OK...this is going to sound like a stupid question, but how do you get more than 2 "*" on weapon specialization??????? It was a nagging question in the back of my mind the whole time I was playing, but since my enemies all fell before me quite swiftly I never gave it a ton of thought.........I tried clicking on more "*" when a new specialization opened up, but it only let me get to 2....argggggh!!!

Only Fighters( and their kits) can have more than 2* in their weapon-type proficiencies.
|
Wouldn't Jaheira get to do it eventually then, or is it verboten for multi-class?
And I have to admit a lack of knowledge of 2nd and 3rd edition rules but aren't Rangers and Paladins considered some kind of sub-class of fighters? |
To further clarify, only pure or dualclassed Fighters can have more than 2* in any weapon-type proficiencies. Multiclassed combinations that include the Fighter class, can only Specialise and go no further( but they can have 3* in Two Weapon Style).
Paladins and Rangers are considered Warrior types, but not Fighters. They can have 3* in Two Weapon Style too though. This applies to Barbarians as well. |
Damn...thanks Dundee I never caught that on 2 weapon style....oh well, mental note for the next run through.......thx
|
No problem.
|
P.S there is a class that can have more than 2 that people have forgotten to mention, the archer ;) can have 5 in missile weapons but only 1 in melee weapons
|
a bard kit (blade IIRC) can get 2 "*" as well
|
A Swashbuckler can also have 2* (and 3* on two weapon style)

To clarify all this stiff into one concise post:
All true-classed or Dual-classed Fighters can put up to 5 stars in any weapon that they are allowed to use (some kits forbid the use of certain weapons). All other Warriors (Barbarian, Paladin, Ranger) can put up to 2 stars into any allowed weapon. This limitation also applies to Multiclassed Warriors. All Warriors can put the maximum amount of proficiency points into each of the Weapon Styles. All of the other classes can put only one point into a weapon, and one point into each of the Weapon Styles (with the exception of the Wizards, who cannot put any stars into the Styles). Any exceptions to these rules arise from taking specific kits of the basic classes, and will be noted in the Kit Description. As far as I know, the only rule that is not noted in the Kit Descriptions is that the Archer may only put 2 stars in Sling. |
Just to clarify everyone's clarifications... er, what was I gonna say?
