger than giants....

Second thing-you can make exceptionally good armor from dragon scales, a small amount of what the dragon has. Now if the dragon has those covering its whole body...Will you do too much damage?

A TAD bigger than giants? I've gotten pretty used to fighting dragons by now, and if I've learned anything, is that once you knock their spell protections, the rest is a cake-walk. (besides the breath weapon, I mean) And of course, the game designers make it where dragons have the biggest ego's in the game.. For example...

Saladrex at Watcher's Keep:

"Oh look, a new mouse has stumbled apon my layer. I had thought it was the mind flayers that were causing those sounds of battles on the gethyankies again, but it seems to have been you."

"Are you the Imprisoned One?"

"Imprisoned One? I don't know what your talking about. But let's talk about me, surely I am the most magnificient creature you've ever seen." <--- Riiight...

And of course, I always answer one of two ways, or both.

"Eh, seen one dragon, seen them all." or

"A crazy dragon? Sounds like a fun battle! Un garde Saladrex the Unhinged!"
Still my favorite battle cry.
