Ok this has really peeved me off, i'm in the first cloakwood sector and i come across the nable from Bauldurs gate now i read sumwhere that if you help him and kill the druids that u get a quest later on now im thinkin to myself hmm quest later on apparently you still get the +2 long sword why not kill the druids? so i do but then after woods when i go to get my well earned pay does this pompus noble say "I've nothing to say to you" I just saved his good for nuthing neck he should owe me, anyway after getting frustrated wif all of this i thought ok i get a quest from him in BG i'll just leave him alive for now, but what happens when i get to BG he isnt there i've searched the whole dang city and he aint there , where am i suppose to find him or am i going to have to go back to cloakwood to whack him so i can get the sword and are there any better swords than the +2 swords?
The last two times I played through BG, I had the same problem. I killed the druids and no noble was in front of the building in the city :-(
Hopefuly someone can tell us what we did wrong... |
I havent had that problem, but maybe it has to do with your reputation or charisma. Some quests and even NPCs arent available if your charisma isnt high enough.
Yeah, I agree, probably a Rep/CHA issue. If you're high in both areas, it's almost certainly a bug, and you should reload if it happens. (It happened to me once when I was playing as a Paladin.)
His sword is a +1 Bastard Sword that's also +3 against all shapeshifters.....like werevolves, some Druids and Pod People. Not that great (I prefer Long Swords myself), but you do have to whack a few shapeshifters late in the game--but I was perfectly happy getting along without the sword. |
You might want to side with the druids. And kill the noble you get a diamond, sword +3 vs. shapeshifters *good when fighting doppelgangers*, and you don't lose REP. But in Baldurs gate the city you meet his brother near the carnival that has a +1 morning star and the heavy crossbow of accuracy.

Well dex, try pickpocketing it. And make sure your at the Merchant League Building, and rest in front of it, to see if he comes at certain times of day.
Sorry, SecretMaster, that won't work. If he didn't thank you for killing the Druids when you met him in the Cloakwood, he will NOT appear in Baldur's Gate. It's a bug. The computer thinks you killed him, hence his absence from the Merchant League doorstep and the presence of his vengeful brother. If you really want to talk to him, you'll have to hack him into the game--though I'm not sure that will allow you to do his quest.
And don't bother trying to pick the lock on the Merchant League door. Only Aldeth can open it for you. (Meaning, if you do get in, don't leave anything of value inside!) |
Must be a bug coz i had 18 charisma an a 20 rep, but i didnt get his brother when in BG i might jst o charm a black bear and kill him wif tht, would i lose any rep points if a charmed bear did it?
You lose Rep is ANYTHING under your control (the circle around them is green) kills an innocent, or if a party member kills an innocent while Charmed or Berserk or whatever. But Aldeth's not an innocent--so I assume the Druids have at least a valid case against him. So if you side with the Druids, you get a decent sword and later on, a cool crossbow. Side with Aldeth, you get a decent ring and later on, a decent sword (or three). I don't know if you lose Rep for killing Aldeth's brother, I've never met him.
You dont lose rep if u kill his brother, i did tht the first time i went through there must be sum loop hole tht'd let me get tht sword if i charm him then kill him will i lose rep points?
