Bards are Charisma based. Same as Sorcs.

ah, alright . i havent used a blade yet. im planning to make a game with my blade, and a wildmage. . that would be cool indeed.
edit: im planning to get a bard who will dual wield long swords armor- suggestions?? crimson chain or bladesinger's chain or Aslyferund Elven Chain +5 (tob) long swords- on-hand- ras, daystar(for undead), blackrazor, flame tongue offhand- dragonslayer, Adjatha the Drinker, blackrazor (im still thinking about this one) for long range- throwing dagger firetooth helm- ?? is it possible?? gauntlets/gloves- weapon expertise or gauntlets of dex or gauntlet of ogre power or wonderous gloves amulet- amulet of power of course (amulet of shield at the start if possible) boots- boots of speed (will this affect his offensive spin ability?) belt- girdles of str (any) or belf of inertial barrier (thinking about this one since i may be able to case protection from magic against horror writing at a lvl 6 spell) what are the good items a bard can use? any good harp or bardic item suggestions out there? With that said, however, nobody actually needs Intelligence at all--not even Sorcerers, Bards, or Mages. |
In 2nd Edition DnD, Bards have a minimum requirement of 13 in intelligence, but that's also all you need to be able to cast level 6 spells. Higher INT score will allow you to scribe more spells into your spellbook, and you have a higher chance of succeeding doing so (if you play on the higher difficulties.)
The charisma thing for spellcasting for Bards are a 3rd Edition rule. |

blades can't wear helms, i dont rekon they can use ranged either, skald is better in my opinion cause i never use lockpick, and his bard song gets better...however the offensive and defensive spin is handy in a pickle, i gave my blade a katana and called him......blade....made him black as well, and got him in shadow dagon armour...all he needed was the sunnies

ah well.. thanks for tips!
btw, i havent tried a bard all the way to TOB so do you guys know what special abilities he gets from it? |
TOB spoiler
/ / / / / / / / / I'm playing through TOB currently with a bard. They get all the rogue skills such as 'use any item', 'set snares' and 'scrribe scrolls' aswell as two others namely 'enhanced bard song' and 'magical flute'. |
Bards can't use helmets, but they can still use Ioun stones. It's better than nothing.
If you play with a party, a Skald is a good choice due to his Bard song, but if you solo a Blade is probably better as you can't do anything else while using the Bard song. As JR said, Bards get the same high-level abilities as Thiefs except one or two (Assassination and one other.) The Enhanced Bard song is basically an improved version of the Skald songs, and all Bards can choose it, even Blades. |
UAI is insanely useful for Bards since they can have proficiency in any weapon type.*wink wink nidge nudge*
|
what is UAI?
|
Use Any Item
its high-level ability available if you have Throne of Bhall (ToB ;) ) installed |
