Okay, both times I played ToB, my alignment went from lawful good to neutral evil once the games switched. My character both times was a Paladin Inquisitor with an at least average reputation.

Aelia Jusa 07-26-2002 01:17 AM

Most likely it was because you took the evil path in one or more of the quests in hell before going to ToB. If you do something evil, like killing the dragon or the guy with the soulreaver your alignment changes to neutral evil.

How do you not kill the dragon?

In the hell test the Demon will tell you to kill a beast of great power, just ask "What kind of beast?" and "Why should I kill it?" and "I don't kill things that are just in my way!"

Then demon gives up and moves out of your way, the dragon thanks you and HOORAY! You get a tear without taking the evil path. :D

Instead of starting a new thread... thought I would continue on this one.

I picked one of the evil choices at the end of SoA while in Hell, and now starting ToB. Don't like the Neutral Evil alignment, and want to go back to Lawful Neutral (I have the Robe of Neutral Archmagi and don't want to lose it just yet).

I got Shadowkeeper to try to change it back, but after I make the alignment change and save the new edited game (a multiplayer game, btw), my character is STILL set to N. Evil. Any ideas or help on this would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Alson 02-13-2003 01:28 PM

Yes, that's a known issue... The reason is that in order to change your alignment, the game adds an "effect" to your character which causes the change. See if you can locate that effect in Shadowkeeper. I'll also have a look.

Alson 02-13-2003 01:41 PM

Hmmm... Try this (assuming you enabled Debug Mode):
</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">CLUAConsole:ChangeAlignment(Player1,LA WFUL_NEUTRAL)</pre>
Mr Flibble 02-13-2003 02:47 PM

Thanks for the suggestion!

Hmmm, are you meaning for me to use the in-game editor? If so, I tried that command exactly as typed- CLUAConsole:ChangeAlignment(Player1,LAWFUL_NEUTRAL ), and it said back to me:

lua: call expression not a funtion
Active Stack:
Active Stack:

That's exactly what appeared. Any other ideas? =]

Angelousss 02-13-2003 03:25 PM

i'd suggest getting shadowkeeper it's alot easier to use

Mr Flibble 02-13-2003 03:47 PM

I did get Shadowkeeper, and tried to use it, but it didn't actually change my character's alignment in the game. Despite it saying 'lawful neutral' in the editor, in the newly edited game my char was the same as before. I tried using the pull down bar as well as the "set" button, neither worked.

Vedran 02-13-2003 03:56 PM

Angelousss implies that you should change the effect with SK, not the actual alignment value.

Mr Flibble 02-13-2003 04:14 PM

Do you know what that variable is called by chance? I haven't been able to find it yet on my own (or at least, it's nothing that 'stands out' to me).

Thanks

Mr Flibble 02-13-2003 05:53 PM

Actually, I think I have found it, but don't know what to change...

In Shadowkeeper under Affects:
Alignment Change: Param1=0 Param2=35 Resource3=Hell Selfish Evil (SPIN747) Time=45 Flags=0x00000009 Target=0x0002

Reputation: Param 1=-1 Param2=0 Resource3=Hell Selfish Evil (SPIN747) Time=45 Flags=0x00000009 Target=0x0002

Anyone know what it is that I need to change?

Desuma Malevois 02-13-2003 06:18 PM

Try just deleting it, and then save to a new game. It's not an effect that you start out with, so I would think doing this would return you to "normal".

I get that error when I spell something wrong. I think it happens when you spell it Clua or cLUA or something like that.

<font color="lightblue">That would imply that you typed it as CluaConsole:blablabla; not CLUAConsole. </font>

Luvian 02-13-2003 08:55 PM

They made the neutral evil aligment that way so that people could not chose an evil path, and then cheat the aligment back.

Isn't there a 'Helm of Alignment Changing' or something out there?

Nope

Alson 02-14-2003 08:43 AM

Mr Flibble, if all fails, tell me, and i'll write a simple script for you that will change it back (simple, as in put in the Scripts folder, apply it to the PC and press a certain hotkey).

Bill26 02-14-2003 09:06 AM

If this is for the character with the robe. Just use sk to give yourself the robe of evil archmage.

Dragonshadow 03-10-2003 08:47 AM

Hey, if your good, you go bad
If yer bad, ya go good
Wot if yer True Neutrul?

SixOfSpades 03-10-2003 01:07 PM

Without the BaldurDash Fixpack, ALL alignments will become Neutral Evil after taking the Evil path in any of the Tests.
After the Fixpack has been installed, characters who were already Evil will not experience any alignment change no matter what paths they take.

And the moral of the story is? You sow what you reap. ;)

Dragonshadow 03-11-2003 08:43 AM

What if you are neutral evil to start?
Ahahahahahahaha
Not a mega blow to the head if you are.
