Hmmmm....what is it and how do I get it...I mean should I just kick that poor Cambion instead of playing along that silly game of his?

Sparhawk always kicks Annias

You get the Spectral Brand either when you kill the Cambion or win it off him, one of those two things gains you the sword, the other dosen't, you can upgrade it with the liquid mercury that you find somewhere I believe, can't remember it's stats but I do remember thinking that it was a pretty good sword when I upgraded it.

Dundee Slaytern 11-07-2001 12:50 PM

Liquid Mercury is for another sword, Spectral Brand needs Skull of Lich.

If you gamble it off him, you gain 20,000 Xp per party member.

Sir ReGiN 11-07-2001 12:53 PM

Is it any good?

If I'd known that, I'd try more harder to win it from that cambion...

Sparhawk 11-07-2001 04:01 PM

How in the devils name do I win it from him..al he did was to keep telling me thathe got better cards that me...I should have pounded him into the ground...but I´m just to good a guy!!!

You've got a chance of winning, but it isn't exactly huge.

AzRaeL StoRmBlaDe 11-07-2001 08:20 PM

I'de just kill him for it. you can't trust a demon anyways, especially the gambler type ;)

You have a 25% chance of winning the first and second round. So just keep reloading as necessary.

You will always lose the third round, but try to get the Emperor card. It confers a permanent blessing.

Too Hot 11-28-2001 01:51 PM

I put the weapon on jaheira she is now amazin

andrewas 11-28-2001 05:51 PM

jaheria is amazing anyway. just use the rod of the ram +6 and remember not to follow the flying unconcious dudes.

the only problem with reloading is that the game results are calculated when you step through the portal to the guy. (at least i always got the same results from a save after that point), so youd have to save before that point. the chances of 2 wins, + the emperor card are pretty low.

still, the cances of a char generated with 102 stats is pretty low as well, but that dosent stop some people.

Not true. I Quicksave just before I gamble each round, and Quickload if I lose. At most, it takes about 4-5 Quickloads before I score a win. Remember, 25% chance.

andrewas 11-29-2001 07:49 PM

25% chance, but i got the same results (i lose) about 5 times in a row. mind you, from a guy thats manages to roll 6 1's in a row, thats not too bad actually. (and not a one was a roll-below test either)

Seraph 11-29-2001 08:01 PM

You have to do something to reset the random number seed. Cast a spell, move, I think just about anything will do it. But if you do the exact same thing each time after you load, you'll get the same result.

andrewas 11-29-2001 09:30 PM

is that seeding thing from knowledge of this specific program or just a guess? cos when i write a prog with random numbers - including my bg clone esp for multi player dueling (no its not even approaching alpha stages yet,and never will graphicaly) i always put either a PID (in unix) or the system clock into the seed, either way it is different each time. i thought it was calculated on entering the room, since it has to be calculated some time and its either then or on starting dialogue with the demon. except, according to dundee, its neither but is calculated on the fly.

thank god i dont have to worry about quest scripting for a multi-player duel.

Dundee Slaytern 11-30-2001 01:07 AM

Well, what I usually do is stand in front of the Cambion and Quicksave, then I talk to him. Bad result? Quickload and try again.
