Read the title...

Deriex's Tower, in Ust Natha.

Spoilers, even though this entire thread is one.

I'm almost 100% sure that particular ring in Deirex' tower is the Ring of Clumsiness, which has nothing good about it except that it reduces your dex by 1/2. That ring is gold with a purple thing in the middle. The Ring of Folly is found also in the Underdark, but located in the svirneblin encampment. As you go south to the plank that grants you access to the two rooms in the encampment, go east instead of west. Somewhere along there should be the Ring of Folly, which reduces your wisdom. This ring is silver with a little open space where a gem should be. Hope that helps.

You can get another from the trademeet genies, threaten them then tell them you'll do nothing, they'll give you the ring as reward.

Just tested that out, that is freaking awesome! But what use is it? Once I put it on, the feeblemind takes over and I can't do anything.

White Lancer 05-22-2005 07:09 PM

Just out of interest, why do you want this ring?

mad=dog 05-22-2005 09:21 PM

To summon vampires from a limited wish with an evil cleric/mage I would guess.

Do you need lower dexterity for that?

whathuh 05-22-2005 10:57 PM

no, you need low wisdom for that, but I can't do anything when I am using the ring since it IS a feeblemind spell.

mad=dog 05-22-2005 11:16 PM

I see. Nevertheless I think that was the intention. What about cursed scrolls of foolishness for the purpose then?

Now THERE'S an idea!

You guys are right... the Ring of Folly trick doesn't work. :(
I'm VERY sure that I read on another forum about a cleric/mage summoning vampires using limited wish. They lowered their wisdom in a legit way (using clones and an item...)

Hmm, I wonder what would happen if you gave Yoshimo the 'Ring of Folly' before he betrays you? HEHEHE...

I do not know if it works the same way in BG2 as it did in BG1. In BG1 you could sell unidentified cursed scrolls and they would multiply. If you sold 1 scroll you could buy back 5 (for the price of 1 gp pr 5). There is a scroll of foolishness in Finnegans (or whatever his name is) room in the starting area.

that thread has been deleted I think, and theres no archives of the posts either.
