it's happened again. For some reason every time my character get's direcharmed, he stays that! It looks like it's where'd off, but it didn't. I would sleep, and then I'd wake up red. anyone know how to solve this problem? it's happened to both my dwarven fighters and now my human cleric

Xanthul 02-10-2002 02:07 AM

If an enemy charms a member of your party and you charm him/her again to regain control of him/her, then youŽll have that trouble FOREVER. So go back to a previous saved game, or go get AlgernonŽs cloak and charm those characters every time you wake up.

Harry 02-10-2002 02:13 AM

noooo. does it stay like that if you import to BGII?

Xanthul 02-10-2002 06:13 AM

i dont think so, but i havent tried it

Harry 02-10-2002 08:24 AM

is there anyway that i could like cheat to fix it?

Lavindathar 02-10-2002 09:21 AM

Yo Harry, this just seems like a huge game bug? Your saying that if you just leave your character, he doesn't return to his normal state? It should take around 2-3 mins of RL time for him to return.....

I dont think there is a way to cheat to charm him back, but as Ertai said, Algernon's cloak (or a Nymph's Cloak) will charm him back...but it causes problems?

Thaoloren 02-10-2002 09:56 AM

Try dispel magic ;) If that doesn't work, then try gatekeeper.

Lavindathar 02-10-2002 09:59 AM

Does Dispel Magic work????

I suppose if your game is buggered, you could attempt to charm them back (any1 of the cloaks) or by other methods, and just hope for the best!!
I think I have double charmed before, and it has never given me problems!

Xanthul 02-10-2002 10:07 AM

i think its a bug, it has happened to me many times. and no, there is no way that i know to fix it, i tried LOTS of thing: killing & resurrecting, dispel magic, remove curse, dump from the party and take him/her again... none of them worked, so i just played the whole game charming my characters everyday :D

Lavindathar 02-10-2002 10:11 AM

I'm well sure that this never happened to me....if I needed to charm someone back becuase they was attacking my party, I just charmed them, and then both charms eventually wore off, and they were back to normal. Why doesn't this happen with you?

Harry 02-10-2002 10:55 AM

yeah it never goes off. i had my main character just stand there for a whole night(while i was sleeping) woke up, and he was still charmed. And this happens to me with EVERY character. i think it's the will of god to not let me finish this game.and i don't want to keep recharming him because if i do dispel magic, there he goes again. also, the charms do where off, but then they come back again

I'd load an old save, or something. I guess your BG+TOTSC is fully patched??

Hmmm, as I said, this never happened to me Thank God!

Harry 02-10-2002 11:20 AM

i patched it after that happened, and i saved over it after I defeated the warders, so i'm taking it that i'm screwed

Pretty much...I can't see anything else you can do.

I would recomend that you just charm him, as if you are doing Durlag's, you are nearing the end of the game anyway. Just do that until you complete and are ready to export!!

Or, you could drop him asap, and gain a new member for the remaining parts of the game!

That makes it a total and utterly complete bastard. I guess your just gonna have to charm until the end of the game!!! Just keep stocked up on the spells, and make sure you rest enough!! I suppose your gonna have to go through the game as quick as you possibly can, and either a)play again once finished or b) go onto BG2!

Harry 02-10-2002 02:36 PM

yeah i'm planning on having him go all the way through. and i was looking forward to durlag's tower... actually i wasn't. If it goes to BGII, i'll just use shadow keeper and create a duplicate :\

Lavindathar 02-10-2002 02:45 PM

Shame, cos Durlags is one of the best parts of BG. It's a whole new experiance!

Harry 02-10-2002 10:29 PM

alright, i exported my character to BGII, and he was still turning red, and I sure as hell don't want to do that constantly through BGII, so i axed him

andy the assasin 02-11-2002 04:46 AM

That happened to me in Bg2 as well, the only way of fixing your game is to load an old save where you didn't charm the person who was charmed.

Lavindathar 02-11-2002 01:49 PM

I am SO glad this didnt happen to me....

Tejo Dragonslayer 02-22-2002 12:54 PM

I don't think you can fix it if it is your main character - This happened to me with Imoen. I dropped her from my party, rested a night and picked her back up. The problem was fixed.
