I've seen that with the addition of Sarevok a lot of people are ditching Minsc in favor of him. Is it really worth a little extra firepower in your group when you're going to miss out on all that dialogue that Minsc will undoubtedly have throughtout the game? My favorite part of SOA was at the end when Minsc screams out, "SWORD MEET EVIL!". To me thats worth more than a deathbringer assault anyday.

yes, it is worth the tradeoff. however, i like having them working side by side. they have some great dialogues too, and a Deathbringer Assault backed up by Boo can defeat any enemy!

I have Minsk and Sarevok together. They make a great team.

I like Minsc better.

How do you get Sarevok to do his Deathbringer Assault?http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...s/confused.gif

Is it always on a critical hit? I think I have had him do regular critical hits without the Deathbringer Assault. As far as Minsc vs Sarevok I took them both. I have had Minsc around for so long ( all through BG1, SoA, etc. ) I just couldnt let him go. I was using Keldorn as my other front line fighter in SoA, but dropped him in favor of Sarevok.

wel i enjoy playing an irratically stupid party thats going to fall apart in minutes so i took them both. in fact i have all 3 of the NPC's with the funnyiest dialogue, to my knowledge at least (minsc, jan and edwin.) just so you know i've never had annyone quit the group (it me a barbarian, aerie, jan minsc, edwin and saravock. and i play with a rep of 18ish) http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

I was the one who said that he does it on a critical hit, now I'm not so sure, because he's done it without critical hits. One day I'll look at his scripting and find out (when I actually finish the game).

you may miss out on Minsc's dialog if you take Sarevok, but then you'd be getting all of Sarevok's dialog, of which there is plenty. however, my next time through I plan to use both as I'm sure they have some interesting things to say to each other.
I'm pretty sure Sarevok's Deathbringer blow doesn't always happen on a critical hit; if this is the case I'd love to know exactly what triggers it. Die! ------------------ -- trux |
Yup, I have them both, along with Keldorn, and they absolutely rock! Sarevok is using the 'only-evil' two-handed +4 sword from SoA, and Minsc dual-wields Crom Faeyr and the new upgraded Flail of Ages (still missing one head). Wow, what a combo.
One question though: does Sarevok have any other special powers besides the Deathbringer Assault? Cause sometimes I charge him in alone, and he seems to 'stun' enemies a la the Celestial Fury (without the animation), even though none of his equipment has stun properties. Ideas? |
Personally i would keep minsc, he has been around since the beginning and his ending actually brought a tear to my eye. Plus he is just cool. Secondly it seems Sarevok has some abilities that he does that you can't control, he can defy death, deathbringer assault, among other things
|
i have both minsc and sarevok.
plus when i revived sarevok, i let him have a piece of immy's soul, rather than mine. after all, i didnt wanna be watching my back alla time with him around. he's been uh.. "altered" quite a bit by our sweet immy's soul. sarevok has gone from being the monster we all knew and loved to being a bosom buddy to immy! they talk about running thru the flowers and all, while minsc stands around with his jaw dropping. course, he's still a relentless killing machine when he gets pointed at an enemy.
