I was wondering if any of you guys could tell me of some really good side quests in the game. Ones where you could get alot of XP and some good items. Thanks.

Xen 06-03-2004 03:01 PM

The Twisted Rune quest.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 06-03-2004 03:12 PM

That's evil, Xen.

I'm guessing you're early in the game, AMS, and without knowing party members and levels, I can only suggest that you do the Copper Coronet quest. Not the quests people there give you yet, but explore the building itself. After that, head over to the Docks and talk with Renal Bloodscalp. After that, you should be ready to help the young lady from the Copper Coronet who would have approached you. After that you should be ready to explore on your own.

Xen 06-03-2004 03:18 PM

And what is so evil about the Twisted Rune? Most people have not even heard for it. So?

Feral 06-03-2004 03:20 PM

Xen - would you suggest SxE do the Twisted Rune before or after Kangaxx?

That sounds like a pretty good plan to me. That first sidequest is fairly challenging, but doesn't get really difficult until the very end. In the meantime, you find LOTS of nice items, including one of the "marquee items" of the game.

One alternative I would suggest is perhaps going to the area of Trademeet first instead of the quest listed above. You still get some good XP and find some nice items and scrolls, but the enemies aren't quite as challenging there (to the best of my knowledge, anyway). That might be a good "warm up" to get you ready for the quest alluded to by Illumina

It depends on his level. I usually do both in chapter 3 if I can.

Amaze me SxE 06-03-2004 03:28 PM

yeah i probably should explained a bit more, i'm level 9 fighter right now, in chapter 2, with Nalia, Minsc, Anomen, Jan, and Korgan on my team, and i've completed both Korgans and Nalias side quests, and did all the quest for Renal Bloodscalp and alot of the copper Coronet ones, so what are some more?

I beg to differ. Last time I played (on Insane, latest Tactics) one Shadow Druid did 112 damage to her. (Call lightning that is) Now if that`s not challenging what is?

I play on Normal instead of Insane, and I've only gotten one character out of Chateau Irenicus with the latest Tactics Mod so far - so I'm not familiar with all the changes that have been made yet.

People who ask about sidequests are more often than not early in the game. I could be wrong, of course...

Amaze me SxE 06-04-2004 08:01 AM

Yes could someone explain to me what the twisted rune quest is and where to go to start it.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 06-04-2004 02:02 PM

What chapter are you in, have you played the game before, and your party/levels?

it's all explained right there.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 06-04-2004 02:48 PM

I'm sorry. I do believe I'll go take a nap now.
As it stands, you're not ready for the Twisted Rune yet. It's one of the most difficult fights in the game. Head over to the City Gates and get the Trademeet quest, that should keep you busy for a while.

Get Jaheira into your party! She's the subquest queen!

thats true...if you get her to work ;)

Nerull 06-05-2004 09:49 PM

You could also swing by the docks and start going into buildings. There are a few solid subquests there. You could also catch a play in the bridge district, and you could go to the graveyard and check it out both during the day and at night.

Trying to convince Weimer that Improved Faldorn should not be able to instakill a PC with 139 hp on the very first hit.

I truly hope that no one spoils you on any part of the Twisted Rune, because things like that are much better when you do them for yourself.

TheGodThatFailed 06-10-2004 11:33 AM

I agree six,i got spoiled upon finding Am-Si and i had gone through 2 previous games and not found him.Was fun looking.I STILL dont know where it is,and want to find out myself.

Nickzilla 06-10-2004 11:39 AM

The thing is with the twisted rune quest is that all the pieces don't fit together correctly so you need to metagame and be spoiled a bit to finish it all.
EDIT: Duh, stupid me. Changed the context of the whole post.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 06-10-2004 02:55 PM

How.... ::softly clears throat:: How did the last battle make you feel? Did you enjoy it?

Feral 06-11-2004 12:39 AM

... and then Korgan insists on telling me YET AGAIN what happened to his last set of companions and Viconia wants to know YET AGAIN what aberration brought me to life...

krunchyfrogg: Jaheira's subquests (a.k.a. romance) are notoriously buggy, so it's hard to actually see them through.

definatly the cult of the eyeless witness is the best and i think with the most experience to give!

masteraleph 06-13-2004 01:39 PM

There are several other "big quests":

Unseeing Eye
Windspear Hills
Umar Hills
Tradesmeet

Of all of these, I'd highly suggest the Tradesmeet one first (given to you by a guy in the City Gates district). It's the easiest of the four and will get you lots and lots of gold, although not so many great items (there is a great shortbow available for purchase when you've completed it though, that should compliment Nalia nicely). The Umar Hills and Windspear Hills quests should probably be completed after this, and the Unseeing Eye can be hard or easy depending on what types of strategies you like using.
