ok soo is the Crom Faeyr worth making, i don't have all the pieces yet but my party is
Archer Keldorn Minsc Jaheria Aerie Yoshimo/ Imoen soon i know where all the pieces are and well Jaheria is a lvl 9fighter lvl 12 druid when will she get her next weapon profeiences point?? cose if i will get one to put into warhammers befor we get back from underdrak i might think about it but would the Crom Faeyr be a good weapon for her since one1 else really needs it as, me and minsc just chop stuff from the back with our bows |
It's worth making it. Warriors get 1 proficiency every 3 levels while all other classes get 1 proficiency every 6 levels. Jaheira's best weapon definately comes towards the end of the game (it's an excellent staff) IMHO, so why don't you make it
|
Making the Crom Faeyr is worth beacuse of 3 reasons:
1- completing is quite fun 2- nice exp, get to fight some nice monsters 3- the weapon itself. spoilers . . . . . the crom faeyr scroll is with the black dragon in the Ruined Temple, The Girdle of Frost Giant is in a room in the Kua-Toa's lair (Underdark), Gauntles of Ogre Power (Planar Sphere) and the Hammer of Thunderbolts is in the Ilithid Lair (sewers). I have never used Crom with Jah, though I think it would work out just as fine as if using Misnc. I simply don't give it to Jah cuz I always give her Blackblood +3. Don't knowif your party could make a decent use of Crom, but looking for it´s parts is definitely worth, using it or not ;) |
Equip your Archer with the Crom Faeyr. It's well worth it. Here are the stats for it:
STATISTICS: Special Abilities: grants 25 Strength kills Stone Golems, Clay Golems, Ettins and Trolls Thac0: +5 bonus Damage: 2D4 + 3 Damage type: crushing Weight: 4 Speed Factor: 1 Proficiency Type: War Hammer Type: 1-handed Not Usable By: Druid Mage Thief |
Jaheira won't be able to use a warhammer will she being a druid and all?
How about giving it to a tensers transformed Aerie |
as keldorn has the best 2 handed dword (or should do), have Minsc dual weild the crom in his offhand with a decent longsword in his main hand. the guy will be a powerhouse of the highest order, and he's almost set up for it anyway being a ranger.
and jaheira can't use it im afraid |
Give it to a buffed Anomen and see what happens! :D
|
Minsc is acting as a ranger for me and i wanna try that... Unless you think i really give it to him in which case i will start the game ova and have his profencies go into war hammer and long sword or i will make a char to wield em my self not to sure yet :S
|
how bout a new party with a Skald duel wielding Crom Faeyr and not sure gimmie somthing would that work well?? and who should i bring along i might bring Edwin since he is godly mage and have little old Imoen as my helping lil sis Keldorn cose hes not to bad
soo Skald Keldorn Edwin Imoen/Yoshimo till then Mazzy as ranger?? Or maybe Minsc Anomen/Aerie/Jaheria who should be my cleric or take Keldorn SKald Edwin Imoen/Yoshimo Anomen Jaheria does the no ranger matter?? |
Keldorn
your old archer Edwin Imoen/Yoshimo Minsc Jaheira |
Jaheira cannot use Crom Faeyr, and I don't see anyone in your party particularly suited to use it. Not assembling the hammer will give you more STR-enhancing items to divide between your party members. Better that several have decent strength than that one has super strength, particularly when it doesn't seem like anyone in your party would benefit much from it.

@JrKASperov
the thing about giving clerics the crom is, the buffs which make them a viable tank override the strength enhancements. for example: the buffs to make a cleric a tank - holy power, righteous magic, draw upon holy might. that gives the cleric the THAC0 of a fighter, extra HP and strength and then some more strength, dex (improving AC) and con (giving more HP) a high level cleric (and by this i mean the end of SoA) can feasibly get 23-25 in str, dex and con with DUHM alone (giving the main benefit of the crom in one spell PLUS extra AC, HP and natural regeneration). a cleric is far more effective weilding the FoA than he is weilding the crom. even Annoyman, who can be set up to dual weild effectively, benefits more from combos which include the defender of easthaven in his off hand than he does from the use of the crom. the best characters to give the crom to are fighter/mages, fighters and bards. |
As i said before, your archer is an excellent character to give the Crom Faeyr.
|
I never bother making Crom Faeyr, even when I have all the parts. Crom Faeyr requires 2 strength enhancing items, plus a hand to wield what is otherwise a fairly ordinary hammer. I tend to feel you are better off having 2 enhanced characters weilding FOA, Celestial Fury, SotM, blackblood or whatever.
|
a fairly ordinary hammer that gives a fighter godlike strength. im not sure what the numbers are, but the THAC0 bonus over the strength belts is pretty damn good.

look at this from a rational perspective...
thrain is correct, crom is wasted on a cleric...the buffs a cleric can use is as good as the 25 strength, or better... so if you have a pure fighter in your party, the crom is worth making to turn him/her into an uber fighter... but is it worth losing the gauntlets of ogre power and the belt of giant strength? for some parties, yes, others no... but by the time you're ready to hit (deleted), you should make it, since you're close to end of the game, and (deleted) has a good strength belt in the loot..and its the last chance to make the item... |
Annoyman.
hahahahaha! Annoyman, hahahhaha!! rofl... damn that's a damn good laugh. |
Quote:
a) Minsc, dual wielding celestial fury and the FOA, wearing the Girdle of Frost Giant Strength versus b) Minsc dual wielding Crom Faeyr and either FOA or celestial fury I suspect there won't be much in it, and option a) lets somebody else wear the gauntlets |
Thing is if i use my archer i won't be using Crom Faeyr in the party at all..
While if i use my Skald which i rolled 10 Str 18 Dex 18 Con 18 Int 14 Wis 15 Cha soo i wanna try the Skald i just can't seem to click with any of the chars, i know it sounds stupid but i just can't find a main char i like. Archer is nice and strong but i dont wanna be a ■■■■■ and hide at the back because thats how hes been made. He is a lowbow archer no 2ways about i.. So i will make this Skald i think, I will Take Skald Keldorn Imoen/Yoshimo till then Edwin Jaheria Anomen umm does any1 kill Edwin their i no the party an't ballanced as in way of Alignment, but are well i just keep the Rep around 12 or 14 for most of game not hard.. |
noone there will kill edwin.
and minsc dual weilding CF and FoA is an ineffective combination. but lets not get off topic. most people will only use strength items to enhance their fighters (and perhaps viconia). in a balanced party that has assembled the crom, there should still be two belts left (frost and stone i believe). so assuming you are using buffs to enhance your cleric, that is three fighters who can get strength enhancements. and that is still not enough for you people? Anomen is going to be using hte Evergard (sp) sling very soon soo his str an't reall ythat bigger thing is it??
|
The Sling of Everard ;)
Well, the stronger you are, the more damage you can do with the sling. Proficiency points are far more valuable however. |
okies thanks
