It would be great to make an Everquest single player version for the Forgotten Realms.
Start with Faerun and add Kara-Tur, Lorein, Evermeet, Halurra on as expansion packs!
A bit like Microsoft Flight Sim if you see what I mean. It MUST use the BG2 char and carry on the romance!!!!

how else would they work the plot considering the different endings?

if i had to put money on it, i think we'll see a bg3 (sucessful game begets a sequel ad infinitum) but it won't be:

a) an infinity engine game. (tob does a rather nice job of demonstrating the limits on the engine)
or
b) using the bg2 char's in their final form. (to further their progress would be way way overkill, note: most chars by level 20+ are actually watreed down by pnp standards)

From what I have read, the last game to be made (considered to be made, actually) will be IWD2, before Christmas, probably. I have heard that Baulder's Gate games should continue, but it will be a start from scratch game with a new story and main PC char.

Yeah, the new BG title for PS2 is coming out sometime in the fall (hopefully,) but like you said it's a brand new story, brand new PC, brand new places - except the actual city of Baldur's Gate, which is where the story (kind of) begins.

I'm not sure it will suck so much as just be different than what we're used to. The computer BG series are my favorite computer games of all time, so a new one will be hard-pressed to compare.

Well, the PS2 BG will have MUCH better graphics, obviously, but I have a feeling it's gonna be more hack-n'-slash and less storyline, like a lot of other games (might and magic series, etc.) I hope there's good roleplaying in it.

Also, your race/class options are significantly decreased in the PS2 game. I think you can only be a mage, fighter or cleric, and only a human, elf or dwarf ------> but I'm not sure about this.

frankly i dont think anyone can defeat a nearly god like character, it is pretty boring to be able to cream anybody except other gods. but we will never know for sure...

Hmm, don´t think their will be a new Baldurs Gate, however the DoD universe is big and so is the world of Faerun, and there are lots of places left explore. Personally I would like an offspring BG2 IWD style of game. One where you try to solve some of what the towncriers were blurting out all the time. Could be fun the more freely explore the world.

Also more of the Planescape universe or Greyhawk could be nice..

So well I wont lie sleepless over the BG end, but if there will be no more games like this..

i think they should continue where you make war on the gods... of course, this will never happen but a guy can dream cant he? i got a special bug in my craw about Mystra... and if her 'protector' Kelemvor steps in, then i'll just have to deal with him too...

BG Dark Alliance will be coming out for *soon* the PS2. I doubt Black Isle will go back to the simple hack and slash style, but I doubt the story will be as good as BG2. It would be cool to adventure as the son of the main character, maybe even as Imoen's son. Imoen and some of the other NPCs from BGII could do cameos, even. Maybe they could even include Viconia as a way of making up for the HORRIBLE romanced ending. (End Rant)

It'd be really cool if, after you become a god, you could travel to other planes...get other gods to join your party...Lloth instead of Viconia, Waukeen instead of Aerie, etc.

remember the time of troubles when gods walked the earth? Well...bioware MIGHT give our main character the ability to posses one other NPC...then _they_ will become to PC and a whole new storyline will begin...

of the subject...if my main char is a female, i could still have a romance with Viconia right? ...right?

Anybody who thinks they will be getting another BG game in any way with Dark Alliance will be in for a rude awakening. DA is a 3D Diablo clone with the BG name slapped on for marketing purposes.

As for a real new BG game(at least in the same stlye as the previous, i.e. not a Diablo Hack'n slash game), I could see it for one single reason...money. The BG games made very good sales and could be considered almost a franchise at this point. Interplay is hurting bad and needs some money makers. Although Bioware may not want to make another "Baldur's Gate" they might let someone else do it. I say this cause I think Bioware owns the rights to the BG name, not Interplay. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on that.
