After I finished exploring Ulcaster ruins, and returning the tome, very interesting read, I tried to kill the specter. I hit him once for 4points of damage. Then everytime I hit him it did 0 damage. Magic doesn't seem to work, niether did arrows of fire. Has anyone been able to kill him? Also...it seems that every time i score a hit for (0) damage, a group of skeletons appears. I might be paranoid or something, but that's what happened.

I've never been able to touch him at all, and I quickly stopped trying. I mean, it's not really likely that a GHOST is going to drop you a cool item, so what's the point, apart from saying you did it? But as a point of curiosity, what weapon/spell did the 4 Damage?

the blue ( +1 or +2) bastard sword. I never bothered to identify it for i don't have anyone able to cast the spell, and didn't feel like wasting money. Shar-Teel made the hit, she was at 8 THAC0. It was really weird because it would say:
Ulcaster - Damage Taken (4)
Ulcaster - Damage Taken (0)
Ulcaster - Damage Taken (0)
Ulcaster - Damage Taken (0)
and the rest were 0's.

still, would be cool if someone killed him.

He is not a ghost,Wheres a ghost ring that causes him to apear as a ghost.

He most probably found that info using Infinty Explorer--it's a program that lets you go into any game using the same engine as BG (Icewind Dale, Neverwinter, etc) and look up all the details--ALL of them--on any item, character, or (I think) script in the game. I think this is also how some of the more difficult Easter Eggs became known to the general public, such as the RoW at the Friendly Arm and the Vampric Sword.
SecretMaster, there is probably no way you could get that ring, as it's almost certainly designated as a "Non-removable" item. There are a few characters in the game that have certain magical effects: For instance, Slythe in the Undercellar is under Blur and Haste, and it's NOT from a spell--if you wait for it to wear off, it won't. He's wearing magic rings that give those effects, and rather than make a Ring of Haste available to the players, BioWare made the rings "Non-removable," which means they can't be taken from him, even after he's dead.

Yes,I do have I.E.
I made the ring visible in my game.
Casts Blur
Makes chrecters Glow
Slows movement,

Ulcaster Will Never turn unfreindly.So if you kill him you'll only get 10% XP.

Punch him and you will be able to damage him. This will be easier if you corner him.

If It Is "Ghost2" wouldn't you be able to get it through the CLUA Console cheat?? Just wondering...

I told you a while back you can damage him if you punch him,has
any one been able to kill him.
how ever reading another post before called 'xan and zombies'
i know you can only knock people out with fists. So he must
be unkillable

there is another very interesting thing about ulcaster:

you must get him the statue from the archeological guy (same map as the mad nashkel soldier leader) and also get him the destroyed piece of armor from firewine bridge. ulcaster will give you a vampiric sword.... this one s pretty cool ;)
