Ditto. Five votes to one so far in favour of the merging...

robertthebard 02-22-2006 11:39 AM

While I'm not sure it's even an issue now, there may be players that are only running BG II now, and may not want to get info on ToB until they are involved in that expansion. As I said, not sure it's an issue, but it could be.

Zink Whistlefly 02-22-2006 11:51 AM

True Robert, although I suspect the same could be said about the NWN/SoU/HoTU forum (although I concede that the OC is very much independent from the others, but SoU+HoTU could be considered as going together like BG2+ToB).

From the distinct lack of activity in this forum these days, I say make the merge happen, especially considering that IWD+HoW were always merged, with the BG2+ToB forums always being separate - which I can only assume was because of the masses of activity that these forums had back in their day - but things have slowed down dramatically recently :( .

Kyrvias 02-22-2006 10:29 PM

I vote tehy merge. The lack of activity is... unsettling.

lost prophet 02-24-2006 03:43 AM

<font color = shadowed cyan> Merge. the TOB forum is almost dead and SoA is getting there, merging will breathe some life into them and hopefully intice people to post more often</font>

timothy trotter 03-02-2006 06:11 AM

go the merge, it will breathe some life into the TOB forums, hopefully

Balintherlas 03-03-2006 11:08 AM

What are we talking about? Synergy people.

timothy trotter 03-03-2006 09:10 PM

turnip!

Sir Goulum 03-03-2006 11:54 PM

As I said multiple times already.... merge!

Zink Whistlefly 03-29-2006 06:33 AM

Just a further thought - should it be moved to the "Ironworks Gaming Classics" forum once merged? Seeing Icewind Dale II already in there which is a more recent game makes this seem logical...?

Funny you should say that - there's one person posting in the SoA forum at the moment on his first ever run-through.

I say keep them separate.

Detherin 03-31-2006 06:23 AM

My vote goes for the merge. So long as topics have easily distinguishable game referrences in the topic title, then there should be very little to spoil any potential new-comers.

Xen 04-07-2006 03:16 PM

One can always read ToB spoilers no matter if the forums are seperated or not, I say merge.

Black Baron 04-08-2006 08:29 AM

Merge, you can always add "ToB spoiler ahead" and thats all. I also like the idea of merging it with IWD 2&1.

Sir Exxon 04-08-2006 09:00 AM

Seems like a merge would be in place, might even put BG1 in there....

Well look who's shown up.

Klorox 04-09-2006 10:11 AM

I'm surprised to see they're still not merged!

Dundee Slaytern 04-09-2006 02:17 PM

These kind of decisions take time.

supercowman 05-10-2006 09:30 AM

I say merge them but make all posters put the tag: SoA or ToB on there subject name so people can know to either reply or steer clear.

Harkoliar 05-10-2006 10:23 AM

TURNIP!!! .

really though we all can see the merging would be better. just be careful in the spoiler tags.

</font>
I've still not played TOb either, despitae having BG2 for a long, long time. But if it was made that TOB had to be put in every thread relating to it I would not see the problem.

Klorox 05-14-2006 07:38 PM

Hey Aragorn1, do you have ToB installed, or do you not have it at all? It really adds some fun, even if you never do the ToB expansion.

Anyway, I too feel they should be merged (or possibly all three BG games), with the requirement that the game in question is specified in the title of the thread.

Neomi 05-20-2006 09:19 AM

I think the amount of traffic on the TOB page pretty much sums it up. It needs to be merged as it is already dying a slow painful death.

The one risk is that a rare new player could stumble upon plot elements much later in the series, though this can be solved by restraint and proper spoiler tags on the part of other board members.

I don't think there are very many people left that still don't know what happens at Spellhold, or the NPC who can join in TOB.

Very ture, but you really wouldn't want to ruin the surprise for those few newcomers.

Tom-Slayer 06-20-2006 12:59 AM

You want my 2 cents ? (well my newly liberated two cents atleast :D ...)

Of course you don't, but i'll tell you what i think anyway...

ATLEAST merge the TOB and SOA forums, and in every title everyone could simply put SOA or TOB... and still have the courtesy spoiler tags for those events that not everyone knows about.

I would even include the BG1 forum personaly as that's just as bad as the TOB forum! But then you would have the problem of adding BG or TotSC headers along with SOA and TOB... also someone might accidently read a thread without a header thinking it is BG1 Whilst it is BG2 and perhaps spoiling something for them.

But then again how many people would have BG1 and not have BG2!?

Well that's my 2 cents... :D

chickenhed 06-22-2006 05:49 PM

Absolutely merge it.

xander12402 09-02-2006 09:08 AM

I have never played ToB and am only on my second run thru of SoA, but do not see it as problematic in any shape or form, you do not HAVE to read it, so as long as people are clearly marking ** SPOILERS** then everything should be tickety boo.

Tom-Slayer 11-07-2006 12:54 AM

haha turnip
