Which of all the characters in BG did you like?

Renal Bloodscarp was a nice character. Great dialogue and fun attitude towards killing, yet he wasn't a pervert like Mae'Var(with what he was doing with that slave). Despite being a thief, he was very charismatic and polite towards the protagonist. Him on Mae'Var: "Good thief, but I never liked him. Now I know why." :D

The second character that I have to mention is Esamon.. Saemon Havarian. Now THAT'S a Charisma 18 character! He betrayed everything and everybody he came to contact with, and still always got away with it. :D

What do you think?

Illumina Drathiran'ar 04-08-2004 09:37 PM

"Yes, I'm still here."

I really liked Renal, too. I like it when evil characters are charming. Just because you're ruthless doesn't mean you have to skulk around, plotting constantly.

My favorite characters include Jahiera and Viconia (Love their banters, battlecries, and my favorite voiceacting), Jan and Edwin (Extremely funny), good old Johnny Boy (Excellent voiceacting), and of course the party of Tim (Who has magic missile)

Balintherlas 04-08-2004 10:20 PM

I like all the stupid things cernd says, but overall id prolly have to go with cespenar.

Xen 04-09-2004 01:51 PM

Edwin,Renal Bloodscalp and of course everybody`s favourite Final Boss.

teardropmina 04-09-2004 03:35 PM

well, I for one, am not that fond of Irenicus. I cannot make myself liking someone who would say to people something like "you have no purpose but to die in my hands." no matter how cool the way he says it or there's a sophisticated background story behind to make him say so (the depth of the Irenicus story, honestly imo, is still to be desired in SoA).

he can always get away with it because the game cheats. I always kill him before he teleport away from the ship, but he keeps on living anyway

Oh, killing him is the best part in the game. And notice that I only said I liked the voiceacting on Johnny Boy, not the character himself.
I did like some of Saemon's lines, however.
"Sir, you must believe I speak with utter sincerity when I say Mara! GET HIM!"

Oh oh oh! And I can't believe I forgot! The very best NPC in the entire series!

The Spectator Beholder!

LadyLuthien 04-09-2004 06:37 PM

I admit I've got some weird, fangirlish crush on Saemon Havarian. There's just something about him... *sigh*

Edwin is another favorite of mine, and I've been eagerly awaiting the Edwin Romance Mod to be written, and I think at least one person thought I was nuts for it, but I like evil, arrogant wizards. And Edwin's just fun.

I also agree with the person who mentioned Cespenar. I LOVE Cespenar. I just love his voice. He's so cute, I just have this urge whenever I talk to him to find anyone nearby in the house and show him to them.

Hmmm... That romance might get interesting during Edwin's own quest ;)

HAHAHA spectator beholder? cha, id neeber over him, what does he say thats funny or amusesing?

This might be rendered moot if u wer being sarcastic, which is somehow difficult to detect on type.

Balintherlas 04-09-2004 08:55 PM

*choose, forgive me my stupidity.

uss 04-10-2004 03:45 AM

OH YES, the Spectator Beholder had many hilarious lines! :D

Edwin is a really cool character, yes. His work acting and dialogue were very fitting for an 18 Int Evil Mage(Though just barely). :D

While I didn't like Irenicus character as much, though I would've liked it would he have a cool elven physical appearance :D , his sound acting was great. I also found Havarian's voice acting to be very fitting for the character.

Ah, that's the case on quite a few characters. I also always try to kill him - I love and hate his character at the same. :D But I didn't really mean that. I meant that you'd have to be damn smart to survive :TOB SPOILER: til' the Throne of Bhaal. The length between those appearences was 10-40 days, I believe, and as was seen, he was once again pulling someone's leg. :D

It is, especially with me, when more often than not it's safe to assume that I type with my tongue planted firmly in my cheek.
But in this case it isn't. You *do* remember the Spectator, yes?

Q'alooaith 04-11-2004 10:07 PM

there's an edwin romance?

I must say, happy, happy joy, joy..

I still think Charname can be the most insteresting though..

woernman 04-12-2004 06:59 AM

Saemon is great, but I really like Cespenar - and, of course, the spectator beholder (especially his lines in (SPOILER) ToB)

uss 04-12-2004 11:10 AM

Yeah, the protagonist can say funny things, but not as funny as in Planescape: Torment.

Centaur creature:"Why are you attacking me?"

Nameless One(protagonist):"Cause I *feel* like it."

;

Morte:"You've got some notes on your back, Chief"

Nameless One:"What does it say?"

Morte:"Well, it says:"[about 10 lines of words]"

The Nameless One:"No wonder my back hurts. There's a damn novel written there!"

:D

I like Cespenar. He has a funny voice and all. It's just that due to so many different components, I keep hearing the same sounds too much.

I hate Jan. He is introduced to you by trying to sell you his cheap illegal merchandise, he looks ugly, and on top of that, he tells LONG and meaningless stories about Uncle Scratchy and other stupidly named family members.

[ 04-12-2004, 11:38 AM: Message edited by: uss ]

Illumina Drathiran'ar 04-12-2004 02:32 PM

I *LOVE* Jan's stories. If I was the PC, I'd end up staying up late at night talking to him.

Look at the way Imoen banters with him. That would be more or less the way I'd talk with him.

Definitely agree with you there. Both you and the other NPCs are rock solid. Morte is just a riot!

You have to understand something about Jan's stories, and gnomes in general; they are pranksters, and the people they go after the most are those that take themselves too seriously. Jan's version of a prank is the long winded stories you are talking about. Pay attention to who he tells these stories to, and what he is implying about them. I personally don't like the stories, either, but having played the game enough I understand why he does them (and some are funny, like the one he tells Nalia).

Hmm, so you're saying that Jan's stories have a deeper meaning that it first seems? I hadn't thought of that, really.

Still, I don't like neither his class nor his butt-ugly face, so I doubt I'd ever take him into my party. His coolness factor is quite low, in my opinion.

Illumina Drathiran'ar 04-14-2004 06:15 PM

I don't like his face, but you don't really have to look at it that much.
The only problem I have with him is the belching, but there are ways to fix that... though they're more trouble than they're worth.

TheGodThatFailed 04-16-2004 06:38 AM

I like Keldorn...hes always been my fav NPC :D
Hes hard and hes always going on about justice...Hes cool :D but i also think renal bloodscalp is cool and irenacus :D ...
USS in NeverWinter Nights it says theives should have a high charisma so surly thats why Renal would have a high charisma...Anyway i also like the spector beholder hes funny :D

Glorfindel 04-16-2004 08:49 AM

noone liked neeber?

Illumina Drathiran'ar 04-16-2004 01:19 PM

I only liked Noober for two lines:
"You don't think I ask too many questions, do you?"
::pause::
"What's a cleric?"

uss 04-16-2004 06:04 PM

I forgot to mention Firkraag. He's a nice character, an arrogant dragon with an interest towards the Bhaalspawn.

Best lines:

"Gorion is beyond my revenge, being dead as he is. So I settled for the next best thing."

"Ah, you return? *sigh* You'd think the children of gods would have something better to do."

Daniel Copeland 04-19-2004 03:44 PM

You all forgot Minsc. Boo is ashamed of you. Minsc had some of the funniest, most nonsensical lines in the game.

Example: (after donating enough to gain rep point)

Minsc: We follow the path that surely leads to glory! Boo is proud to be here, I can tell.

Doren(Me): It is not worthy of such a fuss, Minsc. A simple uninspiring act of charity.

Minsc: Then say it louder. We must inspire fear in evil! Quiet tales of hamsters are foolish, but a man and his hamster that tear evil limb from limb? That's scary!

Doren: Ahh, what the hell. Right-o Minsc! Our deeds will ring in the ears we box and label do not open 'til midwinter fest!

Minsc: Now you are speaking the language of Minsc!
Next we must get you a hamster! Or perhaps an ice weasel, whatever suits your taste.

Or there are the lines when you first meet him.

Minsc: I did not follow what you just said, but Boo thinks you are just ducky.

(When asked how he hid Boo)
Minsc: Boo is such a small and fast hamster, and there is ever so much of Minsc to be searching.
Imoen: Oh, I don't want to think about that.

And this may sound disturbing, but I found Aran's chief torturer kind of funny.

Yeah, these 2 examples were the funniest things he said. I can't remember anything else of interest that he could've said, though.

Dradeel also had a funny line, however small it was.

"Back! No kennel can cage me! I'll escape here by myself!"

"Freedom! Freed- bloody hell!"

Raistlin Majere 04-21-2004 12:12 PM

Korgan has really funny banters, and makes some hilarious comments.

The beholder has some very funny lines(though you really have to understand english to catch the hidden meanings and sarcasm, IIRC)

And Jonny boy is like the coolest character ever! Not just the voice set, hes just got everything it takes to be an all powerful evil wizard: the arrogance, selfconfidence, a dragons ego and, of course, the power to back all those up!

Balintherlas 04-21-2004 05:56 PM

First of all, my complements illumina on that clever joke at my exspense, i pride myself on my jokes but i bow to a master. Second, im pretty sure i remember the spectator, at the sahaugin city, he gaurds the chest but i havent done that part recently so maybe i missed something, though i did jus run by him again in ToB and i remeber the only remotely funny thing he said was something about checking out the wizards floating eyes.
