If you had to choose between Chain Lightning, or Invisible Stalker, which one will you choose? Please only decide between these two spells, and give your reasons for why.

Two really good spells!!!!! I like chain
lightning because it damages all enemies and I occasionally like to put three in a spell trigger; however, my vote is for Invisible stalker. There are a lot of summoning spells out there and this one is top notch!! I've tried this spell in ToB and while my other summoned creatures would be dying right and left, my invisible stalker would be still hacking away at the enemy. Hmmmm, maybe I should put three invisible stalkers in a spell trigger when I have a big fight coming up. I just like spells that I feel I'm getting my moneys worth with. That's why I like summoning critters. Chain lightning is just over so quickly. |
Invisible stalker is more adaptable than chain lighting but you can't really compare them because they're completely different-I usually go with both.
|
I would choose chain lightning because it is much more efficient. I mean, few people have resistance to electricity and you can deal with lots of enemies quickly and effortlessly. I don't like the invisible stalker because I think it's useless. If he had a better weapon (he carries normal ones) he would be great.

Yep, I think Chain Lightning should be the must-have before Invisble Stalker. Mitsos pretty much summed up the pros. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Chain Lightning wins. The invisible stalker is a nice summon before your mage or cleric hit level 15, but afterwards, there is little reason to summon stalkers instead of summoning Skeletal Warriors, which do more damage, and last much longer.

Ok, so that is 3 votes to Chain Lightning and 2 votes to Invisible Stalker. I will wait another day and see whether more people vote. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

I cast my vote for Chain Lightning. granted, Invisible Stalker conjures up a hardy little badass that can be of help, but Chain Lightning is a spell i use far more, is more useful in a wider variety of contexts, and what someone said about loading a bunch of them in a spell trigger is a great great thing.

I vote for chain lightning, invisble stalker is good, but as sayd earlyer in this post is after the 15th level the animate dead the best summon

Here's a question: Which spell would
come in more handy if, say, you are going to solo the game? |
Chain lightning is the better of the two spells. Damaging more
than one enemy at a time is always the way to go. Mass destruction...http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/skull.gif |
my 2 cents.
it always ticked me off when a mage would cast chain lightning on my party. it hurt. if they summon yet another monster, no matter how tough, death spell can get rid of all summoned monsters. easy to manage. electricity damage on the other hand, only 2 of my characters have any resistance to it. similarly, the enemy can quickly dispatch any summoned creatures. |
i use figher most anyway, but when i am forced to use magic, i go for chain lightning. well, actually i most often fire of barrages of magic missiles and acid arrows (the _only_ must haves in the game cept for heal http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif ), but apart from that (and cloudkill, storm of vengeance, cone of cold, flamstrike, sunray, haste, entangle), i use chain lightining.
i scarcley use summons. most of the time they get interupted (i never get around to preparing) or killed right off. exception - monster summoning one to absorb time stops. ifs just funny to watch irenicus deailing about 500 damage to a rabid dog. i dont think i even have invisible stalker. might have written it for exp but i dont recall it. |
Okey-dokey, it is settled then, Chain Lightning it is.
Thanks people. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif |
I prefer chain lightning - it can really do some damage if used correctly http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Out of all the summoning spells, I found inv stalker one of the rappier ones, I say go with chain lightning.
|
Everyone is voting for chain lightning because it atttacks everyone but invisible stalker allso attacks everyone because it is so hard it plows through them quikly no compitition INVISIBLE STALKER
Takes the Cake |
Wow...Chain Lightning is better as it is a quicker spell. When you cast it you deal average damage to all enemies, which is quite usefull when soloning. If you spell trigger 3 chain light.. you can get rid from a bunch of foes at once.
|
"Abzi Dalbiz Horrid Wilting" or wat eva is called...
Whoops sorry, Chain Lighting is really top notch! |
Invisible Stalkers are barely a slowdown for the enemies in TOB... Use Chain Lightning, and you have a chance to clear out a small army of little buggers... ;) Spider Spawn is better when you reach a good level and start pulling a duo of swordspiders eachtime, and almost all Monster Summonings are crap of course... lol That was pointless...
|
Chain Lightning!
It's the earliest enemy-only mass-damage spell. It gets better as you head to 20th level. The only summoning spell which does the same is the well-known and loved Animate Dead. And Animate Dead obviates Invisible Stalker. -- Nifft |
I'd have to agree, chain lightning is the way to go. Theres nuthing like having a group of enemies all huddled togethor, and casting two chain lightnings into them and watching them fry, one of my fav spells, course sometimes if they arent close togethor, the spell doesnt do much, so a little timeing is needed to get the full effect.
|
Chain Lightning, of course. For summoning, I use Jaheira's elementals or Anomen's Aerial Servant/Gate (later on, those are Elemental Summoning and Summon Deva) or perhaps Animate Dead. I don't think I've ever used Invisible Stalker. Or Carrion Summons or Wyvern Call for that matter (why do those spells even exist? )
|
you cant really compare the two. They are both very different spells. Chain lightnigh kills weak guys fast, but Invisible stalker is a good distraction. Chain lightning you get the xp for the kills! Which is the main difference. And Chain lightning doesn't last as long as the Invisible Stalker.
|
Use time stop then improoved alactricity summon 5 invissible salkers around them and they will either kill the monster or give you enough time to kill it using better spells heal your party summon better monsters it is alot more usefull if there is only one person i mean chain lightning against 1 enemy will do like 6-16 damage when invisible stalker will do that with each hit Invisible stalker takes the cake.
|
I will vote for Invisible Stalker if I'm soloing because I like to be safe, not saying I don't like Chain Lightning of course it's very nice too. I will vote for Chain Lightning if ur not soloing.
