While partying with Sarevok, once in a while he amazes me by doing 200 points of damage to an opponent with the words "Deathbringer" appearing in the dialogue box. No monster survives it.

Does anyone know if it's his innate ability? I never played BG1, so I'm not sure if he had this ability before.

Yes, it's inate, as is his paralysis/stun attack.

Actaly its called "Deathbringer Assualt", and i dont think its an innate ability

I don't think it's Deathblow (which is a learned ability), but it might be. If it isn't, it's inate.

It's an innate ability which is like a mega-critical hit which takes place when a certain set of scripting conditions are met. And yes, it's called Deathbringer Assault.

Is he the only char to have a super duper Deathblow like this?

I've not seen anything else from other chars....

It's his unique little thing.

He also has another unique little trait that comes up when his HP are reduced to *just* below zero. ;)

...And he's got the ability to simply frighten opponents into temporary stun. Again, it's a sometime thing.

OK, Im just a NEWBIE to this message board, but seriously people. RTFM! If you simply read Sarevoks profile it will explain all about the Deathblow Assault. No other chracters have this ability. A few monsters do, I have seen dragons and demogorgon use the deathbringer assault.

Micah Foehammer 01-14-2002 07:54 PM

Jimmy, get your facts straight please. NOWHERE in the TOB manual is Sarevok even MENTIONED; there is NO such profile for him and the special ability DEATHBRINGER ASSAULT is NOT described. I have the TOB Instruction manual right in front of me. If you think it DOES exist there, give us a page reference.

Jimmy James 01-14-2002 08:45 PM

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend the great and powerful Micah with my misinformation. though, RTFM still applies. When I said "profile" I meant Biography (each character has one!) In Sarevoks Bio it states clearly that he uses the "deathbringer assault" as well as being able to frighten opponents. The "manual" for games can come in many different forms, online help systems, character bios and even Elminsters Appendix! So read, read, read, it's all there. Though it doesn't tell you the exact formula for the deathbringer effect, it's pretty clear what it does. The real manual (which Micah is currently consulting) is not very informative. However, anyone who bothered to look at Sarevoks Bio could probably figure out what I meant when I said his "profile" (which I believe is the button LEADING to the Bio).

Hope that cleared things up, thanks for the flame Micah!

Jimmy James

You didn't offend me with your first post or your reply. If you list a source for your info, just make sure its accurate. Flaming someone for NOT reading the manual when the information you are quoting comes from a different source is not good form. EOD
