well i am pritty new to Baldurs Gate II mind u i have owned it for well ova a year i just never got round to playing wish i did now mind you
i did have a quick play befor i got to 100 days around chapter 4 kinda rushed but any way i am playing a half-orc Kensai and i have Valgar, Keldorn, Jaheira, Viconia and Edwin on my team at i am on chapter 2 100 days down i have almost all the quests for this chapter down i am kinda slow but any way when do i get the druid grove amd suldanessbar avalible (bad spelling sry) to go to?? and when i get the oppertunity to get Imoen should i drop Keldorn?? or who or should i not use her and is Anomen or Keldorn beter well thx and any tips thro em at mee thx all |
the druid grove is accesible by talking to flydian in the bridge district and following the quests from there. suldanesselar comes a little later in the game.
it is well documented that any party combination can finish the game. yours has some........interesting combinations that you should consider (hint: look at alignments) |
Yes, Edwin and Viconia will not get along very well with the other members of your party. I would suggest that you replace Edwin with Imoen if you are close to getting her, and Viconia with either Nalia(?) or Aerie. And by the way, WELCOME TO IRONWORKS TREMOR BREAK!!! :D
-Brainless One |
Or, instead of dropping two of the best NPCs in the game, you could turn your party to the dark side of the force and, for example, take Korgan instead of Keldorn. It all depends on how your want to roleplay the game, but don't expect your current party to remain friends forever.

Half-Orc kensai?
I like your style! :D |
Welcome to Ironworks!
|
I would keep the party, and just watch my rep. Good, original party, there! As far as who should take, that depends on your playing style. Do you prefer the use of magic, or whacking stuff?
Oh, and, WELCOME TO IW!! |
I think that the natural inclination, at least for people playing for the first time, is to (deliberately or not) max out their reputation (the game really encourages this), so it's hard to hold on to Viconia and Edwin. You might have to engage in reputation-controlling activities. There are lots of previous threads on creative ways to control/lower your reputation.

I have read some of the other threeds and i no that edwin drops out at 18rep i got a 16rep atm i have been trying to keep em down. Personaly wacking stuff is my main way but i do use edwin alot cose it just is cool to disintergrat people
i swoped Keldorn for Mazzy using her as a ranger oh where do i get bags and stuff that hold bolts and the items bag coes my first game i got a bag that could hold anything i wanted but a limmited amount of course but in this game i only got spell cases and gem bags noo other 1's like the item and arrow 1's well i am not sure what i am going to do once i get Imoen back as the current team seems pritty good, but people say imoen is really good 2 don't they?? |
well ppls :S

Item/item-related plot spoilers
. . . I'll assume that since you're talking about a bag that holds bolts you have Throne of Bhaal installed. Check out the first level of Watchers Keep. You'll get a bag of holding in Spellhold in ch. 4. If you have Unfinished Business [Ed: a mod, as Zarr pointed out] installed, you should have found a wolfskin bag when (if) you did the Copper Coronet quest. The wolfskin bag is added by a mod, It isn't in normal SOA
Well technically it is there, it just doesn't work as a bag |
Imoen Spoilers
. . . . . . . . . If you want to use Imoen, you should really apply the 'Haul Ass For Imoen' strategy - i.e. do the absolute bare minimum of quests before heading off to rescue her. In your first post you say that you have done nearly all the quests for the chapter, which means that Imoen is probably gong to be so far behind your other characters in experience that she will be too weak to be terribly useful. |
k well i only have SOA and umm soo Imoen is no good for the team cose she bee to fair behind ay.. no prob but where do i get the item holder bag can't remember its name i think i brought it in the first game.. it held anything i put in it but ya..
|
The Bag of HOlding is in Spellhold.
So get ur arse over there, pick up immy (then drop her if you wish) You should find the bag in the maze. Hope this helps. Cheers T-D-C |
I thought Imoen adjusted herself to your level..
|
thx and who u think i drop for imeon cose i want another mage i am using mazzy as a ranger but i an't sure maybe i drop her :S cose the rest are working well Thanks again every1
|
is putting Keldorn in my party and dropping Valgar soo he can use my newly found Carsomyr a good idea?? i am dropping mazzy for imoen lata soo ye :S
|
Imoen adjusts herself somewhat (like other NPCs) but, if you pick her up later in the game (after doing lots of quests in chapters 2 and 3), will never catch up to say Edwin (not that anyone can catch up to Edwin).
|
You aint got a thief, so you really should sake imoen... You can either trade for edwin, or viconia, as this will not leave you short handed elsewhere...I
|
My current party is
Amn (Half-Orc Kensai),Keldorn, Jaheira, Viconia and Edwin I will drop Viconia to get Imoen and shit happens if she is fair behind i will fix it next time i play |
Don't worry about Immy being behind. The way characters level up will more or less catch her up. You'll hit the XP cap eventually anyway... and I've never had a problem with her lagging seriously behind.
|
Agreed. Fact is, Chap. 4&5 will give you massive amounts of XP, so even Imoen will be able to contribute.

A friendly recommendation - start using a spelling and grammar checker. I'm afraid I'm finding your posts almost undecipherable.
|
what ever, i type with stupid internet shorthand but it happens. I am trying to type correct and all that but I an't going out of my way. It may not be grammar perfect but then it happens and remember i live in the land of Oz soo our spelling is different. Yes i get words wrong but just because I do it doesn't mean you can't find the meaning of my post as i normaly spell a word as it sounds.. Colour, Color same words different countrys spellings, just 1 example.
|
Just a note: The wolfskin bag found in the copper Coronot is also added by a mod(tactics mod IIRC). Without the tactics mod you find a wolfskin but it can only be sold it doesn't act as a bag, so is therefore useless.
|
It's added by the Unfinished Business mod.

Another question now
Ok soo i have Imoen and the bag of holding woot Now Imoen is lvl 11 and Edwin is like 13 He is wielding 2 rings 1 is like ring of aculraty(spelling) and the other is can't remember they both do basicly same thing. Well he has like 4 xtra spells in every lvl.. She is like says she should be i mean for a lvl 11 mage all the right spells while Edwin is just ova tha top he is way ova tha top.. |
Edwin is always going to be better due to being a pureclass mage.
Imoen is a dual mage/theif so she will never have quite as many spells as Edwin. Items like the Amult of Power and Ring of Aculty can help her but edwin will always be the better mage. Cheers |
T-D-C: I like your sig.
As far as I know, Edwin gets more spell lots because of his amulet (though I can't remember whether it's one or two extra per level) and because he is a conjurer - a specialist mage (one extra slot per level, IIRC, but can't memorize spells from the opposing school as a trade-off). It's true that Imoen is dual-classed but that doesn't have any impact on how many spell slots she gets, except that she is two levels behind Edwin in your game. Irrespective of level, Edwin will always get more spell slots than any other NPC mage in the game. [ 08-23-2004, 11:00 PM: Message edited by: Feral ] |
Yes as soon as he is lvl 18, when he can first start using level nine spells, he has 4 slots right off the bat!

BTW if you like my Sig ask the A.R.T.S people to make you one in the GD forum. Stormymystic made mine. I think it turned out well. |
Thanks, T-D-C - it did - looks good.
As for Edwin, the first time I saw how many level 9 spell slots he got (at once!), I thought it was a bug. I don't think any of my other mages have ever had 4 level 9 slots even at the end of ToB. |
Thx guys seeing as this is first time i really played the game i think i'll go as i am then when i start again i will go different and try harder and shit btw i am playing mod free
what is a good class for my next time?? oh can you please also tell me best race for the class you say Thanks Half-Orc Kensai atm are sorceress's good?? Or whats a good school of mage for a mage if i wanna use it as a powerfull spells mage doing dammage not helping the party of summons ya i am thinking mage but not sure Edwin and another strong mage could be goodera but ya |
