welcome to Ironworks
i plead with you to play through the game without knowing where things are at least for the first time - i can tell you that's there's no shortage of really good bows and long swords some of which are easily available in shops if you really, really want to know then reply asking to be 'spoiled' and someone will let you know (someone might choose to let you know anyway of course) |
i've already beaten the game so yes you can "spoil" i never looked for a good bow and i know there isn't a shortage of longswords but i'd like to know what is the best and where can i find it.

The best longsword can be found by talking to someone in the city gates, and doing stuff. The best bow cannot be had legitimately until Chapter 6.
|
The best bows before Chap 6 (Gesen/Mana) must be either Tansheron (+3, no ammo) or Tuigan (+1, 3 attacks). I am not telling you where to look, just that once you have found these there is no need to look any further.
There is a good blade for sale called Blades of the Roses. A certain sword near the gates will help you greatly against a specific type of opponents. |

here you go: http://www.flatface.net/~itemsmart/magic_items_menu.htm these things can have their place i reckon - i've just played a figher/thief though BG1 who has a character concept that's cumulating in a certain longsword only available right at the end of SoA - have fun |
thanks for the help guys.

The best bow I found was something calld the "Elven Court Bow", though I can't for the life of me recall where I found it. I'm well into the game, so it could have been any number of places. In the hands of someone like Minsc, it can really pummel wizards

The one in D'Arnise hold behind the statues in the golem room? Yeah it's a nice bow. Not over the top, but nice. Mana, Gesen, Tuigan and Tansheron are all better IMHO

Armen your link is dead.

Try: http://www.flatface.net/~itemsmart/Magic_Items/Bows/
As previously discussed - SPOILERS: . . . The Elven Court Bow is a long bow, whereas the others (except for the Mana Bow) are short bows. If you're looking for a good long bow until you get the Mana Bow (Forest of Tethyr after the Underdark), try Heartseeker +3 (in Windspear Hills). |
Heartseeker is a composite bow ain't it? Long bows can be used by bards, whereas composites cannot.
|
Without checking, I believe you're right. Therefore, SxE: if you're playing a bard (or any other not-really-a-figher class) then Heartseeker (and any other composite long bow) is out for you.

sorry for any frustration |
I liked the court bow and the heartseeker, Gesen fires a little slowly... But I'm using the heartseeker right now because I have a strength of 18/?
Edit: I only use two handed swords if I can. They kick ass and are more aethisicly(not gonna win any spelling contests) pleasing. [ 06-07-2004, 08:38 PM: Message edited by: Megachihuahua ] |

I definitely agree with the sword at the City Gate. DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!!! Since you don't mind being spoiled SxE, here is a link to the most informative site I have found regading BGII --> Baldur's Gate II at GameBanshee That specific link will take you directly to the Weapons Page, where you can look up every single weapon available in BGII. You can also get detailed info on every class and race, and the walkthroughs are very nice too (if you like that type of thing). [ 06-08-2004, 01:39 PM: Message edited by: Cerek the Barbaric ] |
